RALEIGH, N.C. - A bank robber who hit in Durham this week is suspected in nine other robberies around North Carolina this year and the FBI says the robber may be getting more confident.

The robber has hit banks in Monroe, Greensboro, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Wilson, Wilmington and other areas, according to the FBI.

"We have serial bank robbers from time to time that cause us a lot of concern," said Frank Perry, who leads the FBI's Raleigh field office.

Investigators say the man is armed with a black semiautomatic handgun.
In the latest robbery, the man entered RBC Bank in Durham about 9:40 a.m. Thursday, went behind the counter and robbed the safe and three cash drawers, said Greg Coats, a Durham police officer assigned to the FBI's violent crimes task force.

The bandit brandished his gun and said, "Don't make me use this," according to a statement released by the Durham Police Department.

Coats said that in past robberies, the man never walked behind the counter nor spent so much time inside. Durham police arrived within three minutes and just missed him, Coats said.

Tracking dogs followed a scent to the parking lot of an abandoned school behind the bank. The scent trail ended at a pair of tire tracks in the mud, he said.

Perry said that after a robbery June 21 at a Central Carolina Bank in Wilmington, the same man got in his car, inspected his loot and then angrily returned to the bank with his gun drawn.

Bank employees had locked the doors behind him and he could not enter, Perry said.
On several occasions, Perry said, the holdup man has told bank clerks he was desperate.
The man is thought to use several disguises involving different hats, sunglasses, facial hair, and patches and bandages over parts of his face.

If i'm missing for a full week, i'm definitely drowning......


Has anybody come across my keys??? I lost them somewhere between the parking deck and the office where my meeting was being held yesterday.

The only thing i give my kids for "summer work" is the workbooks that we don't use in class. I don't care what they do with them over the summer, it's a closet cleaning exercise for me.


I just don't understand teachers that give kids homework over the weekend or vacations.

I thought they were locked in the car, my purse was in the trunk.

Roadside assistance guy comes, opens the car, and i get my purse out of the trunk. My spare set of keys are in the purse so i wasn't totally stranded.

My keys were not in my car, purse, or bag i had in the meeting. The office was locked by the time the guy got there to open my car, so i have to go back Monday and search for my keys.

As if i needed somethign else to do Monday.
