I am totally and completely, thoroughly retired... but, my friends and acquaintences between jobs right now are hurtin'. 'Course there's always Walmart, McDonalds, and Starbucks where you start out making nothing and end up making even less.

At the end of my career, I'd been working for the government for over 26 years, so I decided to take a sabbatical and see what a real civilian job was like... first I managed a Pawn Shop, which was nice because I knew a lot about tools, guns, musical instruments and jewelry. Well, I found out that upper management, this shop was part of a chain out of Austin, TX, were definitely as fucked up as the government... and in fact, could have been candidates for working at the agency I'd just left. After that, I went to work for a friend in the plumbing business as an Officer Manager/Appentice Plumber, and even though he was a good friend and working with him was a riot, I was too old to start doing new construction, restoration, and service plumbing... he needed a lot less office management and more apprentice than I was physically capable of giving him at 50. So, after about a year, I ended up taking up a government job, finishing out my time for retirement and calling it a day as soon as I was eligible to go. I'd spent a great deal of time planning for retirement, so the transition was minimal... in fact, most of my expenses revolved around commuting, parking, and traveling, and since I was no longer putting 30,000 miles a year on my vehicles, all that money became savings/whatever.

We're in for a long economic winter in this country... the government is making it easier for guest workers to enter the country, while negotiating trade agreements that allow the high paying service jobs that supported the economy through the 80s and 90s to go overseas, while the corporations still get the benefits of those services, and don't have to pay taxes on those jobs... pocketing the profits. This is going to make the depression look like a vacation at the beach.

Actually Kmart, Walmart, etc. isn't hiring either... Were I worked I was putting in 30 hrs a week. A month ago they cut me down to 12 hours a week and hired a bunch of high school kids. Now I haven't yet figured out what there supposed to be doing... From what the fuck I can tell it's nothing...

And of course management is proud of itself. These flaming asshole couldn't lead water down a fucking drain pipe...

It's time for the revolution. Time for the true American (the working class) to take this country back from this looser government. Those that can't do... Become politicans...

Like any father when my kids were growing up I had invisions of them becoming president of this great country. Then I realized that they are WAY the fuck to smart to become president...

Example: Bush... How fuck'n stupid can one person be.........................

Yet they keep blowing smoke up my ass and telling me the nation is doing fine...............................

Fuck... we're so busy letting the administration, government, and churchs set the tone and agendas for us, absorbed trying to make ends meet... having to have more than two jobs to sustain an artificial consumer economy on credit, we don't even have time to think for ourselves any more, much less smell the roses or see the beauty that surrounds us. I was out for a putt the other day and I swear traffic has doubled since the price of gas doubled. Nobody's going to let the other guy have all the fun, and were going to burn every gallon till its gone to prove it. Man, if cave men had exploited the environment and resources the way we do, we wouldn't be here... and judging by the way people drive, that might not have been such a bad thing.

Oh... you guys remember the old Steppenwolf song "Don't Step On the Grass, Sam?"... loaded that up into my MP3 player last week... every time it come up in rotation over my bike's stereo, I crank it.

All I know is my sweet ass CAN STILL take out a mother fuck'n target over a great spance of terrain. Plus that night I fall asleep like a new born baby. This country trained me to remove targets and dam fuck'n good at it. In Nam I had 18 confirmed kills. 1 more, 2 more, 100+ more isn't going to make one bit of difference to me.

This government must think I'm a fuck'n chimney because they are steadily blowing smoke up my ass... They think everyone is fuck'n stupid...

What would happen if they had an election and NO ONE showed to vote! Think it would send a message...

But cashing in on your thread of righteous indignation, I was telling my buds that what we should have is a four year moritorium on legislators... you know, shut down everything, Fed, state, local and see how the shit flows... I mean it can't be anymore fucked up than it already is.

And at the end of those four years if we found that we didn't need the gas bags after all, we could use the money we saved paying congressional salaries, lobbist, wars, to throw a big fucking party and do it again for another four years.

Man... wouldn't that be grand!

PS: My home legislature in Montana meets for 180 days every two years... the rest of the time they got to have REAL jobs to pay for their gas, cars, and extracurricular activities. Now that's what I'm talking about... and the last time I checked, the fucking place is still on the map.

Especially on the vet part... seeing as how we're both VN Vets... but, no more politicians? Who da fuck is Rush Limbaugh going to talk about every day? What da fuck is going to keep FOX news in business... there are too many evil repercussions to our fragile and overblown consumer driven economy and the propaganda machine it supports to even contemplate... It makes me cry to think that Sean Hannity might actually have to work... beside illegal immigrants... changing sheets... at a motel... where you can get a room... by the hour...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... oops... sorry... which gets back to my point about the Montana legislature... having legislators running around for six months out of 24 rather than 24 out of 24 strikes me as really progressive, economical, and forgive me for saying so, smart. Do I know what they do while their in Helena for those six months... hell, no... not one clue... but at least I know for rest of those 24 months of their terms, my taxes don't pay for their asses to sit at the end of the bar, in a brothel or collecting bribes. There is some comfort in that. Do you need politicians... no... but we don't really need surfers either, for example, but there they are, you have to do something with them.

Everything has its place in the world... politicians make our lives hell... bikers raise hell, a check and balance system if ever I saw one... you decide which makes more sense and then put them in their proper hierarchical order. Never met a biker I didn't like... politicians? ... never met a politician I did.

Seems to me the whiners are the ones that put the current SOBs in office... I voted for the right party every election since '72, even did two years in elected public office myself and found for the most part politicians are self-serving upwardly mobil ass-kissers who will stop at nothing to win the next election... think I earned the right to say so, too. But, once you're elected you got the voters who think they own you telling you what you got to do... they got money and they expect you to be beholden to them, and they literally try to buy what they want through favors, influence, promises, you name it they offer it.
