Pink Orchid 2024: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

Did you miss that in the movie? My god, it wasn't as open as in the script, but it was there. It's fully explored in the novelization.
That never occurred to me.

But if it DID happen, you're probably right.
And yes, she was on top.

Well, I wasn't going to write anything specific for this event, but a story is jumping up and down, demanding to be written. It was going to be a ghost story for Halloween next year, but I don't think it'll wait that long. Especially since it's a bit sad, not spooky.

I finished something I plan to submit, but I actually have a structure question. I want to attach a frame story. To the best of my ability, I've tried to write it in a way that adds tension to the main story, but I'm not sure if I can get away with it.

If it is in the main story, that'd be fine. If it isn't it has to be second entry (or first if it happens before)

I'm not sure what you're looking to hear. Could you be more specific? You could PM me if you'd like.

Want me to take a look?

I’m available to beta read any and all event stories. Not because I’m some pinnacle of wisdom but because I can’t volunteer anyone’s time but mine.

Also, if you want to post multiple stories for my event, that is completely possible. Without checking I think in previous years people have posted as many as 4.

In the original Dan O'Bannon screenplay, Starbeast, Ripley was Roby, a man.

That be awesome. I can PM you later? I don't know how beta reading works, but I assume it's straightforward.

What I'm writing now is thematically very similar to something I published recently and asked for you / AwkwardMD to review. Maybe I should cancel that other request? I had a pretty good amount of feedback on that one already (for good and for bad). I want to respect your time.

I guess you'd better, because it seems I can't PM you?

Whatever you feel works for you. We don't have hard limits of how many stories we will review per person, but we also don't want to be a step in anyone's publishing process so that they'd sent everything of theirs our way. Reviewing and beta reading are a bit different in function, so you can have both. And so far I haven't been overwhelmed with beta reading requests, either this year or the previous ones, so I haven't narrowed this offer down in any way.

I haven't read the actual script, but I did read they were going to film them in one or the others quarters with her riding him. I believe, but it's been years, that the scene was described quite nicely in the novelization.

Hi, I've just written a fake Greek myth involving Eos and Aphrodite and their argument over whether a mortal man is good at sex. He ends up in Hades, doomed by his own boasting (and Aphrodite's scheming). The vast majority of the piece involves the relationship between the two goddesses.

I'm not certain what the thrust of this event is, but I'm curious whether this story seems like it might fit? It's written as if it were a translation from Greek, complete with flowery language and allusions to real Greek myths.

@Omenainen

I'm not sure I'll come up with something in time, but i am generally curious about your thoughts re BDSM and submissive and/or masochistic women. I like to think that the way I've written these kinds of characters shows that they are embodying those roles because *they* want to*, because that's what works for them, sexually speaking, and not out of any coercion. But, in general, do you have qualms about those kind of stories being included in this event? Would you want to vet a story like that first?

*except for the one Non-con story I wrote, in which subterfuge in an earlier relationship plays a big role in how the character reacts in her current circumstances.

I think I have one ready for beta now. How can I get it to you? (MS Word)
Another one is also ready, but I'm pretty sure it violates site rules.

Sent you a PM.

The idea is to write female characters that make sense on their own and are not just pretty cock accessories. Quarreling Greek goddesses sound like they would fit splendidly. One of my favorite event stories had a female lead that was a mermaid, so it's by no means necessary to limit yourself to human women :)

I don't have qualms about any kink or any category. Being submissive and/or masochistic is not inherently nonsensical. I'm sorry to say I haven't read yours, but based on your forum presense I am confident that you don't write nonsensical women. I don't veto the stories, and wouldn't if I had the chance. This is not a juried event, and this is an open event to all and not an invitational one. I like to keep my options as wide open as possible. The way I see it, gay male is probably the most excluded category, and I think even that could be made to work, providing the story has at least one female character in a significant role.

For instance:

Married guy realises he's actually bi and wants to explore the other side of his sexuality. He and his wife have the "where do we go from here?" talk, and she's not really sure how she feels about it all. So she watches while he hooks up with another guy (maybe she sets them up herself?) as a way of testing her own emotions and thinks through what she wants out of this. Should they divorce? Is she okay with sharing him? If so, would she rather meet the guys or Don't Ask, Don't Tell? Does she want to have her own lovers on the side? Or something else?

Free to anybody who wants to adopt it, I already have too much on my to-do list.

I hope you do it! I've been playing around with the idea of rewriting some Greek myths for a while, haven't really gone anywhere with it yet.

It's not rewritten, it's original! I'm excited about it.

I'm thinking it's too flowery, though. And nowhere near explicit enough. It' all about sex and there are entendres aplenty, but nothing too sexual.

Thank you for the feedback.
I'll think about it and see if anything develops.
And I appreciate your confidence based on my comments (obviously I'd love if you read a story of mine, but I get the sense you've got a lot of things going).

I could just imagine that the BDSM category might be trickier than some, because of all of the stereotypes. Well, mind control might be harder (but I actually have a story I'd planned for the April fool's event that might work well for this. Hmmmm) It needs a lot more work though.

Sent you a PM.
Thank you. Draft sent.

It's written as if it were a translation
One I just wrote is meant to sound like it was translated to English from a (pre-Viking) Nordic dialect, maybe via German.

nowhere near explicit
It has that as well, but I think it still wound up too explicit for publication.

a female lead that was a mermaid,
My mermaid story barely got started before I had to stop and re-think. I need to find a way to describe her which doesn't make her look like a twelve year old girl (she's supposed to be forty, but she's a mythical creature).

I wrote (I hope) a woman-centric BDSM story from first person male POV. The women are driving the action and decisions.

I am intrigued! I wonder if this might be a decent starting point for me? I haven’t written a single piece of erotica before, but if I start with “what I know,” then it will probably wind up being about a woman who aspires to be her own boss and whose literal job is trying to make sense.

Any and all advice welcome! 🙏
