I'm more in love with the idea of being in love than actually "in love". I have these ideals that I aspire to, but seem to be quite happy trying to grab them with whomever crosses my path....

Been in a relationship for the last 3 and a half years, I was in love in the beginning, but now we seem to cohabit and occassionally fuck..... there's no shared interest and we rarely do things together. We have sex out of necessity, probably averaging about once a month. He has no interest in my fantasies, what turns me on, or differing the routine. To be honest, it is beginning to get boring and predictable. I tried to suggest introducing my desire for BDSM into the bedroom, but this floats his boat as much as the titanic made it to its final destination. I wouldn't say that I'm in love right now. Not really looking for it. I'm enjoying the solo single life right now and all the freedom that comes with it.

Does being in love make the sex better? Not necessarily. I think the benefit of being intimate with someone you're truly in love with is the emotional bonding the sex brings. Even if I'm in love, 100% truly in love, if my partner isn't as adventurous or open to new experiences or for whatever reason can not/will not satisfy me sexually, the sex for me may be emotionally satisfying, but that's it.


But really hot, passionate, crazy, memories are made of this sex isn't dependent on being in love with your partner. I've dated guys who became much more inhibited once I'd achieved girlfriend/fiance status.

I think the key to really great sex is being comfortable with yourself, feeling comfortable with your partner and surrendering to the experience without being hung up on whether a specific desire is too weird, kinky or not what the rest of the world is doing in their sex life.

But that's just my own $0.02.
