You can't go by what figure the "my stories" section says. For a recently started story of mine it says I have 14 threads, but I know there's only 7.

I was checking to see which pages had been voted for. It's interesting. I remember a discussion here where it was widely agreed that it was best to have characters built up, made real, given personality and flavour - before jumping straight into the sex. On the longest thread in Aaralon's discoveries, where such an attempt has been made, there've been no votes at all. No votes are better than low votes though. I think if these pages had been awful then they'd have been rated poorly. On the other hand, it seems that people are more likely to pause and register and expression when there's sex. There's also the fact that these pages are further into a complex, multi-threaded story and even with the map function are much harder to find.

I agree with you that the difference between what people say they want to read and what seems to get read is interesting. I think the difference has more to do with the people that comes to the boards who I think look for a story with a story in it, and the casual surfer just looking for a quick romp.

I find that when I am really engrossed in a story I forget to vote and then often don't get back to it. Maybe other people do the same and so the best threads don't get recognized like they should.

After two months of fallowness, I've adopted Aaralon's Discoveries. I've approved numerous threads that were pending.
