New Poll Numbers!

President Trump’s job approval rating is the highest it’s been in two years, boosted by voter optimism about the economy, according to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey....

Trump appears to be getting a lift from the economy, with a record 62 percent approving of his approach to employment and 59 percent approving of his handling of the economy.

J. Easley, Trump's approval rating hits highest point in two years, The Hill (May 31, 2019). It is worth noting that both Harvard CAPS and Harris have demonstrably oversampled Democrats in their past polling. That's why Harris was so wrong about 2016.
Still below 50%. Keep polishing the turd.

Remember how LOW Donald Trump's approval numbers were back in October of 2016, when all of the polls were confidently predicting a Hillary Clinton landslide victory? His ratings were WAY worse than they are now! But he STILL ended-up winning where it counted, didn't he?

And remember the non-stop GREAT news coverage that President Obama was getting in 2010? There was NOBODY predicting that his Democratic Party would suffer a humiliating loss of 63-House & 6-Senate seats in that November's elections? (All of those old white incumbent Democrats losing their seats!)

But it's nice to see that at least SOME of you guys STILL believe in the validity of polls! I'm guessing that you both probably still get your news from CNN (or MSNBC)? For over two years they told us: "Just wait until the Mueller Report comes out!" Well, it's out, and Trump is still the president!

Trump's approval rating on the economy is pretty good. However, he is personally disliked, even despised, by a majority of the population. There are several reasons
for this, mostly having little to do with his accomplishments or lack of same as POTUS.

And he's likely to remain POTUS FOR ALMOST SIX MORE YEARS.

President Nixon wasn't particularly well-liked in 1972, but because the Democratic Party chose to nominate a neo-socialist liberal candidate against him (George McGovern), Nixon won a massive 49-state landslide that November. Like Nixon, Trump faces a Democratic Party (and national media) anxious to impeach him, but UNLIKE Nixon, Trump has survived the Mueller Report, leaving the Democrats completely incapable of coming up with enough votes to remove him from office!

"And he's likely to remain POTUS FOR ALMOST SIX MORE YEARS."

Absolutely right! Senator Bernie Sanders actually makes Senator George McGovern look like a FORMIDABLE challenger in comparison, while former V.P. Joe Biden increasingly looks like the reincarnation of former V.P. Walter Mondale (who ALSO lost 49-states when he tried to run for president in 1984!)

You mean back when he wasn't president? While that Obama guy was president? The one with the "terrible" economy?

Let's see it looks it looks like Obama's approval was between 53 and 55% for all of October 2016.

So what's this new Trump number? Ah found it: That's the case even as support for impeachment rose slightly from 37% last month to 41% now. Oh that's the support of impeachment! My bad.

dan_c00000 writes: "You mean back when he wasn't president? While that Obama guy was president? The one with the "terrible" economy?"

Excellent observation, Dan!

I KNEW that Donald Trump was going to win in 2016 when that Obama guy (and his wife Michelle) decided to hit the campaign trail for Mrs. Clinton! They did NOT help her win any of those swing-states they campaigned in, did they? Barack was Hillary's "Kryptonite," but she didn't realize it until it was too late!

I especially remember one network news correspondent calling Michelle Obama "Hillary's Secret Weapon" out on the campaign trail - except that aren't secret weapons supposed to HELP your side win? Michelle certainly didn't do that, did she?

President Obama is one of only THREE incumbent American presidents to run for re-election this past half-century and win FEWER popular votes the second time around! The other two are Jimmy Carter (who lost) and George H.W. Bush (who also lost!) But at least Carter & Bush can both point to serious third-party contenders taking away votes from them (John Anderson in 1980 & Ross Perot in 1992), while Obama had none of that!

Yet Barack finished with over three-&-a-half million FEWER votes in 2012 than he'd carried in 2008! WHERE DID THEY ALL GO?

Most of them stayed home, dumbass. Maybe you could, you know, look things up once in a while.

Thanks racist! Say why don't you address the rest of my post? If the economy is so good now how come Trump's numbers are so bad?

phrodeau writes: "Most of them stayed home, dumbass. Maybe you could, you know, look things up once in a while."

Yes, phrodeau - by 2012, President Obama's popularity was already in free-fall. Millions of Obama voters who had loyally supported him in 2008 were no longer interested in his ongoing lies & deceptions. By 2016, Hillary Clinton should have realized that Barack's campaigning for her wasn't going to help!

You & I both see that, but apparently none of the dumbasses working on Mrs. Clinton's campaign recognized the obvious signs. Obama's disastrous presidency pretty much destroyed any hopes of her carrying any of those swing states she needed so badly.

dan_c00000 whines: "Thanks racist! Say why don't you address the rest of my post? If the economy is so good now how come Trump's numbers are so bad?"

I didn't address your blatantly racist comments, Dan, because you mock black & hispanic Americans. Seriously, you need to tone it down and STOP judging people by the color of their skin! President Trump has already reduced black unemployment rates to their lowest levels in U.S. history, and just because this bothers you doesn't mean that it's right for you to treat darker-skinned Americans with contempt!

Which old white man will YOU be supporting in the 2020 Democratic Party's presidential race: Biden or Bernie? I'll bet money your vote will go to one of those two, as keeping the white race in power is all you've ever really cared about, isn't it?

That can't be right. You see, there eleven states in the South (assuming we define it as the states of the former Confederacy), and some know-it-all in here keeps telling anyone who will listen that Jimmy Carter was the first Democrat to lose the South. Since McGovern was the nominee before Carter, he must have won the South, which means he must have carried at least eleven states (or, even if we wanted to say just a majority of the South, at least six). We really ought to find that history expert and ask him to explain how that works.

Oh, wait...it was you, Dumpington. Care to explain? :D

And it's still not as high as Obama's "worst" of 42.5%. Poor dawn....

The survey found that 48 percent approve of the job Trump is doing.... That’s up from 45 percent approval in March. The last time the president’s job approval rating reached 48 percent in the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey was in June of 2017.

J. Easley, Trump's approval rating hits highest point in two years, The Hill (May 31, 2019).

Poor dan_c00000, he still can't handle basic mathematics.

Piss-poor, no matter how you slice it.

Which old white man

Wow dump what a shockingly racist, homophobic, transphobic, and anti-Semitic post! Even for you that was a bit much. I'm shocked you didn't do it under your dawn alt.

Anyway, racist dump didn't answer my question so I'll ask it again: Why do you support Trump? Is it because he hates black and jews as much as you do? Or is because you like it when he kills babies in Yemen?

YDB95 writes: "...some know-it-all in here keeps telling anyone who will listen that Jimmy Carter was the first Democrat to lose the South. Since McGovern was the nominee before Carter, he must have won the South..."

In 1972 the American south was still dominated by the Democratic Party (as it had been since the end of Recontruction, one-hundred years earlier!) But in that year, the Democrats nominated Senator George McGovern as their presidential candidate.

What was George McGovern like? Think of Beto, Kamala, & Buttigieg all rolled-into-one un-electable liberal mess, with a large dose of Bernie Sanders added to the mix! NOBODY is going to vote for a candidate like that (at least, nobody outside of the District of Columbia & Massachusetts!)

Nixon landslided McGovern EVERYWHERE, but the Democrats continued winning statewide offices throughout the south, and when Georgia governor Jimmy Carter won the Democratic Party's 1976 presidential nomination, the entire region snapped-back & overwhelmingly supported him vs. Republican Gerald Ford!

But when Ronald Reagan landslided President Carter four years later (1980), it was the END of Democratic Party hegemony in the American south, as the Republicans not only dominated presidential politics from that point on, but began cleaning-up in House & Senate races throughout that region, as well - which they continue to do to this very day! Jimmy Carter was the last Dem to be supported in the south, and the first Dem to be completely abandoned!

dan_c00000 writes: "Wow dump what a shockingly racist, homophobic, transphobic, and anti-Semitic post! Even for you that was a bit much. I'm shocked you didn't do it under your dawn alt."

I repeat the question, Dan - WHICH old white man do you support for the 2020 Democratic Party's presidential nomination: Biden or Bernie? You KNOW you're going to end up supporting one of them - I'm simply asking WHICH ONE?

"Why do you support Trump? Is it because he hates black and jews as much as you do? Or is because you like it when he kills babies in Yemen?"

No, Dan - if Trump hated blacks & Jews I would NOT support him! I like him because he understands basic everyday economics and knows how to create jobs & prosperity. I like him because he also understands the need for border security, including opposing those (Democratic Party-run) sanctuary cities that openly flaunt U.S. immigration laws! I especially appreciate this president's support for the nation of Israel, including moving our embassy to Jerusalem (which even YOU applauded!) I like how President Trump aggressively went after ISIS in places like Iraq, Syria, & Yemen! I also really like this president's U.S. Supreme Court picks, and can't wait until he names a replacement for justice Ruth Bader-Ginsberg (who will hopefully be retiring soon!) I could continue on & on, but you get the general idea.

Jimmy Carter was the last Dem to be supported in the south, and the first Dem to be completely abandoned!

You're moving the goalposts. In the past, you have always said Carter was "the first Democrat to lose the South". Which just isn't true, as even you acknowledged here (which is no doubt why you're now pretending to have said something rather different).

dan_c00000 writes: "Wow dump what a shockingly racist, homophobic, transphobic, and anti-Semitic post! Even for you that was a bit much. I'm shocked you didn't do it under your dawn alt."

I'm not Dan, but I'm supporting Elizabeth Warren. Certainly I'll gladly vote for Sanders or Biden if either of them ends up with the nomination (which I don't think they will).

No, Dan - if Trump hated blacks & Jews I would NOT support him! I like him because he understands basic everyday economics and knows how to create jobs & prosperity.

You don't really believe this stuff, do you? I find your politics repulsive, but I find it hard to believe you could really be stupid enough to believe Trump "understands basic everyday economics" or especially that he "knows how to create jobs". The man literally may well have lost more money in one decade than anyone else alive has lost in hir lifetime!

YDB95 writes: "In the past, you have always said Carter was "the first Democrat to lose the South"."

When President Nixon swept the south in '72, it was because the Democratic Party had nominated a TRULY HORRIBLE candidate to represent their party (South Dakota U.S. Senator George McGovern), who lost badly in every region of our nation, excepting only D.C. & Massachusetts! Nixon even carried ultra-liberal Minnesota! But the American south REMAINED a Democratic Party stronghold at the state & local level!

And in 1976, the south went heavily for Democratic Party candidate Jimmy Carter, because the Georgia governor represented their party of choice - the Democrats! But all of that was about to permananetly change, as just four years later (in 1980) California Governor Ronald Reagan DESTROYED President Carter in his own backyard, sweeping the entire region except for Carter's home state of Georgia! in '88, V.P. Bush also swept the south! And in '92 & '96, when the Democrats ran TWO white southerners (Clinton & Gore) they continued to lose the south, and would lose it AGAIN in 2000, '04, '08, '12, and '16!

"I'm not Dan, but I'm supporting Elizabeth Warren. Certainly I'll gladly vote for Sanders or Biden if either of them ends up with the nomination (which I don't think they will)."

If Liz Warren wins the nomination I will be truly shocked. Currently, it's the two old white guys (Biden & Bernie) sharing 51.8% of the Democrat vote, at least according to all of the most recent polling data. Liz is in a distant 3rd-place with 8.4% support... followed by Kamala at 7.3... Buttigieg at 6.0... Beto at 3.9... Booker at 2.7... and the rest of the field just barely registering.

"I find your politics repulsive..."

Of course you do. Modern political-progressives have NO DESIRE seeing anybody making America great again! They greatly preferred President Obama presiding over this country's steady decline, with more Americans than ever before receiving food stamps & government-funded abortions. The problem is, MOST of America never shared that vision, which is why we have President Trump in office today!

I find it hard to believe you could really be stupid enough to believe Trump "understands basic everyday economics" or especially that he "knows how to create jobs". The man literally may well have lost more money in one decade than anyone else alive has lost in hir lifetime!

Look, I find Trump kind of repulsive, too, but the current state of the economy establishes his economics credentials, and as a job creator. He did it by lowering taxes, decreasing overly burdensome and often unnecessary regulation, and by creating some sense of certainty for business. Only his trade wars are questionable.

As for your last point, declaring losses on taxes and actually losing money are very different things. There are many legitimate ways under recognized accounting practices to decrease or eliminate tax liability through declared losses while still earning money. These include depreciation of infrastructure, goodwill impairment, etc.

Look, I find Trump kind of repulsive

Wow racist joe what a shock! You'll gladly support a president who murders children, in this and other countries, so the rich can get richer. Good to know where your priorities lies.

I also noticed that racist dump/joe/dawn haven't bothered to mention that working class farmers have suffered under Trump. But hey some rich white guys got another Bugatti and some brown kids wound up dead. A win win as far the racists are concerned.

EmpressJosephine writes: "Look, I find Trump kind of repulsive, too, but the current state of the economy establishes his economics credentials, and as a job creator."

The modern Democratic Party doesn't care about Americans getting jobs.

Barack Obama earned the title of America's "food stamps president" because he WANTED people dependent on receiving federal government hand-outs. The more people dependent on government assistance, the more people voting for Democrats at election time!

The problem is, black voters don't LIKE living in housing projects and having Uncle Sam offering to take care of them, and they're beginning to LEAVE the Democratic Party in ever-increasing numbers! Hillary Clinton discovered this firsthand when her projected black voter turn-out in 2016 was INCREDIBLY SHALLOW in large urban areas like Philadelphia, Detroit, & Milwaukee - causing Mrs. Clinton to LOSE in previously blue-states like Pennsylvania. Michigan, & Wisconsin!

Trump understands jobs-creation, just as he ALSO understands negotiating new trade deals with nations like China! These are exactly the things that the American people WANT, but all that the Democrats can offer in response is more government entitlements.

Your opinion of George McGovern is irrelevant. Either Jimmy Carter was the first Democrat to lose the South or he wasn't. And here you admit that he wasn't, which directly contradicts what you have said so often before. (McGovern wasn't the first one to lose it either, incidentally.)

"I'm not Dan, but I'm supporting Elizabeth Warren. Certainly I'll gladly vote for Sanders or Biden if either of them ends up with the nomination (which I don't think they will)."

If Liz Warren wins the nomination I will be truly shocked.

I don't see why, when it's seven months to the first primary and most voters aren't really paying attention yet. Or could it be that you just really, really want Biden to be the nominee?

They greatly preferred President Obama presiding over this country's steady decline, with more Americans than ever before receiving food stamps & government-funded abortions.
Right, you really have your finger on what everybody to the left of Attila the Hun wants there, Dump.
