They stay up all year, Sweet, until next October, when sign ups begin again.

Just reached 32, 069 words.

it's like pushing string up a hill.

Steve, Pops gave you some bloody good advice. Try not to think about what you're writing and just go with it. Let the story unfold on its own, that's why I attempt to do anyway.

You are very close to my own word count, and we can both do it. Come on, PMA!

Not sure I will be able to finish with 50000 as RL is interfering major.
But I will try and if I can't I will be proud anyway.
I found out I can do a lot more writing by just sitting down every day.
And if not this year, next year will have me do it, dammit!

Hahaha, I passed my first test with attending 2 out of the 8 classes. The mark is meager, but enough.

That's the spirit! Give it your best shot, and even if you don't quite make it, you should be extremely proud of yourself.

Don't give up, you might surprise yourself and have one really good session. I'm gonna pull an all-nighter, if need be.

Well done on the test!

There's no way in hell I am even going to come close (or even make it halfway at this point). I just can't make myself write... and whenever I do manage to open it up, I can't think of a damned thing because all I can hear are the kids whining and hollering. <sigh>

I feel for you, Crim. I find it almost impossible to write when my girls are around.

Be proud that you even gave it a shot, though, hon.

I probably won't make the deadline, but I'm still plodding on, and I promised a certain someone I'd finish the story, even if it wasn't done at deadline.

Here's another little exerpt:

Very good excerpt, Cloudy!

Keep at it, don't say "probably won't" think "probably will". That way you just might. But, good attitude. At the end of the day, it matters not if you are actually classed as a winnder within the rules of NaNoWriMo, when you complete the novel anyway, you will be a winner to everyone.

What a day... I spent the first half working on mum's present, and the half in bed, moaning. Unfortunately, it wasn't out of pleasure, but out of headache.
I didn't have any coffee this morning, and when I don't drink coffee in the morning, I get a migraine in the afternon. I felt nauseous(sp?), I prayed I'd be able to keep the pain killer down. I found a sleeping mask I got from Hubby once, drenched it in cold water, and laid down with all the lights out - for once, I was GLAD that it gets pitch black outside at 4pm up here! Got myself 7 hours of sleep, and now it's 1am, and I'm tired but awake.
I'll write a little, to see if it will make me fall asleep over the pages, like it usually does.

Does anyone have a good recipe for getting ink stains out of your skin?

*hugs*

I admire your spirit and determination, no matter what gets thrown in your way. Go girl, you CAN do it!!

Hey Steve, if you dip the string in wax, it pushes up hill quite easily. Same with writing, if you're bogged down, take off the blinkers and a bit of lateral thinking gets it going again quite often mate... go man you can do it.

Yes I know you're all going to say, "Ok for you, you've finished", but I haven't, I'm on a roll still, sending myself daft with it actually, like a bloody drug we had at that party. This is the last word count you're getting cos I don't want to seem to be rubbing it in 56,340'ish... But I'm just an old duffer with a head full of shit though so it's nothing to go on.

Come on you lot, keep at it, never mind if you don't make the 50 grand, get as close as you can, it's a bloody good writing excerise, and you're all hero's / hero'esses for trying in the first place even if you don't make it to the full whack.

Pops, you are brilliant, and way too humble for your own good.

Thanks, from me, for all the words of wisdom and wonderful encouragement you've given everyone.

You are still having bags of fun with your novel, and that's not only awesome, it's what it's all about.

I knew I couldn't, so didn't even start.

Those who are on schedule are super-heroes.

Those who aren't are heroes anyway.

Stick with it - I'm cheering you all on!

Thanks, Eff. Your words are always appreciated.

I know how you feel. This'll be two years straight, but at least I got something moving fairly well this year. Stuck between 17-18,000 words. RL is giving me a bit too much confusion right now to get my head straight enough to really get back into it, especially enough to make the last 32-33,000.

GL, everyone.

Q_C

As you said, "...at least I got something moving fairly well this year." You've made a bloody good start on a vovel and are well into it. How many can say that?

Thanks.

Just wanted to say, I've finished, well over that 50,000 mark, actually it's about 75,000 and I'm still not completely done with it. When it's done I think I'll post just the beginning here on lit and see how well it's received.

LOL I actually wish they had these about four times a year. I could do all the ideas I'm too lazy to work on the rest of the time.

On a sadder note I think I may stop writing erotica. I haven't come to a complete decision yet but I'm leaning that way. I have a few ideas left to put down and then I think I'm going to retire or reinvent with the name I don't normally write under. Sometimes being one person seems so limiting on here. Now if there is an idea I want do later I can still do it without any expectations.

Thanks Tatelou, you might not realize it but you've been a bright spot of inspiration for my story.

WOW! That's awesome, MV. Congrats!! :nana:

I can't believe I didn't add you to the table before, but I have now. :D

I feel exactly the same way, I could also do with having a NaNo four times a year. Writing a novel this way, with so many others, just comes so much easier than trying to mimic the conditions and say to myself, "Right, I'm gonna carry on writing at least 2,000 words per day." I do try, but it never feels the same.

I hope you come to the right decision for you, with regard to whether or not you're gonna carry on writing erotica. All the best, whatever you decide to do.

Thank YOU, being told something like that means a hell of a lot to me.

Lou

woo hoo for MV!

Ok this is going to sound a little weird especially as I'm writing a romance but anyway I need to know some info so if anyone knows or can find out for me it's be much appreiciated :)

Ok so we have a character who spent a long time in prison over throtling her son nigh on to death (he survived) when he was a little baby. New evidence ocmes to light that it wasn't here but the baby's father who commited the crime.

My question is can the father now be tried and convicted for the same crime the mother has already done the time for?

Thanks to anyone who can help :)

Yep, he sure can!

There would have to be an appeals process on her part first (I believe), red tape more than anything. Her conviction would get quashed, because of the new evidence, she'd get a pardon, and while all this was going on, he'd be arrested and a trial date set.

There was a law that stated the same person couldn't be tried for the same crime twice (if found innocent first time around), but I think even that law has been changed now.

There is also a law that states a husband or wife cannot be forced to give evidence against their spouse, but I think that's rather archaic now.

Lou :rose:

Aww thanks muchly Lou  that gives me all the info I need and more! right back to the writing

(around 44 000 as an ill child and husband prevented much being written yesterday)

EL,

Just to reiterate what Lou said. There would need to be new evidence to allow the wife's conviction to be quashed, or clear indication that the evidence previously used was "unsafe" - e.g. forensic evidence was tampered with, or DNA now proves innocence, etc.

The rule you're thinking of is "double jeopardy" - you can't be tried for a crime for which you've already been tried. So your wife would be in the clear. Nothing to stop the husband being tried, once the wife's conviction is quashed by the Appeal Court.

The government is considering removing double jeopardy for some crimes but this is dangerous and stupid and wrong (don't get me started!).

I'm stuck on a piece of erotica! After 20 erotic stories on Lit, I can't write a sex scene in a novel. How very Alanis Morisette.

Stuck huh?
Alanis Morisette and sex?
I'm wondering.

:D

Steve w -Thanks for the input. I don't know wther there would be enough evidence...it's an uncovered eye witness but I guess that isn't exactly rock solid evidence. I mean the guy in the story assaults the mian character too so the police get involved for that I was just wondering where he would stand on this old crime. I think I've got it pictured in my head now anyway....

ooh whilst I'm here

45 549

and just entering the closest thing to a sex scene i'm gonna get in my romance novel -woo hoo! :D

Football is on in just under an hour so I reckon another thousand or so then it'll be left till tommorrow probably :)

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'm going to try to add more before the deadline. I know without major loss of sleep, I have no hope of hitting the 50k, but I can at least try to get my word count higher before the end of the month.

Hey Crim,

So long as you can work on the idea you got for NaNo, it's still worth it.

I could not have done all my writing with little kids running around.

I do?

I just keep doubting that it will be a readable story once it's finished.

Actually, it is finished. Today school consisted of watching two movies I've already seen, so I borrowed a computer instead and wrote NaNo for five solid hours. Add to that three more hours after dinner, and guess what?

53 958 words!

:nana:

And a  to all of you for cheering and nagging. Plus an extra  for Lou for staring this thread. It's been a pain in the rear end, but damn fun.

Of course, 38 500 of those words will be wipe deleted as soon as I get this verified with the NaNo scripts... then I'll see if I should go on and write the REAL story I intended to from what's left.
