Oh man, I like being complimented on my laugh, and I also hate it. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it catches me off guard a little bit. Who compliments a laugh? For the record, I’m talking the full surprised belly laugh. I always think it’s too loud.

I wish someone complimented me on the full belly laugh because my dog's reactions to it has shattered all my beliefs. There is something about the sound of it that makes him go nuts.

And no, it doesn't happen with anyone but me. What an honor.

I couldn’t really say what I am complimented on most because I don’t really hear them when they come. I tend to automatically dismiss them as false compliments or platitudes or just tune them out. It’s a thing.

See. This is where I sense the frustration from the compliment givers side.

I'm generally nice to people but, like a few people stated, I don't give real compliments unless I mean them. Giving one feels weirdly vulnerable to me. And I've given you, madam, a few sincere ones and I'm sad they were written off. I totally get it. I do it too. But still kinda sad.

My cooking. Maybe not the answer expected, I dunno, but I love cooking, put a lot of myself into it - love and passion, not hair, skin cells and special sauce you dirty people! - I know what I do consistently is good, I know I have things I have been working on and perfecting over the years, i get a lot of joy and satisfaction from spreading happiness and eating is a major outlet for that. I get compliments regularly and always look for feedback, try new things, dishes and styles. Sometimes the new things work, sometimes they really don't.
Is analogy for life in a way..

Well, I too am a good Southern girl here. Someone gives me a compliment and I just give them my best "Thank yew" and deflect, change the subject, say something nicer back, or hide behind the nearest azalea bush.

Like @StacyLeigh my views have been colourd by having had an ampics gallery (not here) in the past. In that context, I sometimes valued compliments from strangers more than friends, which I appreciate was unkind and ungrateful, but friends are expected to compliment us while strangers aren't. But my butt has got me the most compliments online and IRL.

But without repeating what others have said, I tend to appreciate compliments on what I do, anything I achieve, and how I behave as a human being rather than how I look. Though I'm also enough of a whore to admit that comments like "Fuck, I want that in my mouth" work too, especially when they aren't referring to my grilled cheese sandwiches.

I don’t take compliments well. I usually throw a smoke bomb down and dive out of the nearest window.
It’s nice to know that people don’t think I suck, but I am very uncomfortable with compliments. I tend to look for the criticisms more because they are usually more honest, beneficial and productive.

I also don’t take (most) criticism personally as much as they are an insight into how I am perceived. I will decide if it has merit or not—and I think that’s where people who don’t take criticism well fail.

Scenario: I take my pants off and a girl says “Nice dick, Loser Dick!” I will probably take that personally, and I may need some reassurance from a real human that my dick is awesome, or at least moderately acceptable. BUT, once I get over my insecure-penis-man-fear, I will most likely deduce that that girl was an asshole with serious issues and take the lesson that, okay, I may not have the most awesome porn dick in the world, but it works and will make someone happy! Therefore, I can learn humility, personal acceptance and the realization that some chicks are Skank-Ass Hoes.

Whereas, a girl who says “Your cock is majestic and proof that God exists”, I will take the compliment, but also seriously question her judgement and wonder if her input has value.

I try to avoid commenting on people’s looks because I believe we are all more than our looks. I especially hate when people compliment kids this way - he’s so handsome! She’s so cute! We are all taught our worth (or lack of) in terms of appearance at such a young age. I’d rather be complimented on a skill or an achievement. Great job on the event you organized - you’re great at it. That dish you made was so delicious - you’re a great cook. Etc.

I often get compliments on my eyebrows and skin. I say thank you and appreciate.

These days, people tell me I’m so strong because of the whole tit cancer thing. But it’s so half assed to me. What’s my alternative there? That’s filed under compliments that make the giver feel better about themselves, I think. Maybe I’m critical or sick of it? Who knows.

Alright I want to hear your Food Wierdsies. What foods do you put together in weird ways? What do you eat that makes others raise an eyebrow? What do you refuse to eat that shocks people? What foods do you get creative with?

I love pizza and can be most creative with that... yes a deliciously sweet pineapple belongs on my pizza. When I managed a pizza place my got to was pep, Ham, olives, bell peper, onion, gar, pinapple.

Strangest combo... shit I am a picky eater so it is ussually my eye brows raised...

I don't know if I call it weird...but I believe in using Boursin cheese in mashed potatoes to create variety (sometimes i want something more than butter and cream or sour cream) or in my lasagna white sauce. I also add molasses in baked beans. And I use crisco...not butter in cookies. Keep your shit cookies...my dog won't eat them why should I?

I am not a chocolate fan. So moles are out.

I try get creative with everything

I love a peanut butter grilled cheese which gets odd looks. Marmite with practically anything, again not everyone likes.

I hate olives, pickled eggs, aubergines, cooked Bell peppers - raw their fine, hate them cooked- get called odd for that.

I love to cook and get inspired by everything, sometimes I open a cupboard and my fridge, see what I've got and think about what goes together.
