🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

God Bless your young knees that can handle that hopping!! 😘🦿
... I am not that young... 🤫 I am just lucky, good genes and taking generally good care of my body.
In the Winter when I can't swim, I resort to stationary bike and step treadmill for my Cardio. My knees bark at me the next day if I try anything too high impact.

Yeah.. I have had periods with nagging knees and almost chronic shin splints 😳
I had to give up running on asphalt, that was always a sure way for me to be limping for a week.. or more.

But, I removed the running on asphalt, bought some better shoes, learnt that compression clothing was my best friend, kinesio taped the life out of my knees... adjusted my diet.. well.. I am not on a diet 😅 but, removed the things that was bad for me.
Sauna, stretching.. hot bottles in the bed at night.
Got a trainer, one that was able to help me get over the problem.

It was not easy!! Gosh.. it took a couple of years. And I know, I have been extremely dedicated...But... Now I am doing the speep rope.
Yet, you will never see me running in the city again.

HaHa!! I can remember being your age and being able to go all day on the ball field and wake up the next morning ready to do it all over again. Getting really good shoes is so important. I'm still working on the stretching part. My Chiropractor is always fussing about me needing to do yoga more often.

Running is so rough on the knees. I've tried to enjoy it but it hurts too much for me. Good for your on all of those changes!! It's so much hard work. It's taken me years to be where I'm at and I'm not where near where I want to aspire too. I keep reminding myself to enjoy, and trust the process. Great job!

Running is crazy hard on the knees, and ankles! Actually.. The whole skeletal system.
My lower back is definitely not always agreeing with me 🍀

So, I had to realise that if I wanted to keep staying fit and working out, I had to kill a darling, no more running in the city.

Instead: way more yoga, well coordinated strength training and weight lifting. Absurdly much focus on the small stabilisation muscles.. those small pesky and nerdy ones.
And different kinds of cardio exercises.. the Stairmaster (😳) rowing, skiing.. running in the forest is ok'ish.

It has not been easy, it is still not easy.. I am not where I want to be - but I am on my way!!
I am even talking to people in my gym.. (normally I prefer not to talk)

Also, we are not getting younger! The kids are getting bigger and older.. Wanting to do more challenging vacations (we are going skiing with them for the first time in next vacation)

Also.. your workout room with mirrors 🤩🤩🤩 that sounds soooo good!!

We got this❤️✨🍀

Uhh, couch potato checking in! 👋😌

I walked part of our local bike path today, about four miles in total. It's downhill going out and very pleasant, but the leg nearest my house is the steepest part and a bear on the way back up. 😩 I didn't make any stops on the way down, but stopped at every bench (4) and both drinking fountains coming back. Took me 30 minutes to walk the first half and 45 to come home, going slower and making stops.

I'm off for ten more days before school resumes, my goal is to make the walk every day and... that's it! Form the habit, and then I'll worry about speed, etc. My little walking mantra today:

L o n g... S t r i d e s...
Swing. Your. Arms.
L o n g... S t r i d e s...
Work! Those! Glutes!

😄

Today's workout bonus #1:
Met a gorgeous, fluffy doggo! A Great Pyrenees named Mack who was already headed over to me for pets before I could finish asking his owner for permission to approach. She said I'd made his day, and it was totally worth all the white fur on my black leggings.

Workout bonus #2:
On the way home I passed a youngish father and his two grade school aged kids. Overheard his daughter say, 'Oooo, I'm gonna tell mommy you're looking at other girrrrls!' 💀💀💀

We have some sick people in the house today so I just lifted for a while on my own watching a movie. It was a decent routine. I’ll take it. Hopefully I can dodge whatever is floating around.

Oh and PS happy New Year all!

I can’t believe how much I’ve managed to work out since my last chemo. I am legit sore. I love it. Trying to get as much in as I can before radiation/surgery (whatever is next). I’m also trying not to worry about getting on the scale at my doctor. It took me YEARS to not give a shit what I weigh but weighing in all the time at the doctor has given me new anxiety around it. I went away and ate out a lot, holiday eating, etc - normally I wouldn’t care and would just adjust when I got home. But knowing I have to get on a scale a few times this week has brought back the old, ‘work out to try to work off that slice of pizza’ behavior which is horribly unhealthy. I don’t know how to balance cancer survivorship with a history of distorted eating. It’s a really hard balance. But I am glad I am surrounded by support at the places I work out - I got to see friends again and hug them after a spin ride. It’s been great.

The unseasonably warm weather pushed me outside yesterday for a 2 mile hike.

Happy New Year everyone! Here's to a strong, sweaty, and healthy 23!

My football team was playing poorly. So I took off with the dog for a hike. 3+ miles but the ice was horrible. It got much colder about 1/2 way and everything became an ice rink.

After about a month of not being able to exercise due to a weird back issue, and having lost a lot of strength, today I could carefully perform pushups and pullups again. That felt very, very good.

So I had an accident earlier this year and I couldn’t be on my ankle at all that required even small impact. It was terrrrrible. I lost all the muscle mass in my leg and ugh. Just all the bad. But I started working out again finally about a month ago and it’s been so nice. I hate the gym but I like feeling like me ❤️ anyway just relating and musing. I’m glad you’ve been able to exercise again.

Fuck I was sore - so today was mobility Monday. I still struggled to do a 100lb chest press but I managed it. Even when I’m injured or sore, I just work out other parts. But today, everything was sore. Thankful for a trainer that knows when I need more gentle movement. I really need a massage though!

Saw someone I hadnt seen in a while today and she told me I look like I lost a lot of weight. I normally hate those comments but I worry it’s loss of muscle not fat. Anyway, weight loss is embraced by society regardless of how it’s achieved and I’m not into that.

But I appreciate her thinking I look good given all I’m going though!

I've been on and off with excersize since last spring.
I'm making a real push now to do it regularly.
Been pretty good since the week prior to x-mass.
This may help. Thanks all!

Great workout today. Always feels good to get a workout in after being sick for a while. I’m back in business. 💪🏻

Elliptical and weights two days ago, followed by bike yesterday = walking like I just got off a horse until everything loosens up this morning. Feels good though.

I'm starting a 100 push-ups a day challenge tomorrow. I can't get anywhere near 100 right now but I'm going to work up to it over the year.
I'm not doing a challenge but I've been telling myself to just do 10 push-ups everyday. Trying to keep the routine, maybe one day I'll get to your level. 😁💪

I bike one day, weights the next.........go mainly for the shower.
