🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

What supplements do y’all take? Do you think they make a difference?
Here’s my list:
Multivitamin
Berberine
Saw Palmetto
Krill oil
Vitamin D (because this is Lit, so I feel it’s necessary to state that I give this as well 🤣)
Probiotics
Protein powder
Creatine
I honestly don’t know if most of them make a difference. Creatine does help me push a little farther during workouts, though.
I take an iron supplement because my iron is always low. I also take a kelp supplement for iodine to help with thyroid function, probiotic every few days, and a glucosamine supplement for joint health and function. I put collagen and protein powder in my smoothies. I feel better when I take them so I say they are making a difference for me.

I try and get most things from eating well, (also, I often forget to take supplements most of the time)
Having said that, half scoop of Protein powder and creatine mixed into my full fat yoghurt
And a glass of methylene blue daily, definitely helps my energy levels.
I shy away from low fat foods, I find if I eat high fat, Greek yoghurt, ribeye steaks etc, that I'm more satiated and eat less overall
Just need to find the health benefits of beer and I'd be a happy man 😃

Love this thread and have been following it for a while and have decided to post and track my journey.
I'm 58 and have always been hit and miss with training and exercise but have decided to enter a natural, drug tested, body building contest next year, just as a challenge to myself.
Might get brave and post a pic here soon, beer belly and all, just as motivation to myself 😃

Good morning Sweaters! Has anyone done Insanity through Beachbody? I used to subscribe to the streaming service but only used one program so cancelled it. I saw that you can get Insanity separately and they are slowly releasing their programs to purchase separately which is nice. Remember the days when we owned our workouts and didn't have to subscribe to everything? Lol. I watched a sample workout and it looks like a good sweat.

Welcome to the thread, and I’m excited about your journey with your body building contest. I have all sorts of questions. Please answer or ignore as many of these as you like. :)

What made you want to try a body building contest? Is this something you’ve tried in the past?
Where do you start? Do you know someone who will coach you? Is there an app for that?
What is your beginning workout like, and how often does it change?
Do you workout in a gym? At home?
How will diet play a part in your training? What is your plan calorie-wise? Protein? Other macros that you will track?

Ok this is ringing a bell and I’m trying to remember who it was that I know who used to do insanity workouts religiously.

I don’t know about you, but I’m realizing that my memory takes a while to warm up these days, so hopefully after my subconscious has a while to process this a bit, I will come up with the answer to this question and be able to give you more info later on. 🙄 What I do seem to remember is that they were truly dedicated to these workouts and they loved it. I feel like it was one of my friends who I tried to convince to come join the bootcamp workout with me, but they were loyal to their insanity workouts and didn’t want to stray from them.

Owning, running and maintaining a farm is a good way to stay fit. Especially in the summer.

My farm hand is built like a brick shit house, and yesterday we moved 45, 60 pound blocks into a stream to rip rap it. (Prevents streambank erosion)

Had 19,000 steps Saturday and about 17,000 yesterday.

I do have a day job, so my Monday work out is straight elliptical for an hour.

That's how I was with Barre Blend on BB but I've done it so many times now my body feels immune lol. Thanks! ☺️

About to do a body weight workout for the day. I’ve been slacking so I don’t have high expectations here but realize I won’t get more fit if I don’t do anything.
I need to do more weight training too. It’s easier for me to get a nice walk in, but taking the time to do strength training is something I struggle with and also something I really need to do.

It sure is hard to create a new habit.
It isn’t really. I just have to do it. But I haven’t yet.

Just did a lower body strength-conditioning program, now on to a bit of a dedicated core workout and finishing with some stretching.

It seems that my problem is the same as always.
My tendency to overtrain, therefore being hungry all the time.. and sleeping too little.

So, I am going to pace myself, holding back a bit. Only doing 2 days of strength training a week and 3 days of running.. a bit frustrating. 🙈😅
But!!! Allowing myself to do all of the stretching I want!! (Trying to tell myself that it is okay just to stretch 2 days a week..😵‍💫)

Do you use pictures of yourself to help with your workout goals?

@Biggalute mentioned using pictures/selfies as motivation for working out. Whether it’s so you can track progress, mark a starting point, or to take notice of how far you’ve come and how much progress you’ve made, does this help you?

Feel free to post a workout pic of yourself here any time you like!

Did any of you ever do the Billy Blanks boxercise videos? A good workout and a constant reminder of how uncoordinated I am 😆

All done for today.

Thanks for the accountability people! 👊

Hi, this has certainly got me thinking. I've never done a body building contest before but have always done weight training and enjoy the feeling of being strong and growing muscles.
I don't have a coach at this stage, but know enough about weights and my body to be getting on with it.
Diet is really the key. Firstly, to eat enough high quality calories as I'm a fairly big fella. It's a big industry with nearly too much information out there, but i find if i eat 3-4 good meals a day and avoid extra, unnecessary, sugars then my body responds ok, muscles growing and energy levels maintained.
Cutting body fat as a contest approaches will be more of a challenge and that's when I may seek professional help, particularly as I'm more of a trial and error guy rather than a calorie counter-which bores me.
I'm taking some pics and doing some measurements tomorrow, might be the kick up the ass I need to get going.
😃

Oh man, I forgot all about Insanity and Tae Bo! Good times. If you can stick with it, Insanity is a good workout. I got bored working out inside, but that’s just me.
