Personally, I like the mix here. Granted, there are a very few whose views I could do without, but that's all part of the community.

Hmmm, I tried it once and still saw the persons name. It's just that what they wrote was blocked out. Maybe I should figure that out. Naw, I'd rather ignore them in my head.

Unfortunately for me and the way I see things, no.

I still see their threads.

It might depend on the skin or the options you use.

What skin do you use? I use Aria Chlorophyll, and I do not see threads started by anyone on my ignore list. I do see their names in the "last response" line, and if they're in a thread I'm reading, it says that so-and-so's post is blocked and would I like to view it or take them off the list?

What skin do you use? I use Aria Chlorophyll, and I do not see threads started by anyone on my ignore list. I do see their names in the "last response" line, and if they're in a thread I'm reading, it says that so-and-so's post is blocked and would I like to view it or take them off the list?

Pretty sure it's just the default, I never customized anything, have no idea where to customize stuff, and I have no idea to even find out what skin I'm using.

Same here. I haven't changed anything, but my ignored people are no longer showing up and neither are their threads. Yay, me!

If you're logged in, you won't see 'em. If you're not, you will, as Lit doesn't know you're ignoring them. At least, I think so, as I don't actually have anyone on ignore at the moment.

I don't put anyone on ignore whose views I don't agree with; for them, I usually use "manual ignore" - that it, I just don't read their posts, or enter into conversations with them. I'm allergic to politics right now anyway - I'm so emotional about my opinions, I just get pissed off when people are what I consider "wrong", and I don't want to add that negativity to my life.

Lately, I've put people on ignore who just annoy me with their whining or bad punctuation or whatever minor sin they commit. I'm sure nobody cares

I like to know what everyone is saying, so that I can answer questions and sound more informed. "You prefer this, but I think you're an idiot because it doesn't work like this it works like that." I can't do that if I don't know what they said in the first place.

And I too wonder if anyone has me on ignore. I'm really too self conscious...

I've only got one person on ignore - their sig is REALLY annoying and huge. They're rarely about and I've never seen a post from them that had a point, so the annoyance factor of the signature outweighed the chat value.

I can't see anyone's sigs. Maybe it's how I have my settings.

yeah, sadly-- that's a factor in one on my list.

And I should say that, if you use Firefox-- there is a web developer's tools addon you can get. One of the things you can tell it to do is suppress images; rightclick on the image and it will ask you if you want to suppress images from that URL. Because of the size and... sparkle... of so many sig images I have an awful lot of photobucket subdomains disabled...
