Before You Vote For Obama....

I said that because your attitude came with intelligence behind it. The post above yours is just dumb trolling and not worthy of any response. :rose:

But you're so sweet (and pretty too) that I've decided to vote just to please you. (maybe you'll be my valentine whenever that comes around again???)

I know that this is your idea of joining a serious debate:
They are all, evil creeps its time to take our nation back Piss on dc
Tired of them all.kick them all the freakin hell out of the US
How can we take you seriously when this is what you have to say? Back it up, man! Have the balls to say why you feel that way! What good is it to just bitch and whine like you're doing? Stand up and say something meaningful!

Before you vote for anyone.....

Remember, anyone running for president wants one thing: POWER. He (or she) will say and/or do anything to gain that powerful position. In 08, for the first time since I became eligible to vote, I may not vote for president.

If you are not voting for any of the presidents, then vote blank. If you have the pen and paper choice. Since then you can argue with the others who voted. But if you are a "sofa/couch voter" then you can´t argue with the other people.

Hey yeah, do we still have a blank write-in space in the U.S.? Because I would totally write in Jon Stewart or Jim Henson or somebody.

I'm serious this time

This time I am going to be really serious - no kidding - I mean this!

I really think that people should consider age when voting for political leaders.

In my opinion the cutoff should be 50 or younger. The line about "experience" is overstated (imho). I can say this because I'm mid 50's myself, and while I don't think I'm senile or a drooling zombie (yet) I can attest to the fact that the old brains just don't fire as quickly as the young ones. And when you consider that the one elected may be there for 4 to 8 years and might have to make a decision to push a button or something... well you don't want to start the game with someone who is already 60 or 65.

So, put me down for Obama (how old is he anyway?) (you all know I love Hilariously but she's just too old)

If you can´t vote blank in the USA anymore, then the democracy in USA: Is loosing a lot of ground in the democratic apartment. And I could go on in more philosophical terms, but I won´t since in text it doesn´t make that much sense. So I will not write it.

Obama is 46, so he makes your cutoff! Clinton is 60, but she seems vital.

Ronald Reagan seemed pretty sharp too when he first took occupancy of the big chair, but by the end of his term me thinks he was a bit "shaky at the controls".

See if this helps; try to picture your 65 or 70 year old grandmother or grandpapa at the helm and in control of the worlds largest economy and it's largest nuclear arsenal.

Bush congratulated Fogh by the way, with winning the government again in Denmark. But to me every thing that has to do with Bush makes me sick.

Sadly, the Danes are probably arsefucked for the next four years. And the poor people in Denmark are screwed, while the arsewipe of a Danish prime minister gives the Danes his stupid dumb arse smile.

And I am one of the "poor" people in Denmark. This just fucking sucks, but what can I do without doing something illegal ? nothing, other than voting for the "good" in about four years from now.

Naser Khader you are an arse . You thought you could get something good out of being an Anders Fogh Rasmussen supporter ? You are nothing but a fucking cunt, if you believe that.

Perhaps "life" (and as a part of that, politics) is actually "satire". In fact, I think you're right! It's all a big joke.... But then, why get so serious about what fool will be the next joker to occupy the oval office?

Actually, like I said – I’m seriously concerned.

In fact, I’m quite sure we’re witnessing the end of America. The last 10yrs have exampled precisely what ends a flourishing nation. All ya gotta do is look backward (greek, even).

I'm almost completely sure it's over. Everyone has convinced themselves to apologize for greatness. As if that's something to be guilty of. America used to invent everything. And now? We invent the right to suck at everything - hell, outsource it all. Let's not offend anyone. Why did that happen? It got easier, I guess. It got easy to sloth around and suck on crappy beer all day (I drink imports, thank you). America was always about a 'quick buck'. But we used to EARN that idea at least. Right now? We're on the bottom of the tank. We have NO ideas. And we all think we're entitled to the same majesty we've enjoyed for 50 yrs or so (after half our population busted their ass for your fuckin 'Beemer' to sit in your garage.)

We are no longer the dominant country. If we figure that out fast enough and re-dedicate ourselves to the idea of 'self-worth'? Maybe we have a chance. If not? Your children... are... fucked!

Sad to say, I don't think we "the people" will ever regain any real power or control over this government.

Demand that not be so, mate. I’d like to do it, but I can’t do it alone, right? How many people out there are thinking precisely the same? Who are the people you respect in history? Who’ve DEMANDED a difference? Singular individuals backed by people that believed.

So go out there and make em believe (posting here ain’t a bad start.)

1) perhaps we've outgrown the concept of government as established in the Constitution - too many people - too many agendas - too many global issues.

Too many people who forgot about the purpose. Too many people expecting the rest to abide by their specific interests. Too many people who don’t understand the concept of capitalism and why it support growth in all areas.

Too many lazy people. We won for too long.

2) if we "the people" did want to change the way business as usual is conducted in Washington, how would we go about it - certainly not by hoping in the dis-functional (corrupt) politicians who would be called upon to enact said changes (remember term limits?).

Okay, I stopped right there.

Certainly not by “hoping”? You’re hoping? Did Martin Luther King “hope”? No, he made himself accountable. And that moved people. It’s the same today.

Don’t sit there and ‘expect’ someone else to do it. That’s how people like me become drunkards…

I’ll have another now…

Clinton is popular with uneducated women (according to exhaustive polls). I think we need Guilianni. He was a great mayor, would make a great president. Clinton is shadowy and deceitful, I pray she loses.

... why do I ever bother with anything?

No one really at all gives a fuck.

How can this not be a thread worth commenting on? This is so enormously important (ergo, discouraging). I'm on the backend now. I used to be on the end that fought for the right to have a word. But now the 'word' is so available, that... the 'kids' don't value it?

They could care less. They'd rather have more 'friends' on myspace. That's worth pursuing.

You know what? Your elders are not gonna be there to prop you up forever, you lazy motherfuckers. You can all tag each other and go, 'Derm, what the fuck happened, this shit is falling apart all aound us. I was pretty sure the 36" HDTV told me it's all gewd; more bling please!'

But your phonetone was wrong.
It's not all good.

Many of us crumpled straight down with those twin towers. Got devastated dust like that. We tried to just get up n' stuff'. But maybe we haven't. Maybe we're looking around, dazed, and wondering, 'Who's behind us'? And not only are we bewildered by the 'unrealistic' devastation of that day, and making knee-jerk moronically freedom-forgetting moves, but we see the reaction, and we see you - the young. And the people running this country. And we think...

It's... fucking... over.

And it will be. I assure you. Unless YOU do something about it.

You're going to end endless American effort? Your fathers and above, throwing themselves at bullets and steel... just so you could grab more for yourself? Your mothers, and their mothers, weathering the hurt and busting their ass at home for their man (and family), TRUSTING. Busting a gut for America. You're going to get arrogant and consider your general state a given? You'll play Xbox forever?! No worries.

Yeah? Well FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!

I spent 25 years of my fucked up dysfunctional life hurting for YOUR better days. And I have NOTHING to show for it. All this shit that's occuring around me? Politically, Globally, Commecially, Internally? All this shit I'm worried about? Cuz I care about America? I'll tell you what - YOU fucking take care of it. Okay shitheads?

You go out and take care of it. Post about Britany and what kind of skank socks match a torn sweatshirt. Blast someone who makes you feel guilty about yourself. Go rob from anyone who's not 'smart enough' to assume your crime, cuz 'everybody does it'. And by all means, VOTE NEGLIGENCE!

You fucking idiots.

Give me a knife and go live somehwere else... scumbags.

I haven't agreed with much of anything that you've said, and this recent post is nearly offensive, so I haven't had any reason to respond. I was happy keeping my mouth shut, but since you seem to want a response...

Get off your high horse. The choices you made for your life were right for YOU. That doesn't make them right for me or anyone else. You have no business telling me what my priorities should be. And I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but THINGS CHANGE. Who said America has to be around forever anyway? Rome was also a massive superpower, and where did they go?

And what EXACTLY are you doing for America, besides bellyaching over the youth of today? Maybe you should get involved with Rock the Vote, the Youth Activism Project, YouthNoise, or one of the many other similar organizations. All you're doing here is griping about how WE aren't changing the world, but YOU aren't changing the future either.

I was kind of reluctant to say anything as well thinking that perhaps I was the one who turned the conversation onto such a negative track. But, since Etoile is willing to keep it going, I guess I will say what I was thinking;

XXplorher, way too much negativity man!

The piece that you quoted me on was mostly hyperbole on my part - some truth but mostly hot air.

I am always amused when people cite the Greeks or Rome when speaking of the end of America. I'm amused because the last time I looked the Greeks are still with us and Rome is alive and well (along with the people living there). For the most part America has had a mixed history- some good, some bad (just like the rest of mankind). The last fifty years or so are an anomaly of extraordinarily "good times" driven primarily by the fact that we were the major un-bombed country after WWII. It is naive to think that the rest of the world is just going to sit back and let us be the "big dog" forever. (plus, I don't really think it is good for us) I think what we are seeing is not so much the end of America, but a leveling of the living standards in the rest of the world and finally the full resurgence of a bombed out Europe and Asia. In other words, just because others are doing better doesn't mean we are doing worse.

America (or something in it's place) will be here as long as man is on the earth. It will not be the same as it was for "the Beaver" in the 1950's nor will it be the same as it is today. But just like every other people group, life will go forward. And it will probably be better tomorrow than it is today. (for example, when I was a boy in the 1950's we hauled our water in a bucket and crapped in an outhouse - I'm a lot better off today than we were then and that's the period that many say was America's brightest hour). But for it to be better, we need to be better as well and that means less anger and negativity and more love and hope. (and I still think Obama offers some of that - so get out and vote!)

Finally, if you just can't believe that America isn't doomed - then at least do yourself a favor and try to ignore it. I hate to see people so tied up in unhappiness over things like this. Your ruining your life with this type of thought pattern - and for what? and to what purpose? - Just chill out!

alaskabibear: Etoile meant Rome as in The Roman empire. Since we don´t have the Roman empire anymore, and neither do we have any of the advanced ancient greek civilizations .
Such as the Minoan Civilization .

I guess I didn't make my point clearly - I'll try again;

Just because the "ancient empires" failed and no longer exist seems irrelevant to me. Tell me any of the major ancient empires that still exist? Greek? Roman? Egyptian? Chinese? Babylonian? Aztec?... The point is, empires change - but the people groups living in the regions of those empires go on. And ( and this is the important part) perhaps the people in those former "empires" are now better off than when the Emperor ruled. (Wolfman, you're a European so tell me, would you like for Rome to still be the world power and you could bow down to Caesar? or do you think you are better off today than the average citizen of Rome under the Caesars?)

So, that's why it's humorous to me when people cite the fall of some past empire and try to equate that with the demise of America (for example, the oft heard cry; "if we don't get rid of all the homosexuals we will fall like the Romans did."- that's pretty ignorant, don't you think?) Bottom line is that America will change as all nation states do - the important thing is not to hope for no change nor to hope to emulate some failed ancient empire, but to work to shape the change to benefit the people who live in a place in a way that all can live a better life. And in general, I think the changes that have occurred in the world since the demise of the "great empires" have been a benefit to the "average human occupant" of those former "great empires". (Granted, it's been a bit rough on the emperors, kings, queens and other "gods and nobles" - but, oh well...)

But really the main point I was trying to make is just this; we all have only this one life to live here. I just hate to see someone get so embroiled and bitter over politics and the forces that shape the flow of human existence that we as individuals have only limited control over. When we take our final breath I doubt if any of us will be thinking about whether or not Hilary or Obama won the election in 2008. "Seek peace and pursue it with all of your strength and you will find her in the quiet of your heart..."

meanwhile in Rochester,NH...

My prayer/hope is that Hillary get the nomination,be defeated in the election, and she and her grotesque husband go away permanently.

Obama has as much of a chance of getting the nomination as me fucking Lewinsky with a cigar then shooting my load on her blue dress.

fuck the left...figuratively speaking.

alaskabibear: the only real reason why, The Roman empire didn´t go up and invaded Scandinavia is because of our, at the time cold winters. But I wouldn´t even bow down to my own queen. But I would protect her, if I was her bodyguard.

semen4her: I am saying the same thing about the extreme left around here. But over there, then "the left side" is probably more good than bad. And what do I mean by that ? well you have two parties, you don´t really a real government you have two chambers, and of those two evils, then the democrats are the smallest evil of the two. So you say potato I say fuck you ;) lol Nemi rocks with these strange comics, does any one read The Nrowegian Nemi comic ?

Well sure, people still LIVE there, but the reason I mentioned the Roman Empire in response to XXplorher is because he or she was being melodramatic about America ceasing to exist. My point was that empires/nations rise and fall all the time, and life goes on. So I think you and I are in agreement, alaskabibear - we are just approaching it differently perhaps. :)

All those still exist, although they're countries now.

Greek empire: Greece
Roman empire: Italy and a lot of other countries surrounding it as well
Egyptian empire: Egypt and some other African countries
Chinese empire: China
Babylonian empire: gone
Aztec empire: gone

... never mind.
