plotwork

I tend to hate rigid structure when I write. I'm another of those who, in school, wrote the story, then came back and made an outline of it.

Usually, I get an idea for something somewhere in the middle, and have to dream up some way to start. After that, I just sit down and type.

Anybody who's seen my posts around here have heard the "let the characters decide" thing as far as where the story goes. Many's the time where I've gotten on a roll, thinking I know where I'm heading, then get partway through and wonder, "How the hell did I get here?"

So, I guess what I do is somewhere short of automatic writing.

When in doubt, whip it out

I can whip it out on the bus, in the john, in meetings, anywhere the inspration catches me.

Dear SubJ.

If you make a habit of doing that, I hope you have a good lawyer.
