Porn Ban in 2025

Trump is not an idealogue. He doesn't give a shit about porn, or abortion, or any of it. The sole question he's going to ask is: what does this do for me? Opposing Roe v. Wade tapped into a huge segment of the American population that is rabidly anti-abortion, and they adore him now. He loves the applause. There's no similar movement against porn. I don't see Trump going in this direction, and I don't see the courts going that way either. I think this is a nothingburger. Remember that Scalia, the most conservative member of the Court at the time, was the author of the opinion that held flag-burning is protected by the First Amendment. At least several of the current Supreme Court justices are likely to have similarly robust First Amendment positions. There's no actual evidence that a broad anti-porn initiative is going to go anywhere. I don't think there's a substantial enough constituency for it.
You bring up a good point. Trump doesn’t care if our rights are protected or not.

No, he doesn't. I don't think he gives a shit one way or another. But I also don't think he's trying to take your rights away, either. He just wants to do whatever he can so people say nice things about him on TV. This is the interpretation of his own closest White House advisers, and I believe them.

It can’t be both. He either doesn’t care or he isn’t going to. He did during his first term and he has said he wants to remove lots of other things that Project 2025 wants to remove.

Sound familiar?

I think you are being naive. I think you are playing best case scenario. You'll have to pardon my directness but I heard a lot of this type of equivocation prior to Trump being elected in 2016. About all sorts of topics including Roe.

Question for you, if Trump wins, and then for whatever reason dies, and then we have the completely off the wall manipulatable Vance.... What in American life are you willing to say no biggie to lose? Remember this is the man that has gone back and forth and will essentially do what he has been told to by his handlers. In this case his handlers would be the Heritage Foundation.

There's a lot to unpack here.

I'm not naive. I'm skeptical. I don't believe things without evidence. I have a low enough opinion of Trump, and I've been repeatedly unpleasantly surprised by his successes, that I'm not going to discount the possibility of anything. There's all kinds of bad stuff he COULD do. But it's not at all logical or empirically sound to say "Here are all the bad things that happened before with Trump" and then to conclude "So it's likely that everything bad I can imagine is going to happen with Trump." That's not a sound way of thinking, and I think there's a lot of that going on when people try to predict what Trump is going to do.

I focus on the bad things Trump has actually said he will do, like abandoning Ukraine, continuing to talk up Putin and other authoritarians around the world, peddling lies about stolen elections, undermining NATO, dramatically increasing our budget deficits, idiotically raising tariffs, etc. There's more than enough stuff to focus on that he's said he's going to do without speculating about what he might do without evidence.

I don't believe Trump has handlers. Nobody handles Donald Trump. The closest thing he's had to a Rasputin is Steve Bannon, and that dude is in prison now. There's no evidence that the Heritage Foundation is handling him. He's ignorant, so he has to turn to somebody to help him do things like pick Supreme Court justices. He relied on the Federalist Society for that in his first term, and from the standpoint of Trump and his supporters it was a spectacular success. That doesn't mean they are his handlers. Trump chooses people and policies cafeteria-style depending upon whatever he thinks is going to benefit him in the next 15 minutes. It's a bizarre and unprincipled style of leadership, but it seems to have worked for him.

I have absolutely no clue what Vance would do if he became president. He strikes me as a cypher, a chameleon. I don't know if he really believes anything. He's a populist, and I have no patience with populism of any kind. The only thing I like about him is his wife, who seems to be highly intelligent and is kind of hot, too.

A lot of people think they can rely on the safeguards - our judiciary, our politicians, our laws, our institutions. Normally I'd agree. At least if we are talking about 40 years ago. However, the Heritage Foundation has done much to erode our judiciary - we literally have 6 justices who committed perjury in their confirmation hearings and there are zero consequences. Stare decisis has been utterly dispensed with when faced with competition from their ideologies.

50 years of conservative propaganda has eroded much of the faith Americans held in our institutions. That damage is compounded by repeated incursions from GOP policy makers which slash budgets, combine departments, undercut experts etc. And now with Chevron gone, those institutions will take more hits - unless codified into law.

The GOP literally judge shops to hear about healthcare - see case regarding mifepristone. Among other things not limited to, but including environmental issues and voting rights. Speaking of the GOP they are now essentially a cult that requires cult like allegiance. Lockstep allegiance to Trump or out.

All of the things that would and could be relied on to protect us and keep things "between the ditches" have been slowly eroded over the past five decades. Little by little.

And on top of all that, Trump will not have the naivete of a first timer in office if re-elected. There will be no John Kelly, no adults in the room, no one to stop him from doing completely illogical and irrational things.

Trump does have handlers. Elon Musk, Putin, anybody that puts enough money in his pocket. And he will be more loyal to them than to America.

My point in all this is that there is zero predictability when it comes to Trump and I'm not willing to put anything past him or leave anything to chance. I'm not running around like Henny Penny saying the sky is falling. I am point blank saying I don't trust him to be responsible or to be held to a responsible standard.

Like the man says, nothing is off the table. That's the reality of Trump. There's no predictability, no loyalty to America or our constitution.

Will they ban porn? Oddly enough, really likely not - it's consumed mostly by men, so like viagra it will enjoy a level of protection. Does that mean I think they won't try or try to do other things that would make it more difficult or cause other infringements related to it? I absolutely do think they will. Because zealots don't quit. Until they're stopped.

After the last almost 20 years, my general approach to the GOP zealotry, Trump and the Heritage fanatics is that I don't think they should be given an inch - because they will take that mile.

ETA... Vance will do what he's told when he's told and how's he told. He has no spine, no convictions and no gumption.

I’ll co-sign ever word of that ^.

👍

I’ll also add;

Who’s to say DonOld wouldn’t exercise his newfound immunity power - with the aid of a complicit / compliant congress and military stooges - to remain in power.

If this election is somehow corrupted by the new MAGA "election officials" in key positions, and the MAGAt "republicans" DO somehow gain control of the presidency, the House, and the Senate (along with control of the SCOTUS), then anything is possible.

🤬

Hell, DonOld could probably pull off a coup in 2028 to remain in power without help from any entities other than a corrupted military, the CIA, and the MAGAt militia. (Especially if DonOld surreptitiously imported some operatives from Russia to assist in some of the necessary wet-work that would be required.)

😳

😑

🤬

There's faux populism, which Vance promotes, and there's real populism, such as Bernie Sanders. Populism simply refers to an appeal to the interests and hearts and minds of the masses instead of the elites. The latter isn't generally bad, but the former is. It's a mirage, not the real water. That being said, make no mistake. Trump is an increasingly demented, deranged shell of his former self, and he knows it. He's going down and he's eager to take us all down with him. He has nothing to lose at this point, and the more I see of things, well, he knows that the institutions have been discredited, often by their own crimes, corruption, deceit, failure, and malfeasance. They're the lords of misrule. However, he's also a lord of misrule, and he wants to bring more lords of misrule with him. He's not the antidote to the poison. He's just another kind of poison. He's not there to save America. He's there to loot America, wholesale.

Now he's pushing lies about legal immigrants and about Jews. At this point, it would be unforgiveable to support him. I've been accused of nihilism, but he's the real McCoy there. I wouldn't call him Hitler, he's definitely a demagogue. A very dangerous demagogue, worse than Huey Long, who at least wanted to help a lot of people in the midst of his dangerous and reckless methods. He's worse than Ross Perot, who at least wanted to balance the budget and save the manufacturing base. To the extent that he has a political philosophy, it's a warped paleo-conservatism wrapped in a populist facade. He's also quite willing to work with the religious right, a movement to which I once belonged in my youth, and I can tell you, they will use him to get their way, just as he uses them. As they do that, the biggest victim will be America and its people, because they ultimately believe in an America where everyone should just magically advance themselves with only private charity to help them and nothing else, and they naturally think that the poor need to be saved from their own vices, which hold them back or whatever. Oh, and climate change is a hoax, of course.

The reality is that life sucks here nowadays, in spite of the greatness of America the ideal, the aspiration, in contrast to America the reality on the ground. Because, as I've said before, America is rich, but Americans are poor.

To be fair, he said that in May and he also said he'd have a policy "very shortly", and as usual he has not followed up on that. But everyone knows the forces that brought Roe down are also after contraception. Justice Thomas as good as promised to overturn Griswold v Connecticut if given the chance in his Dobbs opinion.

Trump himself probably doesn't care either way. But that hardly matters.

Porn Will Be Great Again!

Slim, young, submissive women with a pretty face, long legs and great tits who cant wait to suck your cock.

All you weirdos with your sick perverted shit will be deported back to the inland of Gaza, Lebanon, Albania etc after the coastal vacation condos are built.

You can fuck each other in the ass over there on your monthly day off after cleaning and goundskeeping.

*yawns*

Ya, wake me up when Lit lefties show any such thing actually happening. 🤭😄

Quite simply, Vance will do whatever his billionaire patron Peter Thiel directs him to do.

Chances are, Trump's cognitive decline will markedly worsen over the next few years, I believe it's doubtful Trump will complete his second term in office.

Yeah, my money is that he’ll switch to his base instincts. Grift, whores, and rage on twitter.

Looks like I will now have to browse furniture stores and book private islands.

If I owned this site, I’d certainly keep a close eye on anti-porn action federally and at the state level.

Anti-porn actions would be presented as “protecting children”, and this site is vulnerable because it doesn’t attempt to prevent kids from accessing the site.

The states might be the likelier source of trouble, because Republican governors are extremely publicity hungry and lashing out at porn sites would draw attention.

This site is not vulnerable as to count #2.

This site is too insignificant to be in anyone's crosshairs and Trump has been a lot of things, but Social Crusader has never been one of them. He just thinks he's better at the job. He's going to ignore porn and so are the majority of his party because they have pressing economic agenda items to pursue.

The American people turned you're fired into, holy shit, you're rehired; the McTemp was not up to the job.
