🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

This is not work out related but similar. There is nothing worse, and later in the week, nothing better than meal prepping work lunches. I dred this so much on Sunday nights but am so thankful later in the week.

Isn't that the truth! I need to be better about meal prepping because come mid week I hate myself for not doing it. 😆

What are some of your go to meals?

Same, I spend Sunday afternoon cooking and can largely relax the rest of the week because of it
Ooh good questions!

I have some go to lunches that I make ahead of time so I can grab and go in the mornings.

1. Tabouli salad. I buy the box with the uncooked bulgur and spices and then I’ll add cucumbers, tomatoes, chick peas, feta, carrots, onion…whatever I have that seems like it might be good. I make little Tupperware to go boxes and stack them in the fridge so I can just grab and go. Super easy, filling, and healthy.

2. Spinach and strawberry salad with mandarin oranges and candied pecans and feta. I put baby spinach, strawberries, candied pecans, and either goat or feta in to go bowls. Then I’ll bring single serving cups of mandarin oranges to add later bc it will get soggy if you add it too soon. Then bring a raspberry vinaigrette. That sounds more complicated than it is. You just have to remember to shop for ingredients. The rest is easy. (Granted this was one week in the beginning of the school year. Let’s see if I do it again).

3. Turkey wrap with hummus. Deli turkey, one tortilla, lettuce and snack size serving of hummus. Make a wrap by spreading the hummus on the tortilla, adding the lettuce and tomato or cucumber and then turkey, roll it up and enjoy! So good. And healthy.

4. Sometimes I’ll just take apple and banana and some peanut butter

I’m curious to hear other people’s lunches

Snacks: cheese sticks, yogurt and granola, fruit

Went on vacation last week and didn't work out even tho the ship had 3 different gyms! But back at it. Even managed 2 workouts today. I'm still in the building stage but it's frustrating as I am keeping my tummy.

For most people belly fat tends to be the last to go. Look at overall body composition, and you’ll see the changes, slowly but surely.

Yep. The muscle build is coming. And I'm doing better on my diet (food choices). Lots and lots of protein, no refined sugar, no grains. Once I get the mass I will focus on definition.

I have a hard time mixing up cardio and strength training during the warmer months when it's easier to be outside working on endurance. Once the cooler weather hits, I get back into a good mix week in and week out but I struggle(or flat out stop) strength training in the summer. It's been 6 months since I did any strength training. Maybe it's because I actually have endurance events I sign up for during the warmer months. Once this half marathon is over, I plan to concentrate on getting back to the mixed workouts.

Anyone else struggle with this? Any ideas or suggestions?

I struggle with cardio and strength training during warmer months too because I want to be outside. I've tried making myself do it and I hate it because I'd rather be outside so I've come to accept that I can focus on those things when it cools down. Sorry, I have no advice, but I understand!

I did a core workout this evening and I'm looking at a few links to start meal prepping.

At least I'm not alone in my struggles.

I just make myself go to the gym, do my strength and cardio indoors in the summer. It’s way too hot on the Gulf to be able to safely do cardio except at the very early morning or late evenings.

It's similar here in the Midwest. It's a good thing there is no greater feeling than watching the sunrise while I'm out on my bike. IMO

I struggle with the gym because I don’t lose myself in that in the same way as something like basketball or hiking. Love summer but the coolness of fall will definitely have its upsides
I resonate with this. I've never been to a gym living in the woods but I go through fits of working out at home. Always hard to stay dedicated to it cus I find it boring. But going into natural settings and climbing mountain or kayaking is invigorating and purposeful. Especially if you get into dangerous situations where you have to perform. Something general humanity has lost. Thrill of adventure is healthy and culls the flock. Or used to.

Yesterday was my first night back to derby since last Tuesday. It was a fun night. We learned how to give and receive whips , hip assists, which is like a whip, but instead of grabbing their arm, you grab their hips and pull yourself around and forward, boundary jumps, where you jump and turn 90 degrees and land on your toe stops, and we practiced weaving in lines, and backwards weaving in lines. It was long and tiring, and so much fun! 🛼🛼

Rock on SS!

My gym invested in new equipment and I just had a killer back workout. Colling down now with this: https://ibb.co/VBwMY12

Peanut butter, but butter, generous helping of kale, 2 scoops of vanilla protein powder, Chia seeds, hemp seeds, banana, milk, lots of ice. 50+ grams of protein in that.

I was up before the sun, got 10 miles in this morning but averaged just under 15 minutes a mile. I walked a LOT. I just wasn’t feeling it today, but it got done. Happy tomorrow isn’t a running day and maybe I’ll try to get motivated again with a baby run on Monday 🫠

I love hearing about everyone doing hard things and not quitting! That’s so awesome. Feeds my fire as well. Doing hard things and not quitting makes us stronger. Physically and mentally. Doing things we don’t want to do. Showing up and doing it anyways because we have a goal, a dream, a hope. Keep up the great work people. 💪🏻🙌🏼

10 miles is no joke, no matter how you got it done. Be proud of that work... and enjoy rest day! 🙌

I did an hour long inversion Pilates class today.

(Basically most of it was upside down work)

It totally kicked my ass and I feel so crushed. I’ve been working up to it for years (!!!) and it was so much harder than anything I’ve done.

Not going to give up but I really want to. 😓😩🫠
I’ve not tried it, is it a lot of handstands and bridges etc?
