2. You’re comin’ to Florida, dammit, and I won’t hear otherwise. Screw radiation, just come down here in a thong bikini and stand outside at noon for a half hour. It’s roughly equivalent.

4. If WA doesn’t give you the good drugs, FL knows how to party. We ride dirty.

Okay. It's been a rough couple of days. Sassy has asked me to post an update here.

I wish the news was better. First, the part of the surgery to remove the head of the pancreas was successful. That was where the tumour was. However, the surgeon found more cancer round the arteries underneath the pancreas and although they tried, they deemed it too dangerous to remove in the end.
It isn't curable but they can give treatment to extend her time.

For now it is a waiting game to see if the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes - that could take a week. Obviously, here's hoping it hasn't.

She'll probably be in hospital for another couple of weeks.

The current plan is chemotherapy and radiation for six months.

No, not what we wanted to hear, but surely all is not lost. We need to focus on the positive: they managed to cut out the big tumor. Sassy is alive. Heck, she is up and walking around, ok so for only a few steps at a time but how would we feel after a ten hour surgery, imagine the stress that was put on her whole body. I mean, I feel like I want a nap after a single hour of housework, ya know?? So.

Those other nasty bits of cancer they found, well.. They can do amazing things with chemo and radiation. No, it won’t ever go away and Sassy won’t live to be 100. But maybe they can give her a few more years. And knowing that time is limited hopefully she and her family can make every day count.

I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for ya, Sassy. And look at Trekka’s post, you still have so much living to do. It ain’t over till it’s over.

Sassy is doing better - she's no longer typing like she's overdosed on LSD but is obviously still super tired. She's had plenty of visitors that have left her even more so.

Apart from a swollen arm where all the blood is being taken - she is doing well. Her dressings have been removed for now. She's still got an epidural in and has been walking some more around the ward today with the sadists (my name for physiotherapists ) returning for more later.
