World Cup 2026

Well, that was cagey. Spain are the better team, but not a team that look like they can sweep anyone aside. They had a lot of chances and don’t have the Haaland / Kane / Mbappe to solidly convert them. Spain march on, but their technical skill hasn’t really delivered stunning performances with Cape Verde and Portugal making them look a bit mid

Yeah, I wasn't in any way Compelled. Meh, is my verdict. (I love "mid" - that's a great insult. 😂)

All those hours in makeup for nothing.

Trump has also stitched FIFA up. There's no way in hell they'd have said "oh, the Donald called us and had a word"
He's come out and said it.

FIFA are close to not being fit for purpose and the statement issued by UEFA today was pretty damning.

Think back to 1998. World Cup in France and talismanic home player Blanc was sent off in Semifinal, meaning he missed the Final. If only President Chirac had known he could have called FIFA directly and had the ban suspended…..

No argument there but it will be a challenge to beat Spain if no one ever scores on them.

Sent off because Slaven Bilic cheated, no less.

Spain yet to concede a goal in 5 games so they will be hard to beat but they need a bit more flair upfront. Yamal could yet emerge as the hero but that game was a hard watch, especially in second half

Yeah defo. But look who they’ve played. Uruguay, Saudi, Cape Verdi, Austria and Portugal. I mean it’s a pretty easy route for them so far, no huge goal threats there.

Overall I find the WC really interesting cos the team skill levels are below the Champions League for example, but the cost of losing a game is huge, pack up and go home. So put those together and I think the cagey games are always most likely. But occasionally a bit of passion and desire still bites thru

Right after last night I can’t stay up again.

Enjoy USA Belgium, which should be a comfortable 2-0 to the home side

Bizarrely, they didn't get the ball to Yamal often enough.
Similarly, Portugal players ignored all the runs of Ronaldo and failed to bring him into the game.
He was shedding tears of regret at the end, knowing that was his last World Cup match.

Well, that or Infantini is in the Epstein files and Trump's holding it over his head...
That guy is so creepy, I wouldn't put anything past him. But I think he's already shown himself to be a keen kisser of Trump's Ass. FIFA Peace Prize, anyone?

Corruption and influence peddling from two of the most corrupt people... I'm shocked... no... wait... the other one... what's the opposite of shocked?

I'm trying hard to not imagine how many times in the next three years we're going to have to hear how "your favorite president" won the soccer game against Belgium on all his own.
My gosh! Can you imagine what would happen if the United States wins the World Cup?

These photos show WHY it was a Red Card. Only the ignorant want to make excuses by saying it was accidental. It most likely was. But as in ALL sports with physical contact...any accidental contact that COULD lead to serious injury is worthy of suspensions.

People can see things differently...that is fine. I have had similar happen to me...it fucking hurts like hell and it sucks. So maybe my view is colored by that experience? But the penalty was video reviewed...and that call must be respected. Otherwise the entire intregity of the Sport comes under question. AND THAT IS THE POINT.

What FIFA did....their explanation...and the USMNT's statement after are inadequate Trump once again...ruins everything he touches.
