World Cup 2026

May The Beautiful Game burn brightly and purge all negativity, amen
I'll have a word with the next King of England, who is a keen Aston Villa supporter and Patron of the FA, and see what he can do.
However, he and his dad have both gone on record calling Islam a religion of peace, so there's clearly some major work to undertake in that direction as well.

So, we expecting Spain and USA to go through tonight. And Argentina and Columbia tomorrow?

1/4 finals are starting to line up nicely. It’s almost a shame that France and Morocco meet then as I think they are 2 of the top 3 teams of the tournament so far.

I think Norway and England can be a really good one too. Norway have brought so much to the WC going all in on the Viking image, they’ve been fun as a country as well as a team that is not just Haaland, but they also play such dangerous defence it could easily be another 5 goal game.

Um....what?

Yes, some great games are on the horizon.
Let's hope they are determined by skill rather than VAR or presidential decree.
Really looking forward to watching England v Norway, with Arsenal and Manchester City players on both teams.
It will be interesting to see Arsenal colleagues Rice and Odegaard battle it out in midfield. England will have to work out how to stop Haaland (and the service to him), while Norway will have multiple threats to contend with, notably Kane and Bellingham.

In other WC news. Henderson’s wrist injury is as bad as expected and will take some time to recover and use his hand again

His wife flew out to be with him on an emergency flight this morning.

So does that mean it’s his wanking hand he injured? Top wife flying out to help him out 😎

Its impressive, picking up a booking and injury while not getting on the pitch.

On the serious side though, I've seen the injury on tik tok. Its horrific and will take forever to recover. Given that he's 36 I think that could be his career done.

Here’s what Trump said in an Oval Office speech on Monday:

I saw the play. And I’m a person that loves sports and was a good athlete. I understand sports really well, really well. And that wasn’t a foul. That wasn’t even an infraction. That was two guys running full speed that happened to crash into each other. And this referee, who is a little bit suspect … I don’t like to create controversy, but very suspect. He made a call that nobody could believe. You know, even people on the other side, they said, ‘oh, we got lucky’. Wow. That’s very interesting.
And he [Balogun] is our best player, or one of our best players, a very vital player. And he gave him a red card. I didn’t know what that meant. I didn’t think it meant much. Then I started hearing that that means he can’t play in the next game. I said, boy, that’s a big, you know, if it happened to another player, it would have been unfair. But when they take your best player, or just about, and they say you can’t play, that’s very unfair. That’s you know, it’s one thing to penalise somebody for the game, but how do you penalise them for a game that hasn’t been played yet? It’s very unfair. You can’t do that.
So yes, I asked for a review by Fifa. I spoke to a man who’s highly respected and by the way, whose level of respect has gone up tenfold. And he was good before this started. But, you know, he really pushed it in this country.

Yes. He really is a world class wanker. I would quote the above but I don’t seem able to.

It isn't Balogun's fault either and I hope he doesn't get a harsh reception from opposing fans, there's no evidence that he requested this.
It wasn't his fault. But it was a Penalty. It was video reviewed...and the Red Card was made based on what was observed. Correctly. Why have video reviews if a President can call up FiFA and tell them to change the call? The US needs to keep him out today. But they won't. No honor. No class. No intregity.

If they win...it means nothing. I can guarantee Trump will do everything possible to steal a Championship. He loves gold

Belgium for the win.

Unless of course orange head has had a chat with the ref. 🤷‍♂️
Guarantee you ICE has visited already and told the refs if we don't like the calls they will not be available for later games

Balogun didn't complain about the penalty. The team did not appeal it.

He put them in an untenable position.

Trump has also stitched FIFA up. There's no way in hell they'd have said "oh, the Donald called us and had a word"
He's come out and said it.

FIFA are close to not being fit for purpose and the statement issued by UEFA today was pretty damning.

I dislike what trump did and that FIFA bent over and went along with it.

It is humorous though that the rest of the tournament has had the rest of the world talking non stop about how much favorable treatment and calls the big European countries have been getting. But now Europe is going to freak out about one call for anyone else.

Which big calls have the European teams had?
