🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

So.. the winter seems to have forgotten us in Scandinavia. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lately I have thrown my love and dedication on barre training and running (plus PT exercises).

Usually between 30-40 minutes barre daily, and yesterday I ran 7 km after barre.
(Running is three times a week)

My body is liking this different workout quite a lot.

I feel a bit more grounded, but still.. taking it slower? ... Maybe tomorrow.. next week!! I am going to slow down next week.. maybe..

- Did my new barre routine, and gosh - It makes me feel good!!
- Then PT, with running assessment and a check-up.. I am still somewhat weaker in my right side (needs more focus!)
- Talked about shoes and running socks..

Okay, this is something that reeeeeeaaally bugs me.
- I have a really narrow foot, and.. Egyptian I think it is called 🤷🏼‍♀️ you know.. The foot that looks like it is made for stilettoes.. Something I never wear though.


All that is good and stuff. BUT!! When buying socks, even running socks:
I always end up with a lot of excess sock fabric around my toes.. 😳 bloody annoying! 🙈
My PT laughed, cause.. I do actually have really small feet.
The solution... Toe socks for running!

Yes! I love barre! I always walk away from a barre workout feeling happy. 🥰

I don't have small feet but am particular about my socks. I really like Bomba socks, especially the ones that are quarter way to the calf, like these. I have a few pairs that I rotate through while skating and love them! They are snug but comfortable, and breathable. I get it that you're particular about your socks! The last thing you want is a sock lump in your shoe while running or working out lol.

The last thing you want is a sock lump in your shoe while running or working out lol.

Yes!! That bloody sock lump in the shoes.. - it drives me insane, as it takes unnecessary attention. (And the fact that it gives me cranker sores, if I do not sit down and rearrange the socks when it gets too annoying.)

Barre.. why have I not tried it before?! You are absolutely right, my mood is always really, really good when the workout is done. 🥰

Socks- I hate the bunching around my toes too. Just normally in my everyday socks. That’s a pet peeve of mine.
The running store near me carries Elite Ultra Lite socks by Feetures that I like. I have not tried a lot of different kinds of socks. I just grabbed those because they were there when I was buying my shoes and I like them. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Looks like I am going to buy several different socks.. And see what I like.
- but for once, I might actually need to visit a store in person, and talk with the people working there.
We have a store specialised in running near where I live, they only hire PT's.
That might be a good place to start. 😅🧦

It is not that I have not bought specific running socks before.. I have! But.. My feet are just.. well, narrow and tapered at the toes.

This could actually be a fun and good thing! Sock testing. 😉

I am very well aware, that this is a pretty specific and weird question.
I recently went to a physiotherapist and got my feel checked up and had them 3d scanned and my walk analyzed. I knew I had sunken forefeet, which was the physiotherapist confirmed, and I also have flat feet. So I got some exercises to strengthen my feet, and I also had some special inlays made for my shoes, that will support them. It's good for my feet to have them when I walk around 20.000 steps when I'm at work.

As for socks, I've found out that a brand of thick wool socks are nice for me both summer and winter. I do have normal size feet, so I don't have a problem finding socks that fits me :)

+1 for Bombas! I have really high arches and they’re the only sock I’ve tried that actually hugs all of my foot without loose material around the bottom or twisting around my foot. I also love that they have a lot of different heights and specialty versions. Thinner ones for tighter shoes, skiing for really cold winter sports, grippy ones for around the house on cold floors, cashmere for cozy reading by the fire, no show for flats, etc.

Plus I adore a bit of whimsy and giggle when I see penguins, Minions, or Monsters Inc. on my feet 😍

I had a pair of their slippers until my one year old puppy decided to eat them a few days ago lol. 🥺 I also love that when you buy a pair they donate a pair. 🤗

I’m glad I’m not the only one having this conversation with others. My favorite socks are what we call Stadium Socks. They’re ones I’ve bought in team stores at sports venues. I don’t even have to be a fan of the team but I’ll grab the slightly overpriced socks.

It’s a Goldilocks moment with the thickness, compression and support being just right.

Actually I’m doing pretty well. My Sunday was was full of family and football, and while I did not like the outcome of either game, it was still a fun day.

Now back to the grind… hope all is well and you had a good weekend. I did get out for my morning walks in the cold weather so I count that as a win. I just want to keep my habit going and will build on it once the weather warms a tad. I’m just not suited for below freezing weather temps.

I am very well aware, that this is a pretty specific and weird question.
I am kind of a nut about socks and shoes. And although I do not buy a lot I do like high quality. For fitness have had good luck with New Balance. For work and hiking I am a big fan of Smartwool, Bombas and Darn Tough.
 
.... Okay, so every Sunday check-up might be a bit.. Uhm.. Too much commitment (commitment issues.. Nopes.. at least not towards myself 🙈).

But, once in a while..a bit regularly? - Yup!!

Right now? I am back in my forest, just finished a lovely barre class, and gosh! I feel good! 🤩🌲🌳

It is so silly, but really.. this place makes me smile so giddy and feeling so chirpy! 😆

My socks slide, too. Narrow, feet with a highish arch. Only mine are more narrow at the heels! 😂

I wear toe socks for running. They stay on great. Injinji is a relatively easy to find brand.

I meant to do Sunday checkins, but went down sick for a week which has totally derailed my exercise situation. 😬

Does anyone have a recommendation for a green supplement without stevia, by chance?

@sallysparrow23 hooked me up with Earth Chimp, which has been amazing. I'm hoping for similar luck with the green.

(I've converted half the people I know to Earth Chimp. 😂)

I don’t know much about green supplements. What do you like about them? When do you have them? When did you start adding them to your diet and what did you notice once you did? Are they a meal replacement?
