Yep, we're both trying to put out a little brush fire I think, just slapping at it from a couple of different directions.

But we are both saying the same thing, nations and kings come and go, but life goes forward ( usually improving as it goes).

The Roman Empire is gone. Just because there are some people living in Italy now does not mean the Roman Empire survived. The Roman Empire ceased to exist before the year 500AD.

Same for Ancient Egypt. Do you see any pharaohs living in Cairo these days? The Ancient Egyptians, the people who built the Sphinx and the Pyramids, were conquered by the Romans around 30 BC.

Although these people have physical descendants, we are talking about the political empires, which is in fact what America is too. Just because there have been people living in "America" since the 1500s, does not mean the United States of America, the current world power, existed before 1776.

There are ALWAYS physical descendants. But once again, XXplorher was talking about the end of the USA, as in the country I live in with the governmental structure that exists today. The USA is not going to be around forever.

XXplorher may be right that we should work to preserve America. We like the way we live now, so it's a good idea. But it is NOT unusual if we fail, because nations come and go all the time in history.

On the Dem side, Kucinich don't stand a shot so fuck Dems. Hillary or Obama ain't gettin my vote and it's not because they're minorities.

On the Republican side, I'd pick Ron Paul, as he seems different than most Republican candidates. I doubt he'll win though. Fuck the elections. We need a 3rd party anyway.

Of course she is allowed to voice her opinion, but I fear something bad will happen if Obama comes to power. That is why I feel, Oprah should be a little more quiet about her stand point. And after all, too much shit is already happening around this battle of the beasts. But anyway I hope the democrats will win whether it is a black or a white president.
And I hope for the best, if Obama becomes the next president of USA.

Hillary gets my vote

You cannot turn on the tv or open up a newspaper without seeing Oprah & Obama together. I am the furthest thing from being a racist but I do need to ask this question: Is she supporting him because of his beliefs or his color? I truly hope she is voting for him because of what he stands for instead of his color. I do think that many black people will vote for him due to his color, many women will vote for Hillary only because she is a woman, and many mormons will vote for the Romney (I think thats his name).

Isn't who we vote for supposed to be private? Oh, by the way ALL of Hollywood told us to vote for Al Gore and you see where that got us.

It annoys me whenever I see celebrities jump on the political bandwagon or use their popularity to influence other voters. This goes with Oprah, Barbara Streisand, etc. People will vote for whichever politician their favorite celebrity says to vote for. Its pathetic how people cannot think for themselves.

It really disgusts me how people hired Jan Adams (you remember him. He is the doctor that killed Kanye West's mother) just because Oprah had him on her tv show.

Celebrity influencing our decision in politics, doctors, etc really pisses me off. Most of them have ZERO talent but yet just because they have more money then us it makes them right. PATHETIC!

You might be right, I've thought of that too. But then again, it's easy to say that, when it might not really be the case. Maybe she DOES like him for his politics and they both happen to be black. It's hard to know for sure.

many yrs ago I was watching a tv show (i refuse to say the name of the show out of embarrassment) and the black guy said to the white girl "black ppl cannot be racists".

I found that to be the most racist comment I ever heard. They stand by this comment in order to protect themselves.

What is it called when the NFL must interview a black coach before he hires any race? I remember a few yrs ago a team was definitely hiring this 1 coach (who happened to be white) and when they spoke with a black coach the black coach said "I know you are hiring the other coach so why are you interviewing me". The owner of the other team said "because by law we have to interview at least 1 black coach".

I find the whole idea of race an outdated idea: it was used in the colonial age and by some countries during Apartheid/racial segregation-periods, but now the whole concept of race can be ignored in my eyes; after all, we're all human so we're all alike in some way.

On a good note I am glad that everyone removed that NASTY word from their vocabulary. If whites can't say it then neither should black, greens, blues, etc. We can't have separate rules for different races.

We all bleed the same color therefore we should all be the same color. Meaning, there is no color. Judge the person by the person not by the color of their skin.

I do not agree with the whole political voting system. How can a person with the most votes still not win? You do not have to explain it to me I know how but it does not make sense to me - Electoral votes. How confusing! But that is another topic for another time.

On a road trip in the wilds near Sacramento, I met some nudist lesbian Republicans. Yep, it's true. And, naked and sitting by the fire beside the gurgling Sacramento River, they broke it down for me.

They weren't Bush lovers (insert witty lesbian pun here) but they believed in gun ownership and the right to bear arms, to counter the deficient funding of public institutions, for which they didn't want to raise taxes. They believed that if they ever had a kid, (s)he'd go to private school.

One of them thought Iraq was a righteous war, one of them thought America shouldn't intervene in ANY country EVER. They were 420 friendly (we all got baked) and they owned an enviable collection of sex toys. They kissed often (one of them was thrown out of her home in Texas for being a dyke). They were white as the moon with necks as red as blood. I found them beautiful.

I'll still vote Obama.
