Obama: Voter ID Laws Do Not Stop 'our Folks' From Voting

Why wouldn't it be worth it.
The chance of getting caught is almost zero.
Probably about the same as getting a speeding ticket in the Daytona 500.

Actually its not, getting caught or just wasting your time would be rather easy.

This is different from the gun issue, which is impossible to truly regulate or control (even leaving aside the unconstitutionality of any kind of gun control laws), in that people at the polls have some means of limiting access by criminals and illegal voters in general to the polls.

Ignoring that we use common sense to get around the Constitution all the time it can be rewritten. The gun control issue is not impossible to regulate, we simply choose not to.

You're putting other people's words in my posts. Photo ID laws will only stop legal citizens from voting.

Those who for whatever reason don't have ID.

In Ms. if you do not have a picture ID they will come pick you up, take you to get an ID, give the ID to for free, and take you back home.
What reason would they have for not having an ID?
This has been into effect since voter ID was voted in. Would you want to guess how many people have taken them up on the offer?

None of that is true.

It's SOOOOO racist because minorities aren't allowed to get ID's anywhere in this country.....oh wait.......

Yea bunch of fucking loony left bullshit....Obama hit the nail on the fucking head and I hope they pass some voter ID laws...not because I think it will prevent voter fraud, but because it will piss off the left wing and I can laugh at their buuushit outrage.

If you can get out and vote you can get out and get a fucking ID....no excuses.

How is filling out a form, waiting for the mail, then filling out a ballot for $15 apiece "wasting your time?"

That's pretty good work if you know the right Democrats.

That was the going rate in Mississippi for "get out the vote." Do you think those who are paying the cash really care is you happen to commit voter fraud while getting them the votes they are paying for? Their hands are (relatively) clean.

I imagine it's more in LA.

That guy that turned in 200 absentee ballots in Phoenix performed labor worth $3000. Was he paid that? More? Less? Were all 200 from real, living people? Did the people fill out the ballots or did he? What's easier making up a name and waiting for the mail to be delivered, finding someone that is unlikely to know you used their name, or going door to door to find people that are not already registered, but are willing to be registered and have you come back and pick up their ballot?

I'll be damned. He got something right for a change.

During an interview with Al Sharpton on his "Keeping It Real," radio show President Barack Obama said voter ID laws do not stop African-Americans from voting which is in stark contraindication to the many cases being pursued by his Justice Department that argue regularly many of the laws are a veiled attempt to diminish African-American turnout.

Obama said, "Keep in mind most of these laws are not preventing the the overwelimgly majority of folks who don't vote from voting. Most people do have and ID. Most people do have a drivers license. Most people can get to the polls."
"But the bottom line is, if less then half of our folks vote, these laws aren't preventing the other half from not voting," he added.

He's not inaccurate but what he is saying is that these laws do prevent people from voting.

He's calling out the people who don't vote. Turn out from the left is usually lower than turn out on the right during midterms. 2010 was a good example of this. It's also a good example of how desperate the right is for a victory. Even a racist one.

Cite?

Show one study where voter ID was put into place and minority voting went down.

It doesn't "turn out" to be a surprise that the left doesn't vote in midterms. The left depends on it's demographic of politically unaware voters to make the difference.

It's like Carville said: he became a Democrat strategist because both parties have large pools of easily swayed uninformed voters but the Democratic pool is larger.

They vote when there is a rock star on the ballot and celebrities are telling them to vote and who for. Presidential campaigns generate a lot more ad buys and these voters who are voting for people not issues have to be persuaded that if they vote they are on the "winning team."

...kinda like politics on Lit. A handful of informed leftists and a gaggle of "me too!" posters.

Considering it racist to be in favor of voter ID is sheer idiocy.

To pretend that the intent of these "Block the Vote" initiative was NOT to keep #ThosePeople from voting is Queerbait-level willful ignorance.

If that was the intent in Indiana, it's been a miserable failure. It turns out black people are capable of obtaining ID. I know, it's hard to believe, but I assure you it's true.

vote

I went to the bank the other day to deposit some money into MY account. I filled my deposit slip and gave the money and deposit slip to the teller and she calmly asked for my ID. No problem I have a valid drivers license and valid passport. She completed the transaction, then I asked her why I needed an ID to deposit into MY account and she said is was bank policy to prevent fraud. WOW

Another scenario I went to a national chain restaurant for a cold beer after work sat down and order my beer. The bartender asked for my ID which I had no problem presenting. I ask why, and he said to make sure I was old enough (I have grey hairs in my goatee) I am 55 and that if the TABC Texas Alcholic Beverage Commission officers walked in all patrons must have an ID to be in the bar area. WOW

Third scenario I went to see my son in San Diego several weeks and flew U.S. Air and guess what they asked me for. WOW!

What is the big complaint about presenting an ID when you vote? Do you complain any other time. I don't care who you vote for just quit you bitching. Bobby.

Democrats get all squishy and upset when anybody tries to shut down their "vote early and vote often" mode of operation.

That's the point I made. If suppressing the black vote is the goal Democrats should be gleeful that Republicans are so unsuccessful at it. They should secretly hope the Republicans push through more such measures. Minority voting percentages goes up where ID is required.

Possibly because the Democrats have been stuffing the ballot boxes with white folks from nursing homes and graveyards.

Not only does minority voting go up it gives them more ammo for the whole false narrative that Democrats have been looking out for black folks for over 200 years, don'cha know!

There is one reason, and one reason only, that voter ID scares Democrats.

In some states you can register at the precinct and vote a provisional ballot on the day of the election.

You load up the church bus with box lunches and geriatrics and go on a road trip.

I would guess though that most voter fraud these days is in the absentee and early ballots. Some precincts it is 1/2 to a 1/3 of the ballots. No way to know, at the present about any of them.

If you cannot amble into a registrars office and pick up a ballot with an ID in person, no absentee ballot. You know when you will be out of town and most states have early voting available in person.

In the unlikely event that people are unable to wheel themselves in, you could set up ballot stations with ID checked in nursing homes and even offer a home visit for actual invalids.

Nope the Democrats want to steal elections the lazy way.

Anyone assuming black people are incapable of obtaining ID is undoubtedly a racist. Also, a fucking idiot.

Here in CT a State representative, Cristina Ayala, a democrat BTW, was arrested last month on 19 Counts of voter fraud. Seems she like to vote in various districts. Vote early and Vote often.

I think we are still waiting for some facts to back up your racist rantings.

You, more than anyone else, forfeited the right to ask for facts when you refused to accept published government figures about Obamacare enrollment.

None of that is true.

Let me guess.
You do not live in Ms.
Probably have never been in the state.
Do not know the laws of the state.
Know nothing about Ms. politics.

But you know for sure what I said is not the truth.
Why not do a little search on it before making a fool of yourself?
