Oh I have always loved this quote... Hits close to my heart... Makes me smile as I think about my sweet father -in- law who is blind and partially deaf... And he is filled with such spiritual light and is the kindest person I know... Despite all his hurdles in life he is always happy... My inspiration

Yesterday was such a strange one.. I had the most irreverent patient who probably won't live past the year. It's a tricky one to navigate.. I can't stand your behavior vs. How horrific it must be to hear that you're dying.
How truly paralyzing.
It always leaves me a little unsettled.. not to the point of crazy.. but a little off

And then, this morning, I came here
And someone had shared a small story
And someone had reached out to connect
And I'm brought back to my body in that way that makes you feel like you can live your own life.. and appreciate your own life.. and be willing to share that life with others

I am reading today's newspaper. None of the news is good. I am not reading between the lines when I state that the world is steadily becoming a less compassionate place. Nations are acting out of fear. It's not just the Brexit you see, it's elsewhere and growing. If there was ever a time to show compassion to your fellow man, it's now.

Good morning. I can get out of the loop politically. It's a side effect of working for essentially every waking moment for days at a time without ready access to television. Sometimes I catch up and am blindsided.. Other times I am blissful in my ignorance and glad that I have a little corner of the world.. But it's not really an isolated world anymore and I find that I am impacted more and more by the actions of others. I guess that I should try to find the blessing in that.

Heading back to work today in my white superhero costume.. It's a sad group. One man, I already know, will never go home again. One woman is faced with a kind of family violence that I will never understand. Someone will receive a diagnosis that will change his life.
It's the kind of day where hugs and kisses might be the best medicine I can offer.

I've been really limited on what I can do the past few months since life has been injury, surgery, recovery....
BUT
Saturday I got to help out one of my friends who has her 90 year old Mom she takes care of. There is a huge Gay pride parade here in St Pete ... one of the largest in the country I guess. Anyway this friend wanted to go & take a new girl friend from on line with her. They'd never met in person before so I spent 7 hours hanging out in AC with Mom watching a double header Rays / Orioles making fun of Evan Longoria and eating pizza. Her mom is such a nice lady. She forgets some things so about once every couple hours I answer yes it's Saturday, Nope I live near the Senior Center. No big deal for such a sweet lady.

and apparently things went well since I just opened Facebook and my friend is suddenly posting that she's in a relationship now. I'm glad I could help cause she's been really lonely for a long while.
