If you build it, they will come.

Shame

By Haha_on_me

Please only whisper,
when you speak my name.
For the pain is to unbearable,
from the pleasures of shame.

Oh the web we weave,
is like scattered glass.
The sharp edges of pain,
are entwined in our past.

The pleasures we seek,
no consequences we thought.
Will reap years of torment,
and shame for us all.

Shame has colors,
of varying degrees.
From black to white,
and no color for peace.

I am in awe...I just saw the whole thread. I am in awe of how developed your talent is.

Are you of the Native American heritage? I love this whole thread. You exude creativity. There is no way your creativity can stay hidden.

I love it. Your poems and your voice. The artist within me appreciates your eagle picture as well.

Thank you. I am not particularly fond of my voice, but sometimes it is easier to get your intended feeling across better by reading.

I loved drawing the eagle.

Thank you, I appreciate you saying that.

I do have a small amount of Native American ancestry, I am a mutt of sorts. I love studying the cultures of my past.

When my dad retired he assembled a small woodshop in his garage. On days that i could, i would piddle around and make things with him. I miss those days. I was messing around laminating wood when i came up with the idea to build a semi tractor and trailer. I remember as a kid on vacation, my brothers and i would try to get the semi drivers to honk at us by making the honking motion with our arms. We were always so excited when they obliged. This truck i made for my boys to play with is red oak cut, carved, sanded and waxed to stay pretty. It held up so well that even all of my grandkids have played with it.

That’s so neat!!

And it means 1000x’s more than any store bought trinket ever could because it was made with your own hands and the time and love put into it shows.

You’ve got some lucky kiddos/grands ♥️

You are so right. I am afraid they will be wrastl'n over dad's (grandad's) stuff when I'm spent.

Insects. Insects are just so neat when you get up close and personal. From the Monarch to the Red Admiral butterflies to the juvenile stink bug, they all have something interesting to offer in terms of beauty. There is beauty everywhere, just look around you, you'll see.

Not only are things created on my homestead but grown as well. The corn is Meerschaum Pipe and White Lighting Corn. In the photo, the corn is fourteen and a half feet tall, but topped out at nineteen feet nine inches by the end of the summer.

okay I'm jealous! I want tall corn like this!

After having looked back on all of this. I am so impressed and so happy you have shared all of this. All things I knew very little about you. So this makes me happy. I love the drawings and the poems and the lovely voice that read them. The pictures are so vivid and lovely. (well except that last bug that looks like his mission in life is to blow up on you and leave yellow goo on you )

Subscribing ;)

Oh thank you so much for the beautiful words of encouragement, and thank you for the photo posting help. I really thought you would have seen most of this the first time around. I'm glad it gives you better insight to me.

hahaha, I wish I had taken a picture when the corn was nearly twenty feet tall. People would drive by and ask about it all the time.

Yeah, that stink bug would love to share his stench.

Choices. We all have choices. What road to take, what path to cross, when to begin, when to end. The beauty of life is that you do have choices. When I was fourteen, I chose to take up banjo playing. That choice has led me to many exciting adventures, adventures I would have missed otherwise. I'm not a great banjo player, but I can call myself ok. Regardless, I have fun playing.

This is my banjo and I, my choice of musical vehicles to the journey I am on.

You're welcome for the help. 💋

I still have a guitar upstairs from when I was in elementary school. At that point the only way that you could get out of class was if you played an instrument. I decided that I would try to learn how to play this guitar. I never did succeed. I did do a paired pic with it some years ago. 😂

I started out on piano, switched to drums, picked up the banjo, then guitar and bass, now mandolin. Chicks dig drummers. .........or so I was told.:)
I remember your pair guitar photo.🌹😘

I can't say that I have ever seen a girl throw her underwear to the piano player.😈

Thank you. Life is a beautiful story and we are fortunate to be the one holding the pen. Thank you for visiting and commenting, it means a lot.🌹

Cowboy boots have always been a staple in my wardrobe. From a little boy playing with his Johnny West, to a young man showing cattle in the 4-H Fair, to now, cowboy boots have always been there. I whittled this cowboy boot pencil holder out of a scrap piece of wood. I carved the piping, heel, and added an ostrich type texture to the foot area to aid in realism.

I'm going to mark this and come back to it soon. Some of my best friends are here!

Coming up on two years, I ventured to the Northwest Pacific area and could not believe the beautiful sights. I drove down from Portland, Oregon to the Redwood National Forest in Eureka, California. This is one of the views in the forest.

I enjoy traveling around visiting battlefields. This lone sentinel still stands guard over those that have fallen.

If you wear it, they will cum...

Maybe that's a new thread title...:cattail:

One of these days I’m gonna get you out here to visit the battle of the bales sight in Lexington ( MO, not KY) and tour the Anderson house out there

I did study up on it a few years ago, just never stopped to see it. One day you will have to escort me.
