🎡 Monthly Song Challenge 🎡

day 9 - A song that mentions or is about a murder
I wasn’t gonna do this but then someone did Pumped Up Kicks, so here it is

Remember when this song was a fun parody of the 1960's style teenage death song combined with the 80s teen movies? And it was ridiculous to think of, and no one took it seriously? I miss those days.

Day 7: A song that was a #1 hit

Slade hit number one with this beaut in December 1972 until mid January 1973. Believe it or not it was their sixth and final number one single.

They’re huge in England. But crickets in the US. And my favorite Christmas song.

Day 8: A song that mentions or is about an historic event

I always liked The Unseen. But they were always overshadowed by other Boston street punk bands.

Abt the pretext for gulf war two. Which turned out to be horseshit as we all found out the hard way.

Day 8: A song that mentions or is about an historic event

Yayyy! This one's for @Wonderer67, finally I can break out my post-black viking metal 😬 Did a search and saw that @curious_slut likes them as well though πŸ₯°

Heilung is a unique band, to say the least. Hailing from Denmark, their lyrics are a blend of icelandic, old norse, proto germanic, old and new english... Their music is definitely a mood. To see them live is an experience one never forgets.

I wouldn't recommend listening to this just as you wake up - save it for tonight. It's not heavy, it's not grating; it's lovely, but it's also strange, weird, and requires a certain frame of mind...

Heilung - Krigsgaldr (Battlemage, or Shieldbreaker, or Warpoet, translation is a bit iffy)
The song's about the Viking invasions.

Just catching up. Thanks for this. Totally badass!

Day 9: A song that mentions or is about a murder
The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia-Vicki Lawrence
This was on my three-song list, and almost won, but I wanted to try to be upbeat. This is such a great song, and one I have loved since hearing it as a kid (I was too young to understand it, but I knew it was dangerous). I love the Southern Gothic feel and the use of the Dorian, minor scale, which just feels dark, and claustrophobic. Just a fantastic song.

Thank you!
