Okay, so I woke up to a message from Sassy with a selfie attached. She's looking a lot better than I thought she would right now. I don't think she'll mind me telling you she has a nasogastric tube in which will be unpleasant for her to say the least.

Mr. Sassy mentioned that the surgeon did come round briefly after the operation and had a chat with him but will be coming round today to speak with her.

Hopefully she can get plenty of rest and build some strength. I will pass on everyone's well wishes and I'm sure she'll try and get on here as soon as she feels able to.

Thanks for the update. I was thinking about her for the last day. Surgery of any kind sucks. The drugs, the throat tube, the healing. Especially for people who go go go all the time.

If you talk to her, tell her I’m sending her a hug.

I got a very early morning message from Sassy. In her own words, she's tired, groggy and sore. All to be expected after everything that has gone on. We managed to message for a few minutes before she had to close her eyes again.

Her surgeon has been to see her. They're waiting to see if the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes but they won't know for about a week or so.

I told her everyone is rooting for her. I thought I'd share the update with you.

Grrr. Fuck Cancer.

Okay. It's been a rough couple of days. Sassy has asked me to post an update here.

I wish the news was better. First, the part of the surgery to remove the head of the pancreas was successful. That was where the tumour was. However, the surgeon found more cancer round the arteries underneath the pancreas and although they tried, they deemed it too dangerous to remove in the end.
It isn't curable but they can give treatment to extend her time.

For now it is a waiting game to see if the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes - that could take a week. Obviously, here's hoping it hasn't.

She'll probably be in hospital for another couple of weeks.

The current plan is chemotherapy and radiation for six months.

On a positive note, she is kicking the arse out of the physio side of things. Able to get up for very short periods and walk but she's extremely tired after short bursts and is resting a lot.
