Weather has finally moved from winter to summer in the Rockies...

Got out for a day ride on Saturday... went south about 50 miles to pick up one of my Stugis colleagues to take a little ride through the foothills, past the Coors factory in Golden, and ended up in a little roadhouse that caters to bikers... wannabe and otherwise. Sat down had a few Odouls, cause drinking and driving in Colorado incurs the death penalty... we talked about our arrangements for the Classic this year... we're staying downtown four blocks off main street in Sturgis camping in somebody's front yard. This guy also organized a benefit for one of his friends who has pancreatic cancer and asked if I would play with a group of musicians he was putting together... turns out four of these people were in my band about four years ago, so it's kind of a reunion, and we discussed making a run out to Flaming Gorge Harley Davidson's Rally in Rock Springs WY the weekend of June 20 for the Poker run, the food, the entertainment and of course any bike action we can get and as a shake down for some of our biker friends who didn't go to Sturgis with us last year. Boy... they don't know what they're in for. They've never seen us in action. Rock Springs is a day out and a day back. It's starting out to be a good summer so far.

Thanks but I didn't mean it that way.....This is what I was told as a group consensus of many other experienced riders and dealers I have spoken to over the last year or so, considering my greeness. I am not taking offense to what you are saying. All I am saying is this is what the general thoughts were of other oeople and what would be an appropriate ride for me......

Christ, how did life get so dam busy...

It's the start of a great day here in the small New England town of Woodbury, CT. I have a lot of running around to do today. Things that can't be pushed a side...

However, tomorrow after work I definitely want to get over to my storage unit and take a look at the clutch cable.

I thought summer time was a time of relaxation...

Well, it depends, Harleygirl

I play guitar, banjo and mandolin and the only thing that pisses me off about biking is not being able to take an instrument along. We actually planned to trailer the bikes to Sturgis this year so we could load up my van and hit all the open mics in Sturgis and Rapid City... but at $4.00 a gallon for gas I don't think the van is going to be going this year. Jade... I hope you get you clutch repaired and in the wind soon... and if you got nothing to do, hit the road that'll always curl your face for you. The total gas cost of the trip I just did was between $250 and $300 which isn't bad for 3300 miles and in spite of all the problems, it was a great ride!

I miss it alot, and I mean alot. Was on a ride on a friends' Ultra Classic over a month ago, and nada since then. I almost have the DT's from going cold turkey.....thanks for wanting to give me my "ride fix!!"

Wow you play alot of instruments!! A talented guy for sure!! Yea I hear you, the price of fuel is killing everyone big time. Here in MA. I am paying $4.99 for diesel: the god-damned highway-robbers are killing me. Last week $120.OO, and there was still 1/4 a tank in her-I have a 2500 Series Gm 4X4.

Wel well well. Seems like forever since I posted here. Anyone miss me? Prolly not. I hadn't posted a lot here...then I had a wreck.

For some reason, I have very little recollection of the crash. Here's what I know:

I was stopped at a light, in the right half of the left lane next to one of my brothers, when a car came up in the right lane, timing the light (opposing light was yellow) so the guy was being slick, just slowed down and didn't stop. He was basically straddling the lane marker between the two lanes, took me out from behind. He never applied his brakes, and took my bike across the intersection of a four lane road, but not before knocking me sideways enough to hit the guy next to me. I was on my BMW K1200. I kinda think that had I been on my Valkyrie, would have been better off.

We both went down, but My Brother, (As in Motorcycle Club Brother) was not seriously injured. He sustained a broken thumb, wrist, and a pretty hefty assortment of bruises. His bike was heavily damaged. Mine is a total loss.

I ended up about halfway across the road, unconscious, and remained so until some time later, in the hospital, long after the first surgery. I remember seeing the guy in my mirror, saying something like "What the fu...??!!" and then it was morning, and there was all kinds of beeping and whirring, and someone was changing a bandage on my side. I had a concussion, some scrapes, gashes, and such, but my left side was pretty well caved in. 5 broken ribs, 4 of them broken in three or more places. They also did a subtotal splenectomy, which means they took out part, but not all of my spleen. I required four units of whole blood. I was awake for about fifteen minutes when they told me I was headed back to the surgical unit. The second surgery was to more or less set my ribs in place, and ensure that what was left of my spleen was not still bleeding.

The worst part was the infections that set in afterwards. For weeks I was battling a severe to moderate assortment of infections. I was hospitalized two more times. I am just now getting back to something resembling normal. Staph infections MRSA, and a couple of other nasty bugs kept slamming me down. My otherwise hearty constitution would mask the symptoms until the infections were pretty well advanced...and then life would basically suck. The Antibiotics they gave me were almost as bad as the bugs.

The police say the driver of the car refused a field sobriety test at the scene, and was arrested for DUI and given a breathalyser, which he failed with a Blood alcohol content of .24 . (.08 is legally drunk- .40 is basically comatose.) I was tox screened at the hospital, but aside from a little caffeine, nada. I don't drink and ride.

Of course, he's unlicensed, uninsured, and all the rest. Fortunately I am retired Military, and I have uninsured motorist coverage, and a ton of insurance, so I shouldn't be socked all that bad financially.

At any rate, I should be back to posting, and more importantly, riding within a week or two. Now, it's a matter of getting the ol' legs back into shape and not getting so tired so fast. I took the Valk Out for a short ride, and after a half hour in moderate suburban traffic I had to park her and have someone come get me, after about ten stoplights or so.

It's gonna be a super great day today. Yep, we are in great riding weather. I am going to try and take a look at the clutch on the Goldwing after work this after.

I have been busy trying to find another part time job. I had my hours cut from 30 hours a week down to 12 hours a week and that isn't going to work. Unfortunately there aren't many jobs out there... So I need to be careful cash wise.

Biker Bro I am so sorry to hear about the accident. I wish you a very speedy recovery. I hope there aren't any major problems later. This guy really should be hug by his balls...!

Dinny and Zotbiker I hear ya about the bike repairs but finding a new job has to be my first priority at the moment.

Zotbiker I'll go you one better. I kinda have a inside track on the fuel situation. Don't be surprised to see $6 to $7 bucks a gallon by the end of the year.

Yes Haze, it's was raining here too. Has stopped, so I too didn't have to water the garden, but I need to edge and weed. So after I get off-line I shall get out.

I hate being house-bound, I am outdoorsy and don't like being cooped up inside. I am off again today so am going to get out to get some fresh air and get to those chores.

Not a nice day for a bike ride. So, are you going to take me out on your Softail in the Adirondacks again??.....

Well, I just dragged my butt in from a rained out gig...

The band showed up at a place called the Terrace in Boulder, and the clown with the PA showed up just long enough to say the weather forecast called for rain, he had his girlfriends pick up truck and had to go get her in two minutes, and hadn't even brought any PA gear with him. So basically we filled the house with folks that will probably never come to see us play again. I was out earlier in the day on the bike and swam home. Rain, hail, lightening, thunder... tornado warnings and watches... Jeez, the man upstairs did not want us to play. Still organizing our local group for the Flaming Gorge run to Wyoming on the 20th... right now looks like at least three riders and a guest. Got my rain and tornado gear ready!

Harlygrrl, i don't blame the idiot with the PA, he was the house idiot fortunately and not affiliated with us... unfortunately, we brought a lot of folks out in bad weather to spend money in the joint, and the b***h that ran the place let him blow it off. So she got paid for drinks and food by our following and they didn't get to hear us, that pisses me off more than the PA idiot, who was after all just an... idiot.

Hey, the Flaming Gorge Rally is an annual event... three days, a poker run, a bike rodeo, band's food, and of course Rocky Mountain Bikers. It ain't the rain that bother's us... we're all above 5,000 feet here... it's them mid-summer snow storms that really dampen our spirits. We really are, after all, just a bunch of cowboys on our iron horses out here... ridin' in the wide open spaces... between the trucks.

Good afternoon, girls and boys...

Looks like it is going to be a very hot next couple of days...

I have been busy trying to find another part time job to replace the job that they cut my hours WAY back. Man is the market dead... No one seems to be hiring. Unemployment compensation report that the unemployment rate is the highest it has been since 1986. Yet the price of gas and food is sky rocketing... Economists are predicting the price of regular gas will be over $5.00 a gallon before July 1st. It doesn't make any sense to take a job that pays shit and have to drive half way a cross the state to get to it. I can't keep dipping into my savings. I need to save that for the time I can't work. We have small business in the area collapsing quicker than there opening... Yet, the government keeps telling not to worry...!

We need a new government. This one is all fucked up...
