🧘🏼‍♂️🤾🏻‍♀️Getting Sweaty Again: The 3rd Circuit 🚴🏼‍♂️🏋🏼‍♀️

It works now. I'm enjoying it as I savor a fresh cup of coffee.

- Savouring the coffee, after your workout, right? 😉

🔥🔥 as always, @Cat

You set the bar high!! ❤️. Love it!!

Never a competition ❤️

Everybody is different and every body is different.

I need to be more mindful when it comes to stretching, if not.. - then hello lower back pain and tight hips! 😳

Just like, I need to scale down, exercising a bit more moderately, not eating myself constantly, and therefore having weird cravings, waking up suuuuuuuuper hungry in the middle of the night.

And here I am showing a lame, sweaty 😎 pic. 🤣
Doesn’t even compare.

Nothing lame about sweating pics!! Nothing lame at all!!

Thank you 😆

Does everyone not like stretching? I am a stretch fanatic. 🤷‍♀️

I sometimes.. you know.. there is just not enough time! 🫣
Of course I have the time, it is just that I tend to have a ton of bad excuses.

- This mostly happens when I have "forgotten" to do my stretching or yoga for a couple of days, why? Because running makes me soooooooo tight, and it such a pain to do the stretching after a break.

(You are a barefoot/minimalist runner, do you need some extra stretching, or does our different running style affect your muscles, ligaments and joints in a way that requires less stretching?
- I am a ASICS Kayano runner, moderately to a lot of over pronation. Still, I am a forefoot to middle foot striker, with an average cadence of 175.)

But!! When all that is said, I actually love stretching. It just needs to be done consistently. ❤️

This!^ Honestly, I feel like stretching is more important to my body than anything else I do. Plus, limber just feels good.

Well, there's no heel strike with minimalist running, so stretching is a little different I suppose. More calf stretching, and I stretch my feet. Which, sounds weird? 😂

Mostly that means bending my toes each way with my weight so it stretches all those recently active foot muscles and my arch. I stretch immediately after a run. Minimum fifteen minutes, but usually twice that. Keeps me from being tight.

ETA: Oh! And I'll just a tennis ball to stretch the bottom of the foot as well. Good stuff. 🕶️

Yes, yes and oh yes!!!!

My only problem is: but - when am I going to push it, feel that burn when you run or workout, you know.. the burn that suddenly stops, and you feel like flying and never wanting to stop.
That feeling is slightly addictive. 🙈

True! But, heel striking is so, so painful!! 😳 Even with shoes. Also, it is kinda obstructive to your run - it feels like stopping every time you land with your heel, instead of taking advantage of that forward moving energy, when landing on your forefoot/middle foot.

I had to change from being a distinct forefoot runner, to landing more on my middle foot, after I had the partial rupture of my Achilles tendon last year.

But stretching your feet.. 🤔 I want to look more into that!!

^Yup, this is something I am going to try after my next run (tomorrow). ❤️

As you said, being limper, flexible and in control of your body.. 🫠 it just feels so amazing!

I even do 10-15 minutes of stretching before my workouts, just to wake up the body and get everything prepped and ready. ❤️

Has anyone done Insanity through Beachbody?
Did any of you ever do the Billy Blanks boxercise videos?
It’s been years but I did both of these back in the day and enjoyed them. I’m sure I have DVDs floating around somewhere 😂

I need to do more weight training too. It’s easier for me to get a nice walk in, but taking the time to do strength training is something I struggle with and also something I really need to do.
I usually pick my favorite thing if I need to start something again that I’ve been procrastinating. For me for weights that’s arms or shoulders and circuit training. There’s something about just going from exercise to exercise quickly and efficiently that motivates me.

@Biggalute mentioned using pictures/selfies as motivation for working out. Whether it’s so you can track progress, mark a starting point, or to take notice of how far you’ve come and how much progress you’ve made, does this help you?
I’ve done 3D body scans with very precise read outs of everything. I did find it motivating as well as reassuring to see internally what changes I was also seeing externally.

@FunLi how’s the first week of running going? What’s working and what isn’t?
1. I politely cuss myself out for doing this before every run
2. My ADD and I struggle mid-run because my mind goes a million miles a minute with other things I need to do or critiquing my decisions in life
3. I really need to find a groove with my breathing
4. Trying to find my sweet spot with running early morning/later evening so it doesn’t feel like I’m in the midst of humid hell, but I may just have to go indoors until fall.

BUT - After the run, I have no regrets.

So, I guess you can say things are going well 😂

It is the most important thing you can do before and after a workout and yet it is so often ignored.

Questionable… I think the most recent science is that stretching doesn’t seem to have any real impact unless you’re in a high ROM sport, and in the case of static stretching, might increase the chance for injury.

I found the cardio video of Insanity on the deep dark web this afternoon and decided to give it a whirl. I can see why they call it Insanity. Holy sweat! 💦

I almost pulled the trigger on a Dexa scan recently. Maybe I should revisit that 🤔
Hmmm. This sounds interesting.

The link is not working for me. 🤷‍♀️

Lately I’ve been so lazy I don’t even have the energy to read about other people exercising!

I need to spend more time here. 🙂

What supplements do y’all take? Do you think they make a difference?
Vitamin D
Fish Oil
I have no idea if they work. I’m pretty sure the D does not because when I have a blood test the Dr. always tells me my Vitamin D is low. 🤷‍♂️
Do you use pictures of yourself to help with your workout goals?
I did this once when I got kind of beefy, but I deleted the pics because I really didn’t want to ever see them again! 😁
I use my clothes as a workout goal. When they get too tight, it’s time to stop screwing around and exercise.
