Frisbee golf on the island and a trip to the beach... bring a bike all you bums who don't want to walk! For me it would depend when in February also, wedding anniversary is the 14th and daughters 1st birthday is the 16th... I could probably make that be my anniversary gift though LOL

although frisbee gold would be damn cold in february

I'll come for sure as long as everything lines up and as long as people don't mind meeting my youngest if things don't line up lol

Okay, I was thinking near the end of Feb.. last weekend actually.. 24th-25th..

How's that for people?

my ex is suppose to have the kids that weekend, so as long as nothing comes up, that weekend is good for me.

Well I hope I can make that. Certainly enough warning.

Though from what I remember of toronto in the end of february, We're gonna have two or three feet of snow.

But hey lots of litsters to keep warm.

I hope I can make it! I go to UofT and I think our reading week is around that time.

It's so far away though. :(

not really that far away if you think about it though, especially in a situation like this with all the planning that will be needed...

I'd invite everyone here to my place (2 hours north of TO) but then those already in the city would have to travel :p

is there a certain meeting place you have in mind tolyk.. or anyone especially if we do meet in february

Naw, that's what I'm going to establish next..

Everyone who knows TO well, throw out some ideas :) Oh, and list off some reasonably priced hotels so I can try to book group ratings and stuff.

There's a ton of best westerns, Days inns and the like in the city. It all depends who's driving and how far into the city they want to drive. Some of the hotels out by the airport would probably give you a great rate. The Double Tree might as well. The problem is, they're out on the far side of the city and mean commuting in if you want to do something.

Conversly, there's a Days Inn (I belive) out by Maple Leaf Gardens (area) that was really nice and well priced the last time I was out there.

The big thing to consider is: Driving in TO SUCKS! So, it's something to weigh.

But, I don't mind doing a bit of foot work as well, trying to find something in a nice area that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg.

Well, any help you can give, I'd appreciate.. harder to look into it out of town, especially since I know nothing about TO..

As for driving.. I don't drive. Anyone up for car pooling? Or anyone know the bus lines well?

Were are you coming from Ego?

I used to have to take the buses all the time. The best part is, all bus lines go into the Bay\dundas subway station. It's a few blocks from my house and right beside the Eatons centre. It's a great place to meet up and relax for a little bit, waiting for everyone else. :D

Once we get closer, I don't mind helping out with the logisitics and planning of where to go, meet up, that sort of thing.

I'll be heading down from about 5 hours north via Greyhound, most likely.. I might be able to sucker one of my friends into a drive down to the city.. but not likely.

Well, I deffinatly think the Eatons Centre is the best place for a meet up right at the start. You can't miss it and once everyone's there, we can go for lunch\dinner

My daughter is a qualified sitter Muskoka..........next hurdle? LOL

I could see attending this, assuming I can swing it between school and work... and manage to convince the boy to go, too. Only thing... I don't drive in TO... so I'll be ditching the car in Burlington or Oakville and hopping on a bus or train... which would leave my nighlife options kinda slim, I think last train is somewhere around midnight.

February is a kind of miserable time for a get-together. Why not Turkey weekend? Most uni kids have that off.

The last GO trains in or out of the city stop at midnight unfortunatly - BUT, if you don't mind taking the 401 - head out to Yorkdale. It's free parking (or if you're worried, there is pay parking by the subway) and TTC it in. Last train north is at 1:38am, which is a bit better than midnight :D

I don't mind the 401... I just don't drive -in- Toronto. I'll dive on any highway, happily. I drove in Toronto once. I had a panic attack after about 5 minutes, and had to leave. It wasn't pleasant. Put me anywhere just off the highway, and I can go there. If all else fails, I guess I could just cab back to my car.

Or look into cheap hotels and make a weekend out of it.

Tolyk was suggesting that - and I was going to do a little looking as well.... sometime....

But yeah, Yorkdale mall is about..... 2 minutes off the highway, or less and the TTC is easy enough.

But I don't drive when I'm in the city either - it's insane and takes twice as long. Just as easy to go other ways. But Cabs will cost a small fortune.

I know cabs are expensive, but not more so than hotels, in my experience. Unless everyone stays at the same one and tries for a group discount.
