Well envy all you want now bro. No bike for this biker. I took a hit and tumble ladies and gents about 5 hours ago and am just getting out of and home from the hospital. Lots of bumps, bruises, strains, sprains, and scraps for this biker dude but no broken bones. Kinda suprised me and the doc too but I am a tough old coot. All that milk growing up, ya know. I cannot say as well for my baby though. She is down very hard. Front end is SHOT. Mangled and twisted fender, bent rim, twisted forks, basically f'ed up!!!!

Hey, brother sorry to hear about the accident... Good thing is that your still here. I know you won't take my advise but perhap you need a couple of days off to heal a little. Not that you'll take my advice. Be sure to check the frame to make sure it didn't get torgued. Hanging a new front end on a bent frame never works. Replacing the forks, wheel, tire, front brake assembly, and fender isn't to bad. Once again my friend I am very sorry to hear about the accident. Take care...!

Well the 3 things I mentioned I will bring...my BBQ beef is also home smoked and the sauce homemade. SO that, the cole slaw, the potato salad which is different enough from yours...
But also maybe some small bite desserts...dazzle you guys with that Chef school training of mine,lol

I had the number already...but thanks...I spent many a Sunday afternoon having dinner there growing up..

Looks like Sir G and I will arrive together...if his bike is out of the shop we'll arrive on that. I may drop off my stuff to you Friday night if that is ok....already put in for that day off and and will be heading north that AM...it's about 350 miles...

If anyone else in the Va, DC, or any of the other states north need a ride...well I'll have room...though you'll need your own room to stay in cause I'm not sharing,lol

I am proud to announce (or re announce) the first Biker’s Run get together and BBQ…

The rescheduled date will be; August 18th, 2007.

The location will be; my place in the sleep town of Woodbury, Connecticut nestled in the beautiful hills of Litchfield county...

Who is invited; the good members of Biker’s Run (and very naughty biker chic’s… )

Rule of attending; damned if I know…! We never had rules before…! This is like Vegas, what happens here stays here!

All joking aside this is your opportunity to meet some of the great people on this thread face to face. It will be a day good food, good friends, and good times. Just a day for you to relax in the warm sun with your extended family. No pressure and no egos! Just laughter and lots of fun.

This will be the first in a series of Biker’s Run BBQ’s. They have always been about promoting friendships.

Although we love seeing your bike it is not necessary for those traveling long distances or those planning to drink a little to attend on a 2 wheeler. There are times when a 4 wheeler is a better choice than reading about you in the newspaper. Those planning to attend please PM me so your name can be added to the list attending.

Good morning, everyone...

It is a very sunny morning in the little town of Woodbury, CT. It is going to be another scorcher... I watered my gardens really heavy last night so they will be in good shape today. Sitting here with a cup of freshly brewed dunkin donuts coffee. To me coffee is a religion. Yes, I worship the bean...

Well back rest and my plans are cancelled for the beach today. It seems that she return home to her parents house only to find they were robbed. All the rooms had been torn apart with the exception of her's. Her MP3 player. IPOD, and jewelry all in the open and un touched. Which seems to tell me it was someone she knew. Her mom's purse was gone (contianing money) and the spare set(s) of keys for the family cars and her truck are gone. So it looks like I am going to be replacing lock sets on three vehicle and fairly soon. As it sounds like they are planning a revisit. They have to go to the police station to fill out more paper work today. I'll probaly hang around if she needs me!

Doc once again I am sorry to hear about your accident. I can only imagine how sore you must be right now. Just kick back and relax the rest of the week. I feel you're gonna need time with the insurance agent this week any way. Hope you recover soon my friend.

My main vehicle is a big assed Expedition...maybe not very green of me but it keeps me safe on road trips. That's why I want to drop the stuff off a bit early...this way if G and I arrive by his bike then no carrying of anything else. I'll be sure tyo pack it all in coolers so you don;t have to worry about fridge space.

Sorry to hear about your friend's troubles...and I concur that this sounds like an inside job more or less...it's scary to think someone you might know could invade your life like that. A lock change is definitely in order.

Hope everyone else out there has a better day. Doc hope you aren't hurting too much this morning.

...all is not lost...while you are sitting there nursing your battle scars, hit e-bay and see what is available...I need fork seals and it is cheaper to buy the forks with seals installed...dig a little deeper and find your bike in a salage yard...like a game of chess against a respected opponent, see if you can mend your love before you start thinking of a tatoo to accent your badges of honor.

...tell me what you need so I also have a search to have fun with...been looking for an oil dip stick to replace that stupid Jap oil window for, like, forever...<smile>

Hope you cruise up for Jaded's BBQ....would really like to have you describe what happened...I will naturally match you with my big dump....it had to do with a Catty, a raccoon, two chiwawa's, a bank vice president, and a ghost....and the story gets better as the years go by...

Let me share a tidbit about dealing with your ins adjuster.
They have a job to do but there are ways to make life easier for all concerned. Trust me on this.
Most ins adjusters are geared up for cars and Motorcycles are a big pain in the rear for them. This is because few have the part info readily available and need to research everything especially if someone customized the bike.

Take, trailer , or drag the hulk over to your dealer and pay for them to do an estimate for you.
If you accessorized or put aftermarket custom parts on it have the info ready so these parts can be replaced or at least priced out.

After you have the estimate in hand you can tell the ins co to inspect it at the dealer or shop or bring it home and have them look at it at your home.

If you leave it at the shop and it's a total loss they will charge you storage but the ins co will pay this too if it's reasonable.
I prefer to have my bike at my house so I can make sure it doesn't get messed with.

The ins co owes to return the bike to "pre-loss" condition and thats all. If a part shows wear or tarnished chrome they have the right to depreciate it for condition. Most don't depreciate unless its obvious wear. If the new part makes the bike "better" than it was before the loss they can take "Betterment". ( worn tire replaced with new one)

I don't tell you this to scare you but just to give you some facts.
You most likely will not have any of this if the bike was clean before it went down.

The adjuster has a job to do and that is simply to verify damages. Remember that adjuster will sign the check so be friendly and helpful and YOU win.
Have an estimate ( realistic) and he has the prices he needs to get his job done quickly for YOU.

I also agree 100% with Jaded about the frame. If the forks snapped around and hit the frame or the triple trees hit their stops hard it could "Tweek" the frame slightly so it doesn't track straight. If thats the case you may want to start pricing a new bike cause a new frame will most likely make it a t/l.

Here is the story. For those not familiar with the area it may not make a lot of sense but Googlemap Hwy 29 and Shirley Gate Road, in zip 22030 and you will get the jist of it.

I was on the way home from Manassas. I stopped to grab a bite , since I had not had a chance all day. As I was getting back to Fairfax just after 5, I turned on Shirley Gate off Braddock, then right on 29, on my way to Jermantown and then home. As I got to the K-mart area a lady coming from the shopping center across 29 from K-mart (something centre?) turned in front of me. I tried with all my might to avoid the accident and almost did but clipped her left rear fender, and took off her bumper. I with my years of experience kicked into training mode and rolled as I went over the bike and hit the pavement. Laid for a second to make sure I was indeed ok and got up since I was laying in the middle of the left lane of a major roadway. Fire, ambulance, and police all came. I was evaluated at the scene and told I was ok but should probably see a doc . Like I did not know that. Long story short, she tried to get out of it and, according to the officer, said I must have been speeding or something because she never saw me. No wonder our kids lie to get out of stuff 'cause their are only emulating their parents. She saw me the whole time as I looked into her eyes as she tried to rush past me. She was just trying to beat the 5 o'clock traffic that was waiting at all the surrounding lights to be released who knows when. She thought she could do it because I was only doing 25 miles per hour or so as I had just come off the turn. The Police, thank goodness, did not believe her because although the bike is majorly hurt if I were speeding then I would not have been by the side of the road, rather would have been in the ambulance on the way to the ER. She was ticketed for failure to yield. As all this continued I did start hurting worse and worse so after the bike was cared for a friend took me to the ER. They could not believe it but no broken bones. I, quite frankly, could not believe it either as I was in quite a bit of pain. So I just have bumps, bruises, scrapes, strains, and sprains. The doc said that I was going to feel this in the morning and did I. In fact he told me to take it easy for a couple of days.

Today's update is that I am sore sore and sore. Got some new bruises that came up over night too. They have accepted fault for the accident ..... duh. I am in a rental cage for now. They are having the bike towed to a salvage yard just across the border in Md. Where their adjuster is going to look at it. That seems a bit weird to me. Concern is the triple tree and bent frame as NYWings said.

I took the cage to the tow company today to empty the saddle bags. I about cried.I used my cell to get a few pics. These are not for the weary at heart. Remember the handlebars are almost pointed to the front.

Doc just saw the pictures and bro I feel so sad right now. I saw the pictures before and she is a beautiful lady. Christ I am over protective of my horse. I honestly think I would throw myself between the on coming vehicle and my bike. I can't even conceive your emotions right now. Shit I'm near tears looking at those pictures. I was glad to hear you were ok. I agree with NYWings about the frame. We had a Harley come in the shop I worked at that was in a accident. The rider wasn't as lucky as you and was killed. I was thinking about buying it and repairing at the shop until I found out the frame was bent... Keep us informed my friend. I do hope you feel better.

Thanks for all the advice. What is going to hurt if it has to be totalled is that I am still in the "upside down" mode on this thing. I know the comprehensive will cover it but am concerned about the $7000 plus I got in it! Last time this happened, although I was at fault, I did not see enough back to even get my downpayment out of the deal. If that were to happen this biker would not be a happy camper as this was a dream for many years to get the bike. I will mend but I am not sure that would mend for me at all.

Wow that really suck's . I'm glad you are allright though . Bikes can be replaced people can't . I would give the bike a big kiss this couldd have been you that was totaled . I'm down myself my stator went on my 86 wing this week . I'm trying to get it into the shop but it's a 8 hour job so may have to wait a few weeks . Well maybe someone is trying to save me from the fate that you are in . I'm not used to riding in a car at this time of year . They are for winter !!!!!!!!! Anyway good luck to you .

I got my fingers crossed for ya on that deal. Hope it works out for you.
You might want to start getting a list of classifieds showing what similar bikes are selling for in your area. That at least will give you an idea as to what the value should be. Everything will need to be tempered for add ons and condition but it will give you a guide. I hear you about being upside down on the loan. some states will have GAP protection so you don't have to pay the outstanding debt BUT that doesn't help with your deductible or a downpayment for the replacement.

It's still hot and very humid. We got a shower last night and it seems it only increased the humidity. We have a chance of some violent T-storms this evening. Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer. The air is very heavy right now... We have a chance of getting a good weekend out of this.

Finished a little deck for a friend today...nothing special and something he might be a bit too old to build for himself...I could have finished it earier but with DeWalt delux power mitre saw mounted on a table, air compresser and a Bostitch nail gun to play with, I let him have some fun even it he did slow me down a bit...he was happier than a pig in slop...
I sweated like a long tailed cat in a rocking chair factory and this Bud I just cracked is not going to be as good as the one I will crack in about thirty minutes.

No word from the shop as to when "Borderline Love" will be tuned and ready for the highway but I have hopes for this weekend...ya'll will know if it is released by my lack of postings...I plan my saddletime for the Delaware Water Gap so me and the 'ole girl can renew our romantic love affair...

Doc...you will be my wingman in spirit on this one, buddy...

Sounds like a fun day....at least those nail guns have safetys on them and you really can't get shot...unless your hand happens to be in the way.Now me, I have one that does not require a compressor...use it for finish nails to do trim work
Can go around an entire room without a problem..no cords to drag.

It's started to storm here..the thunder is rattling the windows and the lightening is scarring the crap out of the diogs...they are huddled against me so tight I may as well be wearing them. Hope this brings the cooler weather.

I am one step closer to my dream....will make the first of many payments on the Shadow 750 I have been drooling over....that is if the bank sees it's way clear to the financial package.

As I was getting back to Fairfax just after 5, I turned on Shirley Gate off Braddock, then right on 29, on my way to Jermantown and then home. As I got to the K-mart area a lady coming from the shopping center across 29 from K-mart (something centre?) turned in front of me. I tried with all my might to avoid the accident and almost did but clipped her left rear fender, and took off her bumper. I with my years of experience kicked into training mode and rolled as I went over the bike and hit the pavement. Laid for a second to make sure I was indeed ok and got up since I was laying in the middle of the left lane of a major roadway. Fire, ambulance, and police all came. I was evaluated at the scene and told I was ok but should probably see a doc . Like I did not know that. Long story short, she tried to get out of it and, according to the officer, said I must have been speeding or something because she never saw me. No wonder our kids lie to get out of stuff 'cause their are only emulating their parents. She saw me the whole time as I looked into her eyes as she tried to rush past me. She was just trying to beat the 5 o'clock traffic that was waiting at all the surrounding lights to be released who knows when. She thought she could do it because I was only doing 25 miles per hour or so as I had just come off the turn. The Police, thank goodness, did not believe her because although the bike is majorly hurt if I were speeding then I would not have been by the side of the road, rather would have been in the ambulance on the way to the ER. She was ticketed for failure to yield. As all this continued I did start hurting worse and worse so after the bike was cared for a friend took me to the ER. They could not believe it but no broken bones. I, quite frankly, could not believe it either as I was in quite a bit of pain. So I just have bumps, bruises, scrapes, strains, and sprains. The doc said that I was going to feel this in the morning and did I. In fact he told me to take it easy for a couple of days.

Today's update is that I am sore sore and sore. Got some new bruises that came up over night too. They have accepted fault for the accident ..... duh. I am in a rental cage for now. They are having the bike towed to a salvage yard just across the border in Md. Where their adjuster is going to look at it. That seems a bit weird to me. Concern is the triple tree and bent frame as NYWings said.

I took the cage to the tow company today to empty the saddle bags. I about cried.I used my cell to get a few pics. These are not for the weary at heart. Remember the handlebars are almost pointed to the front.

I know that intersection well...you're lucky there wasn't a large truck coming through at the same time what with Home Depot and other large stores nearby...

Why do the people of Virginia think it is a god given right to make those right turns on red....they barely slow down never mind stop before making them.

Good evening, everyone....

Well the day has finally came to a end. The major T-storms pasted threw here about a hour ago. No lightening and I think I could have actually counted the rain drops that hit the ground. We haven't had a decent rain in a while now... I had to water the gardens at sun set. So I am just getting a chance to sit down and relax. The humidity is supposed to be gone in the morning. I have a lawn to cut tomorrow morning and laundry to do tomorrow evening. I have to go into work Saturday and cover for my boss.

Doc I hope those bumps and bruises are starting to go away. The more I read about your accident the more I keep thinking how luck you are...

Doc, I just finally logged on and read about your accident. I'm glad you're going to be OK and I hope you mend quickly. I'm glad the f'in cage driver got it shoved up her ass!!!!!!! I hate seeing a wrecked Harley or any bike for that matter. I've loved Harley's for years and for me it seems they have a heart and soul so I feel for you bro. I hope everything works out for the good.

I went and saw Ted Nugent last night and got home at 1 AM so I was starting to get my head out of ass from the 3 hours of sleep this past weekend now I'm back to square one. Good thing the weekend is coming. BTW Nuge was fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a grey overcast morning here in the small New England town of Woodbury, CT. There is still some humidity left in the air. I am hoping that clears out.

Hazy, hot, and humid...as well as any other H word you care to use to describe how the day has dawned here in the Old Dominion. Now who was it that complained about the cold weather and ordered the steam bath,lol.

Cannot believe it is almost July...did spring ever really arrive or did we just descend directly to the hellish depths of summer?
