I read recently that the whole carrot thing for vision was made up by the British military during WW2. They had created really good radar and spread the rumor that carrots were good for the eyesight so the Germans wouldn't look for the radar.

Fascinating. There used to be a show called Victory Garden. My Grandma watched it religiously, but she never planted carrots. Didn't expect this article to give me the warm fuzzies from remembering Grandma but it did!
