I'm just curious. Because I think they're kinda silly.
Seriously silly.
And, quite frankly, make no sense to me.

Comments and explanations are welcomed.

Could it just be different strokes for different folks and live and let live?

:)

perhaps.. I just can't see the positives in it.. Seems when you care for someone, I mean *really* want to know them. . You will want to be with them in body not just spirit. I don't understand the need to create a pseudo relationship with someone knowing full well it ain't going any further than a keyboard...
Now if your intention is to keep it entirely online, then it should also be understood Upfront That you don't fully intend on following through with anything and it simply amounts to little more than elaborate roleplay..

Or am I wrong?

Wrong?

Fuck no, you're not wrong. You are right, right, right! ... And/or, correct, too! Or, at least, I agree with you on the subject.

I think since I know Lit isn't a dating site, online only, is always my first assumption.

Why, Thank you, Darlin'..
I should probably say. .I don't fault those that play that game..I simply don't understand it.
Much like golf..:D

true...true..Lit is *not* a dating site, per se... but apparently "cyber sex" is the greatest thing to happen to the dating world since they discovered penicillin cured syphilis. . So... I'm still thinking trolling around for virtual nookie is a form of "dating" and there's plenty of that going on here

Then I'd be interested in that answer as well, but it's doubtful the 'ads men' peruse the PG much.

Not everyone is looking for what you are looking for.

And that is okay. :rose:

If all they want is elaborate role play then how is it any skin off your nose?

Lit has people with various sexual needs that are wide ranging.

I don't get some of the stuff on here.

Heck, a lot of the stuff on here.

However, I figure different people, different needs.

I don't expect people to stop what their doing because I don't get it and I am not going to shake my finger at them and castigate them.

I wish them well and I move on doing my own thing.

That is my thought on the matter.

Do you think it could ever be explained to your satisfaction?

probably not. ..but, without trying to offend anyone, I genuinely am interested in the whys behind it.

I'm especially interested in why certain threads get hijacked for sexual role play between people when it could maybe be better suited for offline play?

Or is it the voyeuristic/ exhibitionist thrill that prompts that?

I've limited my participation in a couple threads because they got overrun with what I thought distracted from the original purpose of the thread. Doesn't mean it's "wrong" just saying to me it's distracting.

This is Lit. People can post whatever..where ever. . With whomever they like..
Doesn't mean I'm not allowed to also post I don't care for it all.

well.for Shits And giggles.. I'll go read the Lit Personals... And they're always these"ads" for online only relationships. .. And I find that kinda amusing..

I'm personally a too literal person...how can you be in a relationship with someone you've never actually met?

I can't think of a thread that does not happen to, really.

I think of Lit sometimes as a big table of people talking all at once, some break off into splinter groups and have conversations and then join back into the main one again.

I had another thought but I lost it, will post when I remember.

I don't understand why people don't use the ignore option.

Problem solved.

If one does not like something, why seek it out?

If we remove what you do not like from Lit and what I don't like and that person does not like and then that one too.

Well soon, there would be no Lit.

never said to remove it..

There are probably people here who keep sheep, and shearing the wool ain't got nothing to do with it. ;)

Just saying that I don't see the appeal.. and granted I probably never will...Nonetheless, I solicited opinions here because I'm interested in the answers. I did not to say my opinion is the correct one.

Well, "pen pals" is a longstanding tradition in which the people often never met, so it sure is possible. The realm of the mind is where we live much of our reality, anyway.

see..now that^^^ I understand. . Pen pals. But I feel that a "pen pal" is different from a "chat partner".. at least from a connotational stand point.
