❓ PLP Inquires II ❓

OK so... I always felt really weird about not actually having a crush on any celebs when I was young. Not a one. Back then it always felt like, "oh hey, what's the point, these people might as well be imaginary."
Ever practical! Is there any normal person that you look back and say "Alpine, my fine chap, what the actual fuck?"

Hah! Not so much "what the actual fuck?" but recently an ex changed her profile pic on FB and the algo showed me, and I had two reactions. 1) Oh! I'd forgotten we were even still friends, 2) how interesting, once upon a time you left me feeling all messed up in great and awful ways, and now... nothing, just neutral except some recognition. You're just another person now. Someone in my past who I haven't interacted with in any way for years and years, and likely never will again. It made me reflect a lot on the importance of keeping strong bonds with the people you care about.

Is there a celebrity (or hell tell me about the real life people too!) that in your childhood you had a major crush on that now, when you look back, you can't understand why you were so smitten? 😨😱
Oh god there was this boy in school that I decided was gonna be my future husband. I can not remember why at all because we weren't friends and barely even talked to each other.
He had the most tragic hair - practically bald except for a fringe (bangs?). He thought himself a rapper and was constantly practising - I thought he was so tortured and misunderstood 🤦‍♀️ but he was just a gobby little shit.

The first girl I remember having a crush on was in 1st grade. Pretty sure her name was Jenny. She was faster than me and apparently that’s all it took to get my attention. She was going to be my wife and we were going to have children that were faster yet. 😆

in 3rd grade I saw Jurrasic Park and fell hopelessly in love with Jeff Goldblum. He was funny, smart, acerbic, interesting to listen to and look at. As an adult, I mean, I love JG but I don't feel the same way anymore. Sorry Jeff!

In fourth grade, I decided that Michael would be the most practical choice of husband. We shared a last name already. He drew animals really well and I drew people really well. We would be an unstoppable force in the art world. (Have I always been such a romantic? 🙄)

What do you consider a Top Tier Compliment? How do the change between what you like to hear from friends vs lovers? What makes it mean more? Is there something that you hate being complimented on?

I think top tier is when it comes to you second hand. When you hear that someone complimented you when you weren’t present.

In a relationship, the best compliment is a smile, a squeeze of the hand, a head comfortably buried in my chest. Trust. Non-verbal compliments.

I usually don’t like compliments. They are awkward and awful. Plus, I already know I’m great, so why do I need to hear it from them? 😎

Gah compliments make me feel itchy which is weird because I love praise 🤭

I like when people are just unfiltered and honest and if they say something without it feeling forced. Or like @hotwords229_A said - a second hand compliment out of the blue can mean the world to me.

I don't easily accept them but I'm trying to stop arguing with anyone kind enough to give them and just say thank you.

From a romantic partner I guess anything that shows I'm thought of or that they recognise any effort I've put in.

My least favourite thing to get complimented on is my appearance because I'm too full of self doubt to believe it. I'd prefer it if someone told me they liked a thing I said or did more.

A compliment that I can believe.
How do the change between what you like to hear from friends vs lovers?
I think theres a lot of overlap there but I'm just maybe a bit needier with people I'm sexually or romantically interested in.

What makes it mean more?
When it's about something I care about, worked on, or think is an important part of who I am. And again, when I really believe the person saying it really means it.

All things. 😂 Honestly I'd rather be shown what someone thinks of me than to be told.

Top tier compliments are ones that indicate a person really sees me and the effort I put in. I like to hear the same things from friends and lovers in terms of compliments. Something real and genuine specific to me and genuine. I don't think I hate being complimented on anything-i love hearing nice things about myself 🤣 but focusing on looks/physical attributes only is yucky and if I get a generic or insincere compliment and I totally check out.

Please don't compliment me on my appearance. I know what I look like.

Best compliments I've ever received from friends and acquaintances: I've been told I'm genuinely kind. That I listen well. That I put people at ease. A few months ago two of the teachers in middle school were talking about the "If you were lost in the forest, would you rather come across a man or a bear?" One of them said, "I'll take the bear... unless the man is Mr. [my name]. He'll get me home okay." Which is the absolute best compliment - except that it's absolutely horseshit. No, I'm not going to deliberately harm her, but if she's lost in the woods and I'm out there too, then it means I'm even more lost than she is. We'll die together, but our honor will be intact.

Best compliment I've received from a lover - an ex-girlfriend the first time I went down on her: "Holy shit... a man who knows what he's doing!" followed by lots of happy gasps, groans, and whimpers.

Top Tier compliments are the ones you feel in your heart rather than hear with your ears and head.

Umm, my friends won’t ever compliment me on my looks or my sexual prowess. But I’d sure hope my lover mentions something about those things at some point. 🤦
What makes it mean more?
The ones we love have the most power to build us up and tear us down. So it should mean a whole lot more coming from them as long as it’s genuine.

Like a lot of others, I’m not great at taking a compliment to begin with. Definitely trying to graciously accept it and then quickly change the subject. 😆

Top tier? Something personal, which would vary from situation to situation. The only real difference from friends and lovers is that the scope of the latter potentially moves into the extremely personal, but certainly doesn't have to.

I got a compliment in public the other day from a former colleague, about my abilities at work. That meant a lot because it was both personal and genuine.

What do I hate being complimented on? Not much. Bluntly, I'm a guy so compliments don't come along that often, and I appreciate the place of good intention they do come from when I receive them.

One million percent, the most top tier compliments are the ones that come second or third hand. It's a crime that drama and gossip always seen to spread faster than respect and admiration.

For me, the best compliments lie in their specificity. Not "you're really funny" but "the way you phrased that joke makes me laugh everything I see a lemon". Not "you're very pretty" but "your thighs make me giddy". I like a compliment that feels natural and like someone is seeing me and seeing the things about me that I like about me. I also like when you know someone can't say what they want to say and phrase a compliment in a very respectful, overly polite way. I know that's weirdly specific but idk, it's nice when people are nice. 💚

Also I hate compliments and will refuse to accept a single one. This question is dumb. Whoever asked it needs a smack. 🙄

I absolutely cannot accept a compliment to save my life, but I love to give them and do my best to be specific when I do.

And give me a woman with a praise kink and I will indulge the hell out of that. ☺️

Welcome to Official Spooky Season!!

I want to know what weird, witchy or fantastical thing do you believe in that maybe others don't. No judgement here. Are you a zodiac expert? Do tarot readings or see specters out the corner of your eye? Have you ever tried your hand at cursing someone? Are you waiting in line to be beamed up and properly probed?

I once lived in a haunted house and had to borrow money for an exorcism. They said if I didn't pay it back on time I'd be repossessed. 😉

I believe in being skeptical, but with an open mind.

For me, it’s all on the table—UFOs, Loch Ness*, ghosts, etc. but just because I want to believe in them doesn’t mean I will until I get some real evidence (real evidence meaning I see it). 😁

The one thing I can’t wrap my head around is the Patterson Bigfoot. The more I’ve looked into that one, the more I can’t see how it was faked. On the other hand, I’ve wanted Bigfoot to be my friend since I was a kid, so I am biased.

*Not the monster. I don’t believe Scotland is real.

I mean... I'm a Christian. Does that count?
Come to communion and join me in drinking the blood of our undead God.

All of these things absolutely fascinate me. I’m always curious as to why so many cultures from all ends of the world for ages have similar creatures and different ways to tell to future. To find the answers in the stars. To explain what goes bump in the night or makes noise in darkness. I enjoy reading books about haunted houses and mystery’s that have spanned generations. I thinks witches, ghosts, goblins, vampires, werewolves, and etc (sorry if I left anyone out trying to be inclusive 😂) are interesting. With that said do I believe or have any rituals…hmm no rituals but there is a part of me that thinks maybe there is truth to some of it.

Great question and I hope there are a lot of answers. I’m nosey about this too.
Thanks @PrettyLilPussy19

I believe in... hmm. I don't think it's impossible that there are things outside our present perception. Could I be more specific? Not really. I also could believe all that stuff could be what our brains trick us into believing - there's a long history of them being like that!

I do think it's possible to pick up vibes from people, or events, that we perhaps have no physical or line-of-sight (or electronic) contact with. Doesn't mean we know how to interpret them, good lord, but getting a feeling... I've had that too many times to discount it. But again, I'm an anxious person so maybe I just have anxiety and then it sometimes overlaps with actual negative events and so I interpret a pattern where there is none. Human brains, so strange.

I don’t know the I actively BELIEVE in much. But I do think it’s ridiculous to think we’re even close to understanding all that as going on in our world alone let alone the entire universe.

I don’t think astrology and tarot actually control anything but I think they do provide helpful frameworks in which to consider your own life and actions.

I have personally experienced things that I don’t believe are ghosts but I’m not sure what they’d be otherwise.

And I absolutely do not wish to live in a universe completely controlled by physical laws. I like to leave room for the possibility of magic.
