What are your all-time favorite movie scenes? Funny, sad, silly, scary...what are some scenes that you love, could even watch them over and over? This can be a quote or just a description. What about it did you love so much? I have many, some are not even the best movies or even my favorite movies, but the scenes in and of themselves are just wonderful. I'll start:

"Gee, I'm real sorry your mom blew up, Ricky." John Cusack, Better Off Dead.

That is a classic quote and scene, it kills me every time I see it, I laugh over and over again. So few funny things can make you laugh every time, because the shock value is gone. I have many more to come. Let me hear some of yours!

The diner scene where Sally pretends to have an orgasm and another patron says, "I'll have what she's having."

from When Harry Met Sally

That is a classic!

Planes, Trains and Automobiles
I love the part when Steve Martin and John Candy wake up in the motel room-they realize they are spooning and that John has his hand between what he thought were two pillows but ended up being Steves legs. They jump up and try to act manly....

I love, love, love that part!!!!

LOL! "Those aren't pillows!!" Thanks for sharing!

Alright, here's another one, it's my favorite fight scene.

True Romance, when Patricia Arquette beats the living shit out of James Gandolfini. It is so graphic, but it is amazing! She just doesn't stop, she unloads the shotgun into him, and when that's empty she beats his body with it. That gets me every time, just so brutal and empowering at the same time. She didn't just roll over and let herself get beat down and killed, she fought with every ounce. Love it!

Ooh... so many scenes.

I usually go for ones that make me cry because I'm so happy....

The one I remember most vividly is the very end of Shawshank redemption when Red and Andy spot each other on the beach..

Another one that gets me is in Field of Dreams when Burt Lancaster saves Kevin Costner's girl, but has to step off of the baseball field to do it. This means he can't stay and as he walks into the corn I cry every time.

I'm a bit of a sap...

On a male testosterone level, I like the scene in 48 Hours when Eddie Murphy goes into the cowboy bar and announces "There's a new sheriff in town" :D

And I also love the scene at the end of 'Bad Boys' where the baddie finally gets his.... it's also the only film I've seen with martin Lawrence where I haven't wanted to do him bodily harm. ;)

Great thread foof!!

I just saw this one again yesterday....In 'Home Alone' when Kevin puts his brothers taurantula on the robbers face and he screams like a little girl....I hurt myself laughing at the way he screams.

Wake up fishy..Why are you sleeping *shake bag really hard*

Nemo rocks

I love that I think it reminds me of when I was little

ok... this one might be hard to decsribe because it's largely visual but I'll do my best... it's from love actually. this dude (peter) is in love with the girl that's married to his best friend (juliet)... he shows up on their doorstep on christmas eve. she answers the door and you can hear hubby ask her who it is. peter puts his finger to his mouth (shhh) and holds up the first of a stack of cue cards. it reads, "say it's carol singers," which she does, and he puts down his boombox and starts the music (silent night).

he stands there, not saying a word, showing her these cue cards in succession. they read, "with any luck, by next year I'll be dating one of these girls (card has pictures of models on it). but for now let me say, without hope or agenda... just because it's christmas (and at christmas time you have to tell the truth), that to me you are perfect - and my wasted heart will love you until you look like this (card has a picture of a mummy on it). merry christmas." she mouths the words back to him, he gives a little wave, picks up his boombox and walks off down the street. juliet comes running after him..... gives him a passionate kiss, and runs back into the house. peter says, "enough. enough now," and walks off alone.

I have seen all or part of that movie dozens of times by now. it's full of great scenes both hilarious and touching. I really like this scene because it's the sort of grand romantic gesture I would make if I had the balls and the creativity to do it. and, it almost always makes me cry because I know all too well the feeling of unrequited love....

cool. there are really several scenes from the movie that stand out to me... I love the scenes with colin firth and his housekeeper, and the scenes with billy mack crack me up, especially the radio interview.

"so if you believe in the spirit of christmas like your uncle billy does, buy my festering turd of a record!"

Great Thread

possibly the greatest fight scene and most revolutionary is the dojo scene from the first matrix..people were blown away by it.

the last scene of powder always makes me cry

I am just listing them as I think of them, lol. Not in any order of importance. Another one that just hit me....

The scene in Singles, that I always think of when I see Jeremy Piven. Where he is running the check out at the grocery store, and he recognizes Campbell Scott as a DJ from college. Keeps going on and on about it when Campbell is trying to buy a pregnancy test for his girlfriend. I will forever hear Piven singing "What's so funny bout peace, peace, peace..." every time I see him, lol.

Oh, and also the flashback Campbell has of being told about sex ed by a dr, and then trying to retell it to his buddies on the playground, saying that spam squirts out a man's penis. LOL! :D

what a waste when people be throwing away a perfectly good white boy....

Thats one of my favourites too, the awesome race between the Porsche 911 and the AC Cobra.

One of my others is the scene from Aliens, where the Queen Alien is trying to get at the little girl who is hiding under the access panels in the floor, then Ripley comes in wearing the cargo loading exo-skeleton and shouts "get away from her you Bitch!"

Another is from Shaun Of the Dead, which to be honest has so many class scenes its hard to choose, theres the "did he just say bass?" line or the "youve got red on you", but probably my overall favourite from the movie is actually from the extra scenes bit on the DVD, in one scene they replace every fuck with funk to allow it to be shown on some airlines, and this particular scene had about 20 funks in a couple of minutes!! :D

Just so many films, too little time.... :D

Man! I was just thinking about how much I love Shaun of the Dead! That movie is so hilarious. I honestly don't know what I think is the best part...it is all so good. I love when he tries to convince his mom that his stepdad used to touch him so she'll go away with them, lol. And when Ed farts and all he says is "I'm sorry Shaun." LOL...omg, I have to see that again.

Mark.... yep that race was awesome.... loved it!! I also like the bit where they storm the shop and order two packs of tropical fruit bubbleicious!! lol :D

Shaun of the Dead!!! Love you even more now foof... if that were possible. I didn't think that film's humour would cross the Atlandtic very well. I'm really pleased you like it. One of my favourites..... the best bit for me is where they are deciding which vinyl to throw at the zombies..... michael jackson? yep... lol :D

Another favourite scene of mine is the end of The Killing Fields where Sam Waterson's character and Dith Pran finally reunite after the latter's incarceration in Cambodia. That gets me every time too... especially because it happened for real. It's even sadder because the actor (Hang S Nor) went through it himself and he was cruelly murdered on his doorstep a few years ago. :(

And for sheer terror, the scene in The Shining (another favourite of mine) where Shelly Duval finds Jack's script, only to find he's written "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy" over and over and over again.

More to follow I'm sure. :)

I have no idea why I love this scene.. maybe its because I think Jeff Goldblum is sexy as hell... Its the scene in Independence Day where Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum are in space trying to save the day and Will Smith keeps saying,"Not until the fat lady sings" And Jeff Goldblum tells him,"Enough about the fat lady! You are obessed with the fat lady!" Cracks me up every time.

There are so many faves for me!

"I'm walking here!!" from "Midnight Cowboy".

"You slut!" from "Tootsie" (spoken brilliantly by Bill Murray).

Just watching actors "act" with their expressions: Anthony Hopkins (in practically every movie he's done!); Tom Hanks in "Philadelphia"; Meryl Streep in "Sophie's Choice".
