he did a shorty [can't remember which publication it's in] where two guys are feuding and one gets the other trapped in a portable toilet [as per construction sites].

The Stand is my favorite. I’ve read it 3 times through the years and it ages well. 11-22-63 is a great read. For short stories/novellas, The Body and Shawshank are outstanding as is The Green Mile.

I’m envious of SK. He has a sick, twisted mind and makes millions from it!
yep, the stand is the pinnacle. loved it. found it by chance on the Uganda on the way back from the Falklands.

I've had to stop reading Fairytale atm.
Lost me reading glasses.

How do you like it so far? And where have you left off?
I'm liking it very much so far. I started reading it while reading another book so I'm only part way through chapter 3.

I've found my glasses and finished the other book today so will be making better headway.

I'm at the bit where the old guy is in hospital with a broken leg and he's looking after the dog.

Ooooooo you are in for so much fun!

Oh, I can relate to this thread!

The first SK book I ever read was 'IT' when I was 16 and I was hooked.

The last book I read was 'The Institute' in the summer and I have 'Billy Summers' and 'Fairy Tale' waiting on my pile.

I've also listened to the audiobook of his 'On Writing' which was a fantastic listen, both as a glimpse into his life and his approach to writing. Highly recommend to anyone who dabbles in writing.

Welcome! Glad you found our spooky reading corner! I read his book On Writing a few years back and really enjoyed getting into his thought process and history of how he approaches writing. At the time I was writing a lot and that book was very motivating to keep at it.

I only found it on Audible earlier this year, I forget it's been around as a physical book for years now haha! I loved listening to it, listening to his own voice recalling it all.

There's a shop in my town called Needful Things and I was thoroughly disappointed that they didn't have a copy of the book and some props from the story in the window. :ROFLMAO:

One of his short stories was about a post apocalyptic world where everyone was wiped out by the flu. Very eerie.
Shawshank Redemption...could never pick a favorite, but Kingdom Hospital; I mean, DR.HOOK?!?!
LMAO! brilliant!

How dare they not have anything to do with the book! I'd feel the same way! 🤣

_____
I finished reading Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill last night. He is a gifted writer like his dad, I was hooked at the beginning of the book. If you like a good ghost story I would recommend this. There were a few twists that I didn't anticipate - I love it when that happens! 😁 I'll also admit that since I've finished it, I tend to look down the hallway at night in the dark thinking I'll see a ghost standing there. It definitely got to me!

Now that I've finished that book I'm starting Mr. Mercedes.

I finished Duma Key an hour ago. Obviously it was fucking amazing. And I got the goosies and almost cried cuz I don’t know what I’m gonna do with the rest of my life now that I’m done. He’s been doing g this to me since the 90s

I think 'IT' is the only one of his I've ever read. And I read it in 9th grade, I think. After seeing the original movie.

I have 'The Dark Half' but I don't think I ever got around to starting it.

To be honest, I stopped reading for fun after junior high, I think.

I've started Mr. Mercedes and holy fuck, it gets going in chapter one. There is one line that I can't get out of my head and it's from the first letter Hodges receives.. It's just so descriptive, and boy does it cause a visceral reaction..
"Strawberry jam in a sleeping bag..." Good grief.
