I've been thinking about coddle all day. I'm googling up a recipe now.

Semithink- soup with potatoes. Either ham or sausages. Vegtables to own pref.
Leave for a couple of hours on low simmer.
Sorted.

While use of the black stuff as only a grease to help it down ......

Oh, you were being literal. The quotes around the word threw me. The recipe I saw online only mentioned water; I wouldn't have had time to make any stock anyway.

Helping it down should be no problem. I'm starting with bottle as my appetizer.
