When someone is starting by saying "this is why it is a red card" then the context of that is pretty relevant. The “was it a red or not” debate is irrelevant in this context.
The rules of the Tournament are that if you get a red card, you serve a ban. There is no right to appeal. Whether you agree with that rule or not doesn’t really matter, those are the rules as they stand and every team knows that at the start of the World Cup.
Every other player sent off so far has served a ban as per those rules. So for a politician to get directly involved with FIFA is highly questionable. For FIFA to then suspend the ban for a player is unprecedented and leaves a very sour taste.

And for many people who see the overturned suspension as justice or correction for a wrongly given red card, it's probably hard to convince them it's not relevant.
But even as an American I wish that had never happened. FIFA and Trump are very corrupt and it's a terrible thing to see that
New Jersey Nets I think. And the funny thing about that was that even though Pele' was over the hill he was still the most exciting player to watch.I think there was a US soccer league way back in the 70s that signed an aging Pele. How did that work out
Agreed. I don't want to take anything away from Belgium, but I do wonder if the USA would have played much better without all that overturned red card distraction.
New York Cosmos: Pele, Beckenbauer, Chinaglia.New Jersey Nets I think. And the funny thing about that was that even though Pele' was over the hill he was still the most exciting player to watch.
I know- what was that?Wow what a screwup...good grief.

Agree now we wait to see if USA want a review of every goal they conceded, anything to stay in the cup!Belgium extinguish USA 4-1.
Justice was done.
Jared Kushner is no longer running the VAR system for his father-in-law.
From the BBC website:
Belgium captain Youri Tielemans insisted the affair had boosted his side.
"We told ourselves we had to respond on the pitch. That's what we did," he said.
After Belgium scored their fourth goal several of their players were pictured dancing in a style similar to the 'Trump dance' - where he rocks his hips and slowly pumps his arms - which gained notoriety during the 2024 US presidential campaign.
Belgium head coach Rudi Garcia told reporters that Balogun "came to talk" after the game.
"I really liked that," he said. "It's not his fault, he's not the one to blame and that's what I told him."
Exactly right. My Country will never recover from Trump. We will cease to exist as a unified Country. States WILL leave the Union and form new Countries. Other Countries, however, their doom is not controlled by Trump....but by you. If you love your sport...and make no doubt about it...this is YOUR sport...the Infant must go and politics must not be a factor. I am sorry my pedophile in chief caused this reality for you...but make no mistake...even though he caused this...it is your job to fix. I have faith in you....where I do not have faith in my Country to do the right thing.I disagree, justice was not done. The US team nor Balogun are not to blame for this farce.
It is Infantino and FIFA who have allowed the integrity of the sport to be damaged. Until he's held to account, with consequences, there isn't justice.
