Biker's Run..........................

This is the first time that I have ever had a allergy attack. Never did plant the new plants. My head still feels like some one stuffed it with shop rags...:( Never got to go out on the bike. This really sucks and I don't mean in the good way!

Secret I don't know what happened either...? So if I did pack up my shit and cum out for a couple of days you could find me a place to sleep...? As far as the control comment... It would be very interesting to see if I bent you over how much you could actually take and how long you could take it before you became un glued... ;)

Oh J - you know as a person enters their "twilight" years your body changes and you can develop allergies.

And YES - if you and your traveling caravan come back this way I'll make sure you have a nice warm place to sleep. There is only one way to find out if you can handle me or not - - bring it stud and let's see if you're just all talk or you can walk the walk.

The part about the Harley Hornies, but it only took about eight years of hard tailed Milwaukee vibrator to destroy my lower back on western highways. Give me a softtail and windshield for the rest of my natural life.

Dinny,
I agree about going for the windshield and softer ride. My back has taken its punishment from the years to.
I'm riding a 03 Anniversary Springer with the "B" engine now. It's a great ride and the saddle is bigger so other things that have grown over the years fit better to.

Blue outs, Beware!

The season is just getting started here in the northeast and a lot of us will be buying riding glasses.
I wanted to share this little story from the road and maybe save a friend from a gravel tatoo.

It was several years back a friend and I bought some riding glasses called blue outs. They would filter out all blue light from the spectrum giving you a much clearer image. They looked great!
Well we planned a two week tour up the coast to Maine and then up into Canada returning to the States at Niagara Falls.

It was while we were in Canada that we learned of the one major downfall of these glasses. I had actually broke my glasses just before leaving so I had regular ones on. We were approaching a LH turn. The road was going up a small rise and it was a reverse camber turn ( road banks in wrong direction )
I could see up ahead of my buddy a large oil slick. Looked like a car blew its trans and coasted off to the shoulder. What I couldn't believe was my friend riding smack dab into the oil slick! He was a seasoned rider so no excuse. I had to watch in horror as his rear wheel kicked out and his 780 LB Electra Glide Police Special went over on top of him. He was on his back sliding on the hot asphault as the bike slowly slid further over on top of him. It finally reached the shoulder where the front wheel caught a fence post and stopped the bike. My friend was lucky escaping with a gravel tatoo up his one arm and a nasty burn on his leg from the pipe.
He was able to get the twisted front fender out from the forks and aside from a worn saddle bag and worn out crash bars the bike was okay.
After he calmed down enough to use words with more than four letters we talked about what happened. He was looking his bike over for oil leaks trying to figure out why all the oil was on the road. We looked at him and asked him why he didn't see it before? He stood there and said it wasn't there.
At first we thought he was shaken up from doing down but it became very clear he was serious about not seeing the oil slick. Finally I took his glasses,,, the "blue-outs" and looked back at the road. Sure enough the oil slick that was so big just disappeared! Gone!
All of us tried the glasses on and couldn't believe how that huge black stain in the road just disappeared! Looking through the blue outs the road looked like one uniform black ribbon of highway. After strapping the twisted fender back on the bike he packed those glasses in his saddlebag.

So if you have a pair of these glasses please don't use them on the road.

I would love a leisurely ride thru the country...and hell...I would even sing along with that blaring country music!!! :rose:

Good point, Wings...

Some of the other colored lenses on the market make it difficult to see sandy patches or gravel... you lose color and shadow contrast... very important for manuevering through the Rocky Mountain region and points west where they still sand and gravel the roads during the winter. Good time to mention it too.

Dinny , If you head out to Sturgis you must take a ride on Needles highway! Great ride. Let us know how far along they are on Chief crazy Horse too. They were just blasting out the hole under his arm holding the reigns for the horse. Good times out there, enjoy the ride.

I hate it when that happens. If my message doesn't go through, most often I don't type up another one. Trying to say the same thing twice is frustrating, and I lose all desire. If I do, it comes out bad the second time. Long messages are what I'm talking about.

Oh, I'm hanging in. Sometimes I get frustrated, almost lose hope. Most often I have patience. I've learned some patience through the years.

I've never heard of that saying before. "You meet the nicest people on a honda.:) Sounds good to me. :D

Sounds nice where you are, a big spread by the river. I'm not a skinny dipper, but I'd love a few cold beers and some good company.

Needles, huh?

Thanks, Wings, I didn't go by Crazy Horse on my way through in '98 (last time at Sturgis), but I will be sure to check it out this time. Then I hope to be headed through Needles... California that is and do some serious desert riding with the other two rookie retirees I'll be indoctrinating in to the fine art of goofing off, sloth, and general party till you puke activities which I have mastered after four years. By the way, I settled for an '06 Yamaha Royal Star Venture dresser... I was looking at a '05 Harley Black Hills Special at Laramie Harley, but the hog needed about five grand worth of additions to make it right and the 72 month financing turned me off... The Yamaha was about four grand more, but came with everything including five years road side service... no more cranking a wrench at midnight on the side of the road for this scooter tramp... and 48 month financing. I've had it since May of '06 and I'm as happy as a pig in shit about it. My Harley buddies keep giving me crap about resale value, but shit I ain't selling the bike anyhow... it's going to the grave with me.

Lori you gotta get your own ride, 'cause when your sittin' on the back of that iron horse ain't no tellin' where its a-going unless you're a-drivin'. And you can always trust yourself to find a good time when you get to where ever you decide to go.

Its not my thing to have a bike of my own. If I ever find a guy to ride with, it will be a great time. I'm choosy. I know what I want and need. I'm not looking for someone perfect, just perfect for me. It will happen sooner or later.

Isn't it sad, I probably live the closest to ya, but I have a solo seat...not sure I could ride with another woman, might give us names we don't want to be called. I figure I'll stay with my solo seat, already replaced my seat for a passenger with it...enough risk to take my own life in my hands, wouldn't want to risk anyone else's. Actually, I just like riding alone. Sometimes I ride with a group of friends, but I really like going out on my own, curvy country roads, my pace, my freedom. Now if it comes to riding to a rally or a poker run, I will go with the group. But blowing cobwebs out is a lone ride for me.

Good morning, friends... :)

I always said that bikers seem to get a bad rap for most part. I personally think you can't meet a better truer group of people than bikers.

Lorelei_11, I am going to expand a little on what Snake has said. For me it is a sense of freedom. I would compare it to passionate sensual love making. Being in control, being able to pick up the pace or slow the pace down. It is in fact a intimate bond between rider (man or woman) and machine. Known the machine the as if you know your lover's naked body. Knowing everything about it and knowing how to make it respond to your touch. I find myself aroused when out on my bike and yes it does roll over into my love make after a great day in the saddle.

As usual, I am way behind...but all of what you say here holds true for me. My biker friends would be there for me in thick and thin. And we are always holding charity rides, scholorship rides or rides for other bikers who are down and out. Toy runs also.

And as I said in an earlier post...being on my bike is my freedom. I ride a little vibrating machine that I wouldn't trade for anything right now...maybe I should take that back...I am looking at a bigger bike but have my goal set for it for 2 yrs...so right now I am happy with my sportster. It is fun. Yes, I have to tighten a lot of the bolts after every ride, but it is part of it for me. Part of loving my baby. It is one of the best freedom feelings I get...that and riding a real horse...course, then there is riding on a male...that does get my attention also!!! And yes, after a day of riding, I am truely aroused for the male ride. Something about all that fresh air and wind and the vibration... ;)

G-mornin' everyone,

...Welcome back sassy, where ya been in so long woman, out on the open road, wringin the throttle back... ;) ..I tend to enjoy the same type ride sassy, feet up, takin' in a nice country road, I have not been on before, but I luv the music blaring.
Like I have said, cows stop pickin' to watch ya go by, folks on porches are lookin' to see what that is comin' up the holler, blaring out the brooks an dunn. Its really a feelin' that nothin else can campare to.... :)
...Sure Lori, was what I thought. First trip to Daytona, did my cook in, she had to have a bike, and now shes on her 2nd one. Personally, I would rather haul my woman, but its like been mentioned, she enjoys goin' it alone, and I can see her point, so whatdya say...Enjoy, and be careful.
...As for the message, I skipped it, went on to work, and came in that afternoon, and tried again. Livin' out here in the stiks, does have its disadvantages...Altho the good, far out weigh the bad... ;)
...All this talk of Sturgis dinny, has me gettin' worked up. Some beautiful, altho very hot country, that time of year. Lots of nice country to see, some scenic rides, as well as some hellacious parties...Told ya, the planning stage is half the fun...I have friends who are leavin' out Sunday for Myrtle, now ya think thats not a bummer, I missed daytona, now Myrtle, and to make it worse, they'll go, and bring back stories, and pics of all the good times...I like it for them, but sure am feelin' sorry for myself... ;) ...lol
...whspr hon, that sounds like a fine idea, you singin in my ear, as we go toolin' thru the countryside... ;)
...Damn allergies are flarin' up again here as well jade, and I thought we were perty much thru all this shit. Course I been out in it every evenin', till dark, sprayin' fence rows, and ramblin' rose bushes. Just keep takin' allergy pills, and hope for rain to hold some this shit down...
...Hope everyone has a great HUMP day...cool here early, but has ben warming up nice during the day...

...Take care, and ride safe... :)

The price of gasoline.

When it hits 10 dollars per gallon, we bikers will be laughing at the GMC Yukon owners whose vehicles won't be worth 10 cents on the open market. :nana:

The key rule of buying a bike...

Never get anything you can't pick up when it flops... it ain't if... it's when. My bikes 850 lbs unloaded... and I have picked it up. Hurt like hell for two days afterward and my voice is a little higher than it should be at 54... but the bike is upright and all is right with my world. Oh, second rule, good crash bars keep you from making expensive repairs. Third rule, if you have to lay the bike down, do it when you're not moving... it reduces damage to bike and rider.

Snake, you are right about hot... 107 last year for a lot of the rally. But I was raised in the Mojave Desert outside Barstow, CA for a good long time between the time I was 12 and 18 y.o. My only problem with the heat these days is my blood pressure, but hopefully keeping well hydrated and my pills close by my side I'll be just fine. And if I'm not, what the hell, I won't know it.

Your destiny is yours.

If there's any jinxing in your future it is of your own making. In forty years I have fallen a lot, eaten gravel and dirt... and by the way what kind of training wheels you using on that thing?

Haha, Jade

I was reading your earlier comment on age... has nothing to do with age my friend has a lot to do with mileage... the Vietnam war added about ten years to my mileage, otherwise I wouldn't be a 'disabled' vet. You just keep pickin' 'em that way and you'll be 25 again before you know it. Haha. Let me know when you get to 15.
