Work (or lack of work) Woes

I'm getting ready to go from 6 workers down to 3. One of the 3 left will be bitter about not getting the promotion, but the better worker got the job. And then I'll have to start training a newbie, which will consume all my time and energy and I won't be able to help my workers as much. I HATE training. When I first got this position, I trained 3 people in the space of 3 years but the last one I trained was 2.5 years ago. I'm so nervous about training someone new. So much has changed and I'm afraid I've forgotten some of the daily grind part of their job. Surely I'm not the only manager who feels like they are losing touch with their workers jobs because I'm too busy filling out stupid redundant forms required by headquarters. I used to do my job and half of the newbies, but I just don't have it in me anymore. I feel like I'm going to fail them.
Don't worry too much about remembering everything. Take it one question at a time, that's what my mentor did. And if there was something he couldn't answer, I appreciated his "Let's find out together shall we" attitude.

It allowed me to work independently cause I had a glimpse of what he would do if he was in my position. I carried this same approach with my trainees and I'm proud to say, most of them knew what they were doing. Most of them 😂

If anyone else is looking for a job like me, the job advice blog Ask a Manager is invaluable. Even if you're not looking for a job but having problems at work, it's a great place to get advice on how to handle almost any problem (it is US-centric though).

For looking for a job, she has a whole list of articles she's written on resumes and cover letters:
A Bunch of Help to Find a New Job

Speaking of resumes... does anyone have a lot of experience reviewing them? I have a few questions if there's anyone who would let me pick their brain! (not literally :D)

I'd consider myself pretty good at it. I'd be happy to help!
Thank you! 😁 I have a very erratic job history, and found a resume example here that has a Profile section with Key Results that I think would help sum me up. I'm thinking it would make it easier for a hiring manager to get a sense of what kind of employee I am, instead of trying to follow my weird job history (though I would include that too)

My question is: do I do a different profile/key results section for each of the 3 types of jobs I've had and just have 3 different resumes to send out? For example, a Teaching profile/key results on one resume, an Admin one on another, etc.? Or do I do one that sort of sums up my whole work life?

I find this guy a little annoying but do agree with this

I haven't seen this format of resumes used. Last time I had to review resumes to hire ppl was in late 2020.

You can use the cover letter to also explain that!

Have a resume with all three areas and then copy and paste to tailor to the job you're applying to.

I have a CV with all my employment history and when necessary I copy and paste different sections.

My take on resumes is that there is ALWAYS skills that you can transfer from one sector to the other. If you have gaps in your resume (I do too) I'm sure you even use some of those skills in your daily life for example managing your household or caring for your nieces (I'm sure the teaching experience comes in handy)

I also like what this guy is saying about explaining gaps in your resume.

If is hard to fit two pages then I'd try my hardest to fit everything into 1 page.

Thank you! I really appreciate it 🤗❤️

If a new position opens up where I work and if I meet the qualifications I hope I can overcome my insecurities and apply for it. My boss is a bitch and I can’t tolerate her.
I know it's all 'if' but him sure that with such a great rack you could easily find work elsewhere! Otherwise play leapfrog and complain about her to the head honcho. Lol

If my rack could get me the same income that I currently earn as well as the same medical and dental benefits that would be amazing! LOL.
