Day 3: A song that's under 2 minutes long

Before spinal tap, there was the Ruttles, a band that parodied the Beatles. This is a mashup of “if I fell” and “Michelle” I think.

The clip is 2:09 but the song is 1:54.

That’s Eric Idle (doing his best McCartney imitation) and Neil Innes from Monty Python.

The Ruttles - A Girl Like You
They came out of a Idles and Innes' 70s comedy series Rutland Weekend Television. I didn't really like it (probably a bit young for it) but the band were great fun.
I remember reading that George Harrison was a big fan, as he was of Monty Python

I remember seeing it and wondering what was going on. I was a little kid and totally didn’t get it - I did understand that it was a parody of the Beatles, but that’s about it.

The Ruttles album, is actually a brilliant album and the songs are wonderfully done. Highly recommend if you like the Beatles. (And who doesn’t?)

legends in their own lunchtime and ripped off by a certain manchester band (they had to credit Innes on one of their songs after legal action). It's the trousers, you know.

Day 3: A song that's under 2 minutes long

This song gets sooo stuck in my head. He first posted the chorus on TikTok and then, when he released the song and it was just under 2min long, people were asking for more of it. He responded that the abrupt cut off at the end was intentional since the song is about his struggle with anxiety and adhd and not being able to stick with something. Relatable.

So if I'm honest, I think I'm beginning to question how much I want this
Overloaded serial stresser, I'm sitting nauseous
Panic on a loop in my head, I'm chronically cautious
How can I get off this?

To keep it simple, I think I've been willingly following every impulse
Picturing a future, then tossing it out the window
Suffocate the fire I started right when it kindles
Passionate but fickle

Braden Bales - Chronically Cautious

This is my number 1 listened to artist for 3 years in a row. I have also been to a couple of concerts and own merch.

I am a man of distinguished tastes.
That is a new one for me. I'm not sure it would make a regular playlist, but it absolutely hits a mood. Thank you!

“I’ve never heard this before; I love it!”
Okay, let's see if I can't get the first part down at least ☺️

Jeepstarr is a reggae/dancehall singer, with a pretty diverse background! He's Swedish, yes, but he spent many years growing up in Africa, especially in Zimbabwe, Kenya and Zambia. He infuses his experiences into every song he releases, and it's just unlike anything I've heard 💕

Day 1: A song to set the tone for the new year
Because I love this record, obviously, but also because this lyric here, especially, resonates with me as I move forward in time.

The friends you had will have a kid and never be seen
Your job is never good enough, or cool enough
There's never passion in a deadly routine
Secretly I say it, yeah, I admit it
I kinda think that I just did the same thing

For most of us, as we get older, the person we wanted to be and the person we turned out to be move further and further apart, and the way we reconcile those things have a lot to do with how happy or unhappy we end up being.
