Comments That Make Your Day

My latest Loving Wives story posted last night "Do We Need to Talk?", and I just got this comment:

I’m sure I will get hate mail for this…

I thought it was a good story! A much more thoughtful and mature take on the LW story than any I’ve read in a long while. The protagonist explained his thinking and the rationale for how he became the person he is. The fact is most military personnel go through this kind of thing often, more so in the navy and marines I think, but it happens in all the service. Most people don’t learn from their mistakes or grow up from them. They become jaded, bitter, and feel everything they went through over and over again. I’m sure you have read comments and thought the comment or was a little too harsh or way over the top. Some people do learn from mistakes and become more aware of themselves and their partners. They develop a trust in their partner that allows them to do things like in this story.

Good job!

Thanks, JAFCritic3.

Edit: The "Jody" comment from the one preceding your's indicates someone who has been there, was probably the cheated spouse, and has a fantasy of "burning the bastard who fucked his bitch". But such extremes never happen in real life.

Edit2: The comment above was quickly followed by the other extreme:

So, my average story rating is nudging UP toward a 3!

This is a story I wish I had written. I've been toying with in medias res but have never quite made it work well enough to publish. You've inspired me to try again.
I usually write non-con and horror, but I tried my hand at a cute romance-y lesbian BDSM story, and apparently it worked out (even though I suck at formatting)! This feels like super duper high praise from another BDSM author, so I'm literally sitting here bouncing in my chair; made me all fuzzy 🥰

Might have to swap main genre now!

@FreyaGersemi had the following feedback on Too Hot Not to Fuck:
5 Stars!! But... A woman that doesn't like her hair being messed with during sex...? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just kidding!! I'm sure there are some. 🤔
This one is established as having spent an hour in the bathroom with an extensive collection of toiletries, so I figured she's pretty particular about her hair. :)

But still... Then again, I don't even have long nails because they get in the way doing normal stuff like dishes and yardwork and giving the dog a bath, etc... I guess I'm not girly enough.

It’s not the same as a comment, but I get a small chill of pleasure when I am the first person a new reader follows or one of my stories the first they list as a favourite. It is to me a real compliment, with all the solid stories and imaginative, talented authors on Literotica, to be chosen first.

(Yes, yes, I see the analogy but let’s not push this too far. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.)
To my knowledge this has only happened to me once, BUT I had the additional pleasure of getting the impression that the reader ONLY made the account in order to save my work and favorite me as an author. The evidence that supported that?

Their name was nonsense made by dragging fingers across the keys. It was something like

qwertyuiop123456789

To me, that user name screams:

"Oh fuck! I've gotta save this story and author! Ugh! I need to make an account for that? FINE!"
*Drags fingers across keyboard*
"Happy Now?! I've created an account! No let me favorite this story so I can get back to reading!"

Of course, that's merely one of many possible ways that could have gone down... But it's the one I prefer.

Or they were just sliding towards the righthand side of the keyboard as they keeled over, their last act on this earth being brushing a finger over the enter key...?!?!

Every tensed muscle seemed to relax in unison as her fingers fell from her slit, but, her relief was short lived as the remnants of pleasure were replaced by an overwhelming sense of impending doom. Fire clutches at her breast, pain constricting her aging heart, as the clot that had broken free comes to the end of its journey.
Arms flailing, reaching for her phone, have to call for help! She's too late. Her strength evaporates and she slumps down over her keyboard, remains lit only by the bright light from her monitor. Silence.

"Oh neat, a new follower! Yay!" 🥰

I want to remind you naysayers that it is easier to type simple names with one hand. 😜

Also, they went on to favorite other things, so they didn't die while reading my story. Jerks. Lol

I did a quick search on "qwerty" and that appears to be a fairly popular name. I sent a DM to qwertyuiop739739 to see if that was him, he said no, but he has a cousin named qwertyuiop1029384756, check with him. My member search on qwerty turned up 1459 members so I'm going to agree with @StillStunned - it's a popular name somewhere.

Today's comment on a satirical/humor story entitled, 'On a Train Bound for No Where.' It was submitted for the Winter Contest Event. Told from the MC's point of view, it recounts his Christmas-time visit to the physical therapist's office, followed by a home visit by, of course, a cute home therapist for a follow-up. Since it's a Lit story, I guess you can figure out how that sort of turned out. It takes Kenny Roger's song lyrics into a whole different realm.

"I had a great time reading this and the best laugh I’ve had in a long time. Thanks for taking the time to write this."

This one REALLY humbled me
On Andi's Dream -

Some people are born with certain talents, they can expand on them by seeking training, experience, but, the true experts have the "DNA" for that talent. I cannot cook a "Five Star Meal" but I certainly can recognize one when I'm eating it. I, in no way, can come close to doing what you have created here but I am aware of Excellence when I come across it. YOU HAVE ARRIVED! ! THANK YOU ! ! !

So... a dude named Commmentarista82 just left a series of comments on my VDay story that, frankly, is a little weird. I'd paste it here, but it's literally about 3k words.

He cites Isabel Allende in his critique, and suggests that one of my characters might be Oedipal, based solely on the fact that I chose to give the character a Hispanic name. And why? Because it's "Cruz" and I was watching a news story about a cruise when I came up with the name.

Holy shit. It's amazing what some people will read into these things. He did spend most of the review saying how great the story was, which was gratifying until he told me he'd left a 3*.

He just hit Friend Zoned and went on and on about comma splices and my characters and how horrible they were. 1,648 words and in the end he left a 3* too. I wanted to shake him and scream "IT'S JUST PORN YOU BLITHERING SELF CENTERED DIPSHIT!" It's not the first time he's hit my stories and it's not the first time I moderated him. If he wants to be the center of attention he needs to start writing his own stories.

I replied, civilly, and he wrote another screed.

I know we all complain about not getting enough comments, but...

That's why we have the power of moderation. Leveling complaints and taking your leave is one thing. Jumping up and down and shrieking "Look at me be smart" for nearly 2000 words is grueling. I couldn't burden my readers with this pseudointellectual verbal masturbation

Yep.

He didn't say anything "bad," so I'll let it stand; I don't delete comments lightly. But it's also not his own little playspace. So once it's clear he's said enough, and future readers can see that I've responded, that's where it'll end.

I let them stand until other readers remarked on it. But you're right, it's not his playspace, it's ours.
