In fairness to the gubbmint, that has a lot more to do with the privatization of the prison system than the government.

ehhh I wouldn't go that far.

What we have is only possible because the two decided they both profit nicely from the arrangement.

I think the fairest assessment of the arrangement is that they are both getting some big money (private prisons largely owned by staunch GOP supporters and contributors) and big power (the government in any number of it's infinite forms) and the current situation is ONLY possible with these two groups giving the green light and then working it for all they can.

I think it's only fair to blame both groups/sides of this....mind you this particular LOVELY aspect of the US gov is largely republican owned/driven.

Oh, I'm sure they both get paid. I just think in this case the government is the lesser of two evils. I imagine if we stopped letting them make money off it and made holding prisoners expensive shit would change.
