Should I be offended that tek did not respond to my post answering his post concerning about where I live? Was he personally ignoring my response and thus being rude, or did he not see it, or did he conclude the conversation was over so there was no need to respond?

Just peeking after being otherwise occupied, and HEY my inbox is still empty! So should I be offended? Hurt? Nahhh...I come here to escape, not stand on a virtual soapbox and scream 'PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!!' While I try to answer the PMs and replies to thread-posts, sometimes I let one or two slip...it's not an intentional ignore and if I'm called on it I say so. Yes, a reply is polite, but there are a myriad of reasons why one may not be given...are you here to analyze EVERYone or just kick back and let a nekkid Tek buy everyone drinks and ramble on about the latest thought stuck in his little head...?

I vote the latter...I have my headphones on anyways...

There are SO many arguments for this one.

If you post on a game thread, some of them go so quickly that people post at the same time so people are going to get missed out. Plus in the advent of android, iPhone etc, sometimes their connection is not brilliant, I know I have posted from my phone and 6 posts have gone on in the time its taken my one post to go through. Also as someone else said, there are still a few out there on dial up steam driven internet, they have basically the same problem as the phone users on game threads.

BUT if its a relatively slow thread and a post is directed at someone then unless one of the parties involved has the other on iggy then sorry, I think there is no excuse for rudeness. Its simple manners, something you were brought up with. Someone directs a comment to me I will answer it. It may take me a while if I am just skipping on and off, but I will get back to the directed comment.

At the major risk of throwing the cat amongst the pigeons, how much of this do you think is a 'Brit thing'? Having travelled and had friends from the States travelling over here, the one comment that came up over and over is "Oh you British are SO polite". Is this true? Are we an extreme in manners?

I'll admit to sometimes getting annoyed when my posts get "skipped". However, peoples' lives do not (and should not) revolve around me and this site. I'm certain I've skipped people's posts as well - although I do try to ensure to respond to them if I notice them, it's possible to do so, and a response is still warranted.

And it's not just that- the server itself is slow at times (99% of the time).

As "for the whole comment pointed at me thing": I don't feel comfortable saying "go fuck yourself" or some more polite way of saying I don't give a crap about your comment. You're right, IRL, my upbringing and society's expectations would warrant a reply, but I still don't think it's "polite".

Alas, I can't speak for the politeness of Brits. I'm a fan of Vinny Jones.
