Artists of Erotica...

Thanks, Imp! I hit the finished drawing with magic marker, to make the blacks black, and got a cool effect, in my estimation, with the stripes on the kid's top. It suggests the wrinkles in the material, and it bespeaks jersey, I think. I do dig the way the straw hat came out, too.

I just signed up on an image server. It will doubtless increase my spam level, but I like being able to throw any old thing up with no regard to image size. Reducing the stuff always seems to degrade it. Just a beef I have.

I am looking for someone to illustrate a poem for me. I have the illustration in mind that I would like. I would like it drawn in white on black paper, showing a woman dressed in a nun's habbit kneeling in prayer in a dark room, light coming in under a door only cracked open, her face turned toward the viewer-- and she has fangs, like a vampire. Her habbit should not be overtly sexy, but should show a bit of form and not be completely shapeless.

Does anyone think they could do that? (ps- the pic would be to post, along with my poem.

(here's just a bit of it)

We are broken
Each a different fractured shard
Uniquely twisted in the forge of pain
Imperfect snowflakes
Beauty found in ugliness
A scar of hurt,
A glint of hope
Damaged
We have all come undone
None of us are whole, unmarred
Our sickness corrupts us
And eats us from within.

Cowering in the dark
We wrap ourselves in what we know
We will not come out
Despite the gentle voices beckoning
Because the light burns our eyes
Bringing only agony
And scorching our sight
A thing of beauty is a torment.
There is no solace for the damned.

I forgot, she should be fairly young (early 20's), pretty and otherwise innocent looking, but with a look of sadness or torment- maybe tears (or not)

If I didn't have visiting family occupying most of my time right now I'd be on this one like icing on a cake. If you don't get any takers by the time I have time back to myself again I'll see what I can do.

From what I've seen in this thread, you're style is perfect for what I imagined and would totally be worth waiting for.:)

I love the realism!

That one does have a very classical style and sense to it. It reminds me of the sketches from some of the old renaissance masters. It's really a very good piece. Very enjoyable.

Cantdog,

I love the way you made your shadows there.
Especially the legs are beautifully done.

Could be a sketch from one of the Dutch masters.

:D

What I like the most is the action. The lifting up on the toes as the top is being removed. I've seen this done many times and it never made any sense. Why would someone lift up on their toes when pulling a top off over their heads? I've always wanted to ask that, but I love seeing it.

Great job!

I think it's sheer physics. Throwing the arms forward rocks the body's weight forward, so a person has to press with the balls of the feet to set herself back again.

The legs, I'm afraid, were so finicky because I was having trouble with them, and needed to keep working. I'd have actually been happier if the legs had laid down nicely in the free, light scribbly style of the spine and shoulder blades.

I'll have to study movements. I move about on the balls of my feet, so I may quickly change direction without stumbling. I see some ladies doing the same in high heels.

I like the piece.

Funny how I never realized that I do that.. rocking up on the balls of my feet as I remove a t-shirt, until I read that. lol.

I don't know why.. I just know I do it.

I love the sketch. The legs are awesome.

Something like this? Bare in mind that colored pencils on black paper are a whole different effect than black pencils on white paper...

I don't know what Sweet has in mind of course, but I like the reversal of black and white.

You gave her a very stern face though.

I think the stern look you're seeing her has something to do with the resizing for the post. In the original she has more of a look of hopelessness or of being lost.

The colors on black has spawned a few other ideas that I think I'll have some fun with, but I'm noticing that my colored pencil collection is running low on some colors.

A shopping I will go ... A shopping I will go ...
