Could the radiation/scarring in your GI tract also be the reason you're not gaining weight?

Well unfortunately the Pet Scan didn't give me any conclusive answers. They can see the two spots on my lung, but they don't know if they're too small to biopsy. My doctor is going to send all of the information on to the radiologist to see if he thinks that he could reach the spots to biopsy.

They called just a little bit ago Set up an ultrasound for me Which Basically give them a better idea if they can biopsy it . So that appointment is scheduled for March 3rd.

We were also kind of hoping that the Pet Scan would give us a better idea of the cause of all my pain. But it did not. He finally said that he believes it's GI related and it's possible that their scar tissue that is slowing things down which is what's causing the pain. He said that it could be either from the surgery or from radiation.

I was a little angry because I've been saying that I believed it was GI related for months now.

So I guess I'm kind of in limbo until I go through these next steps and see what their plan is.

He is still concerned that I'm having such a hard time gaining weight. But he has reminded me that I am young and he would still kind of like to treat me aggressively. But only if I can handle it. Between the pain and whatever toll this could take on my body. That will also be a determining factor for what comes next

It was definitely nice to hear that he's not giving up and he kept reminding me that if there's anything I needed all to reach out to him that he will be there for me.

Possibly. There's so much scar tissue in there. I had started scar tissue massage. But I became worried about too much pressure on my body. You can literally see all my bones.

There has to be something you can do for the scar tissue pain and I’m sure someone who has been through this already can cut to the chase and give you the answer.

These doctors aren’t moving fast enough.

You have to be your own strongest advocate. We solve this scar pain, get some cheeseburgers in you, nuke these spots and Kapow, you’re back in business. This can be done.

I am in several cancer support groups on Facebook. I talk to a therapist usually weekly.
There are some support options at the hospital. But I'm not really driving myself around much.
If I want to go back to the scar tissue massage. I can. I'm just not thrilled with $80 a session. On top of all the other medical costs. It's a lot.
Trust me. I do like to be loud about my care. My son in law came to one of my appointments and got even louder. It was sweet.
One of my palliative care nurses has been helping me a lot. She'll call and make noise too. But yes. It's taking too long.

I got to drive my car today. I've been spoiled so much with my daughter or husband taking me to all my appointments, I started to wonder if I could still drive myself around safely. It was amazing and freeing.
I'm getting a cold right before Wonky gets Verte. Hopefully I don't send him home with it.

I got to drive my car today. I've been spoiled so much with my daughter or husband taking me to all my appointments, I started to wonder if I could still drive myself around safely. It was amazing and freeing.

Well on Monday they decided to try me on methadone. While it's normally too come off opioids, it is also used for pain and many also gain weight on this med.

Today I don't feel so bad. I'm in a tolerable pain state. I'm really hopeful like usual anytime I try something new.

@AWonkyDonkey and I are having hilarious take turns for who's in more pain. I'll get up when I feel okay. Do you need a drink? Or the heating pad. Or he will get up and see what I need.

It's so nice to be able to sit here and talk with someone who understands chronic pain.

I'm really pleased you're getting some relief from the pain. I hope it continues to work for you. Great, too, that you've got someone there who understands what it's all about. Not that I wish AWD pain - I don't know him, after all - just... oh, you both know what I mean. Stupid words.
