Cool, I just looked at it. I like to hear peoples stories, as I posted here before. I really enjoyed that show from Vegas in a tattoo shop. Just got back from Super Sunday on Hartford, CT and I am sorry to say I was a bit disappointed. They wasn't as many vendor's there this year. This years theme was in support of the American Troops. than I thought, my dad did three tours back to back, in fact they wanted him to go back for a fourth tour and he told them to take the job and shove it... he'd been away from home for four years. My Dad was a lifer...he joined at the age of 18 which was just before the end of WW2...served out the war in New Guinea, joined the occupational forces of japan as a sergeant.
was given a field commission in Korea and ended that war as a Captain....he then served Malaysia during the uprising.. in 1967 he and Mum adopted my sister as they were unable to have kids themselves...Dad then served in Borneo for a year.....in 1969 they adopted me and dad had already done 2 tours of Vietnam......his first was with 3RAR and his second was with 7 RAR.
In 1971 he went back with 4 RAR for their final tour....I grew up with old Army mates coming over and talking about the "old days" and I had a lot of uncles....Dad retired from the Army in 1975 when I was 6.
I joined in 1986 as a reservist and Dad came to my recruit march out in full ceremonial uniform ( a lot of colonels flipped their wigs when I called him Dad)

Sadly in may 1988 he passed away just before my sister turned 21 ...as the song goes ..I was only 19 and for a while I went off the rails....I had lost not only my dad but my best friend and my mentor.....
