For today, at any rate. Unfortunately I am two biodegradable erosion mats short, which means there is more seeding and matting in my future, BUT, the vast bulk is finished. Which is good, because I am absolute toast.

So, this whole haircut thing.

I've taken too cutting my hair at the beginning of summer for this farm project. There's so much to do outside and it's soooooooo hot. This year particularly, as I'm hoping to finish up.

The thing is, I've never liked how I look with short hair. I usually wear it sort of medium long. Two to five inches past my shoulders.

A friend has been raving about this new salon she found. So much so, I made an appointment. My stylist was ah-mazing. Sniped and razored and shaped to frame my face and flow.

It may be the best haircut I've ever had!

I'm giving serious consideration to keeping it short.

Back to the haircut.

Because this amused me.

My stylist had this fall of long, dense, lush hair with a lot of body. Magazine hair. Enough hair for three people kind of hair. Medium brown with randomly placed streaks of secondary colors.

My hair is entirely different texturally speaking. Wavy, but fine and soft, possibly unusually so for an adult. On top of, it's "virgin" hair. Meaning it's not colored, permed, straightened, or otherwise chemically treated. That typically = more soft to the touch.

She had finished my hair and kept . . . touching it. Not cutting. Not brushing. Just touching.

It was . . . a little strange.

Eventually I asked if she wasn't quite happy with the cut.

Nope.

She just couldn't stop touching my hair because it was like touching silk.

I laughed, and told her how much I'd been admiring her hair.


It's a constant curiosity to me how often people are intrigued by what they themselves do not possess.
