Movie role Dom types.

Colin Firth as artist Vermeer in Girl with a Pearl Earring

Rupert Everett and Catherine Deneuve are tied in the original Dangerous Liasons

Dominique Swain in Lolita

(Yeah, I know I included some females in my list, but they were too awesome not to recieve an honorable mention.)

Oooh, Christopher Walken is cre-epy. *shivers*

That's the only movie star I was ever jealous of. My ex told me "If I ever meet him, I'm going to be blowing him in the bathroom within 15 minutes of shaking his hand" and I believed her.

I'm assuming he wouldn't have anything to say about this? LOL

Sorry, just have a mental picture of a chick meeting him, shaking his hand. He tries to pull back his hand, but she won't let go. Against his will she strong arms him into the bathroom, and into a stall . . . *giggles* Poor Christopher.

Picture all that done with feminine wiles and shy downcast eyes instead of actual physical force and you'll have my ex in a nutshell.

Aaah, I see. So is she your ex because of this? Or was she your present because of this?

I once told my ex that I wouldn't do him because I was saving myself for Christopher Walken...so that statement kinda threw me off.

Still can't think of a better one than David Bowie's character, though.

Super write-up, Killishandra! You've convinced me to watch it. :)

Another very hot "flawed dom" type flick, which I mention on here a lot in the movie threads because it's so damn good, is Closet Land. Lots of mindgames, lots of subtle power and emotional play going on in a very unsubtle (political torture) setting. It can be hard to find (not as hard as Marquis's Question of Consent, though) but well worth the search--at least for submissive women. :)

I like both of those, but my new favorite has to be The Phantom of the Opera in the movie of the same name.

Is there more than one version of this movie out? If so, which one do you recommend?

Viggo Mortensen as Lucifer in The Prophesy
George Clooney as Seth Gecko in From Dusk till Dawn
Ben Mendelsohn as Jerry in True Love and Chaos
Antonio Banderas as Ricky in Tie me up Tie me down
Christopher Walken ...period...

Can you recommend just one of Walken's for someone unfamiliar with him?

What are all of you people doing up at 2 or 3 in the morning? :/

The Phantom of the Opera

I don't know if you're into musicals, but I've been singing songs from this movie in the shower since I saw it.

They made their versions of the songs too catchy, the on stage version= WAY BETTER. The added beat the the actual Phantom of the Opera song was pretty cool. But oh well. The phantom wasn't as good of a singer as he should have been :( he's supposed to be like, a musical genius, not a member of the chorus at some musical dinner theater. That part could have been WAY better cast. Oh well.

You know, I hate to say so, becuase I really loved the movie, but I have to agree with you about the guy who played the phantom. Not as much of an impact as I would've liked. He wasn't famous, I don't see why they couldn't have gotten someone better.

The actress they casted for Christine was exceptional however. Absolutely gorgeous, amazing voice and absolutely oozing old world subbie charm.

I wasn't aware they changed the score, but I'm not terribly surprised.

Has anyone mentioned Nicolas Cage as Castor Troy in Face Off? That was a Dom character if I've ever seen one.

What about Yule Brenner in "The King and I"?

I remember Yul Brenner as the King being pretty maleable on the inside. He fell in love with a woman who was NOT submissive, after having an infinite supply of nubile little subs at his command. Personally, I think this character was a closet sub in a Dom job, covering up as best he could...

(Having been a closet sub in a Dom job, I think I may have some authority on the subject! ;) )

Not sure if she was a Domme or just a manipulative little diva bitch, but she sure had Jeremy Iron's Humbert Humbert eating out of her hand. He was certainly submissive, in any case.

In a similar vein, consider Christina Ricci in The Opposite of Sex.

You think doms aren't malleable on the inside? I think that _she_ was the closet sub. But, YMMV, of course.

He's actually been in lots of stuff and has a pretty varied portfolio but the only two parts that I can get to come to mind right now are a bit part in Pulp Fiction and as the weirdo director in America's Sweethearts.

Edited to add: A quick google came up with this site which seems to have a pretty comprehensive list of movies he's been in. http://www.the-numbers.com/people/CWALK.html
