Wellbutrin's a wonder drug. Some people hate it, but it's the only reason I can get out of bed on an everyday basis. It also hits norepinephrine, which helps with motivation as well.
It was a magic bullet for me the first time I took it-- maybe five years ago? But expensive, and I thought I was doing well without it. Now I know how wrong I was.

Sort of off topic, but how are things going with you and remembering to take the thyroid meds? I recall you were struggling with that awhile ago.
I am getting much better at that, too.

Thanks, guys

Things rarely go straight to hell in a handbasket overnight, do they? It just sneaks up on you so slowly that you don't realize just how bad it's gotten.

Glad you are feeling better now, though. :D :rose:

Congrats on finding your way to feeling better! :rose:

This morning I used Yelp to find a diner near my doctor's office. One of the results was Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. As Dr. Sheldon Cooper (he's not my doctor) would say, "In what universe is Ruth's Chris a diner?"

Its not very often that I actually miss having television. But then someone quotes one of my favorite tv shows and I miss it terribly. And our library only has seasons two and three on dvd.

I don't think some people realize how words or gestures can be misconstrued and how they make others feel...or maybe they do and the receiving end just takes awhile to understand what's actually going on; somtimes it takes me awhile because I have faith and believe in people...how ignorant is that!!!!

Well.

I'm not sure if this says good things about the brand of rubbing alcohol I buy, or bad things about the brand of paint the landlord buys.

The thing I don't like about shopping on Etsy is that it only shows 20 items per page.

I don't like flipping pages so often.

I don't get it.

The whole transaction takes place electronically.
The transaction today is based on actions that were approved last week.
So why would a holiday, the day before yesterday, hold up a transaction today?

"The Grasshopper and the Ants" has to be one of the stupidest children's stories in the universe.

So, the grasshopper hangs out and plays his fiddle all spring, summer and fall, while the industrious little ants spend all their time toiling and socking away food for the winter. Then, when winter arrives and the grasshopper is cold and hungry, he knocks on the ants' door. The ants proceed to let him in and the grasshopper then passes the winter playing his fiddle in the nice, warm ant house while eating their food.

What is the moral of this story exactly?

"If you want to be a slacker, better be good at the fiddle"?

Its not like the ants don't benefit. They have music to work to in the gathering season and music all winter, too. So in a way the grasshopper is being paid to entertain.

Agreed. So, then, what is the moral?

See, when I was a kid, I thought it was about how you're supposed to work hard or you'll starve and freeze to death. The grasshopper was presented as basically a lovable idiot. But when I grew up I thought of that story and was all, "Heywaittaminute!"

Well, if it makes you feel better in the original story the ants refuse to let the grasshopper in, and the grasshopper starves/freezes to death.

The moral of that story is to prepare for hard times or you'll die.

Lately it seems as if Bloved has learned Finnish and started to troll my local forum. The only notable difference between Bloved and this dude is that he's very into the Torture Garden, but berates all other clubs, communities and what not.

In any case, popcorn has been consumed in abundance lately.

THE EARTH keeps some vibration going
There in your heart, and that is you.
And if the people find you can fiddle,
Why, fiddle you must, for all your life.
What do you see, a harvest of clover?
Or a meadow to walk through to the river?
The wind’s in the corn; you rub your hands
For beeves hereafter ready for market;
Or else you hear the rustle of skirts
Like the girls when dancing at Little Grove.
To Cooney Potter a pillar of dust
Or whirling leaves meant ruinous drouth;
They looked to me like Red-Head Sammy
Stepping it off, to “Toor-a-Loor.”
How could I till my forty acres
Not to speak of getting more,
With a medley of horns, bassoons and piccolos
Stirred in my brain by crows and robins
And the creak of a wind-mill—only these?
And I never started to plow in my life
That some one did not stop in the road
And take me away to a dance or picnic.
I ended up with forty acres;
I ended up with a broken fiddle—
And a broken laugh, and a thousand memories,
And not a single regret.

~Edgar Lee Masters "Fiddler Jones" from his mighty Spoon River Anthology

I always liked that ending better. Even as a kid.

Then again, I've always been one to work very hard and expect to not have to share the praise for it.

Ahhh, so it's one of those kid's stories that they "niced up". Now it makes sense. Not that I necessarily agree with the moral, because I don't, but that ending seems more in line with the message the story seemed to be aiming for.

THE EARTH keeps some vibration going...

Oh! That was lovely Stella. Thanks!:)

Now that's a moral I can get behind.

My interview went horribly.
I wasn't sure I wanted the job, but I didn't want to bomb the interview either.

I think I convinced myself that I was not qualified for the position. Which I must have been, I got an interview after all.
