If you were a pair of shoes, what kind would you be?

Ooh, great question! I want to ask this question everybody else, as well!

I think I'd be something comfy and easy. Smart casual.

I'd want experience a day of being a stylish, sleek, slightly intimidating black stiletto, though. :D

What kind of shoes do you wear to work?

Do you wear jewelry?

I usually wear heels at work, various heights, black pumps. Sometimes I also wear ankle boots, black or cognac, most of them with a heel but I also own one flat pair. In summer I sometimes wore pink flats, too. And recently when I've been pretty much the only person at the office I've skipped wearing shoes altogether and just worn black wool socks my mom made me. If I stand at my desk I usually remove my shoes or at least change my shoes so that I'm not wearing too high a heel. I have my own office, so nobody's there to see my feet so removing shoes is not as disgusting and impolite as you might imagine. Besides, as a country, we have a strong tradition of not wearing shoes indoors, ever.

I don't wear a lot of jewelry. Necklaces are the only piece of jewelry I do wear and I haven't worn one for over two years except on very special occasions. I have two which are more fancy that I wear for special occasions like going to the ballet or opera or something like that, and I also have one which is more everyday. That everyday one was also kind of my "day collar" once so there's a lot of emotional attachment and baggage and complexity to it, so I rarely wear it anymore.

I'd like to wear more jewelry, I just don't know what kind would look good on me or how to accessorize appropriately.

I thought you might. I couldn’t help but think about what kind of shoe I would be. :cattail:

The stilettos being intimidating is interesting. I suppose though, if you can walk in them and make it look natural, that can be intimidating. I hear having big feet helps with wearing heels. I once wore a pair of 6” platforms and because it’s such a small size my feet were basically vertical. That look didn’t last long. (p_-)

I'm a very solid 4" max person at work at least. I have one pair that I wear regularly at work that's 5", but it has a small platform. They are probably my comfiest heels, too. Thin soles and cobble stones can be a less than optimal combo at times, so the little platform fixes that issue and makes it more comfortable to walk to work.

I also have one pair with no platform with a 5" heel, but they're a little tight so I can't wear them for a long time at all. They're kinda sexy though, so I sometimes wear them for a little while at home if I want to feel uncomfortable and un-me-like.

I live so far away that people on Lit don't care about me, so I get a false sense of security here sometimes.

However far away you may live, people here care about you.

Does living in northern climes affect your mood in the winter months? I can handle the cold and darkness and even a bit of snow, when it comes but a week of constant rain can sap my will to live...

It hasn't usually affected me a lot, but last winter was rough. I think a big reason for that was that it wasn't a winter like I'm used to at all. We didn't have any snow, we didn't have temps below freezing. It was just unpleasantly rainy, cloudy and dark all the time.

I hope this winter will be at least a little better, a little less dark.

I am a bit slower and even more of a homebody during winter but I don't suffer from any particular winter blues. Last winter I was tired a lot, more than usual, but still not depressed or anything like that.

If you could teleport yourself back in time, would you?

I absolutely would. I'd go back in time to check out some historical places, people and events. But I'd also go back in time to make some different personal choices, little ones. Examples: I wouldn't dye my hair purple, I wouldn't go to the weird and scary mafia bar I lived next to and where I got stuck in the bathroom or at least wouldn't go along with the topless thing there, I wouldn't give up on sports. That sort of things, nothing major.

Story time?

Nothing very interesting. I was around 15 and I dyed my hair purple because it looked great on someone on TV. It looked horrible and I was stuck with it for a good while, because I had had to bleach my hair first to make the purple stick and I was too worried about my hair just falling off my head if I dye it back to normal immediately.

Has your hair been any other colors?

Besides the purple abomination it's been kinda plum-ish, copper, black, almost-black, and at one point I had blonde and copper highlights. The only one to really work was the very dark brown, almost black. I had that that for years. Now I'm wondering how I kept up with it, it's a lot of work to keep the roots at least somewhat in control.

I used to hate my own hair color. I thought it's either too red or too brown, depending on the day. I almost always wanted it to be darker, either darker red or darker brown. I've come to terms with it now, but now I'm going gray, so... Maybe I'll get some highlights soon, because going gray in my 30s is not a sexy look on me. :( The highlights would mask it a little.

I have a hairdresser appointment today! In a way I'd like to go short again, but I did miss my long hair a few weeks back, for the first time since I cut it about a year ago. So I think I'm only getting a trim this time and I'll let my hair grow out a little more. It's the safe and boring choice.

Hi seela, do you like Pandora jewellery, perhaps you may have a bracelet?

Now that I've googled what it is...

I actually do have a Pandora bracelet. I had completely forgotten about it. I got it for my birthday from mom one year and I don't think I've ever really worn it (see my answer to cookie's jewelry question). It's mostly plain but I have a vague memory that I have struggled with trying to change a plain piece into a special one. So I guess I do have a few of the special pieces too.

Edit: Oops, I don't have a Pandora bracelet after all. Google image search showed me both Pandora and Nomination bracelets and apparently the one I have is a Nomination bracelet with pieces that lock together. I thought all the pics were different kinds of Pandora bracelets...

So, no Pandora bracelet, although it looks more user friendly than the one I have. Upon closer inspection I don't really like the Pandora charms either, though... I'm not big on trinkets. The plain bracelet with nothing on it is more up my speed. :D

Do you switch out your jewelry?
I know women who accessorize well. I do not. Do you?
Maybe not jewelry, maybe scarves? Shoes?

I don't wear any jewelry anymore. I used to wear a necklace all the time as a symbol but I don't anymore. I had my ears pierced way back when, but I don't think they're holey anymore. I had my lobes pierced and three helix piercings in my left ear.

I also don't accessorize. I don't have the knack, but I dearly wish I did. I have some Christmas brooches that I'll wear in December, but that's the extent of my accessorizing. The scarves I wear are there to keep me warm, although I do care enough to pick scarves that I like rather than just go with whatever is the warmest.

Shoes. Nah. I'm a very boring shoe person, too, and don't have a varied collection to choose from. Basically black with different heigiths of heel.
