Pink Orchid 2024: Story Event for Women-Centric Erotica - Official Support Thread

It'd be nice if I can whip another one out this weekend. 2500 words in and he _just_ got her back to his place.

I just submitted a story for publication that in hindsight I perhaps should have saved for Pink Orchid. Oh well, apparently I write women-centric erotica without needing a particular occasion. Yay me!

This is very much allowed! Also there’s no rule to use the tag “pink orchid” only for event stories. Not that I think many people use it for searching, but maybe someday they will!

Locked and loaded my entry. There's a weird feeling of "let me mansplain female empowerment" but at the same time, regardless of the chromosomes, I hope people get where I'm going with it. I've not seen it done before on Lit. Let's see how it goes... roll on Feb.

I have the same worry about writing female characters. I do my best by just writing people, but adding a "female gaze" heavily influenced by what my wife tells me she likes.

Ah, luxury [insert 3 yorkshireman sketch quote] I'm just winging it without feedback, but good that your missus is weighing in. In the end, it's not that we do, but that we try?

Just about every one of my stories would be eligible for this event. If I finish the one I'm working on in time, I'll enter it.

Nah, it's not feedback. It's listening to my wife tell me what turns her on: my hands, my legs, how I smell. Then other bits and bobs about men she thinks are good-looking, or are good dressers, or have a nice voice. That's what I try to channel in my female POV characters.

the tag “pink orchid”
There is such a thing?

I guess maybe I could add that to the story I just submitted. And the one I just reached the end of -- 4500 words, pinching it off, now begins the endless re-reads and tweaks before beta.

Sure there is. Here’s all pink orchid stories so far: https://tags.literotica.com/pink orchid/

It’s probably not the most used in searches (yet!), but I think it’s well worth having, and definitely if you’re having trouble coming up with ten tags.

Don't get me started on how tags work here...

There's another site I posted some stories on before I found out about Lit. There, the readers/reviewers tell the system what themes they think the story includes -- "What categories does this story belong in (Select ALL that apply):" -- so it's like combining Categories and Tags together into one system, and I think that works better. I dislike authors giving a story tags it doesn't deserve just to fill up the space and attract views.
Plus, stories there have to maintain a minimum rating or they get deleted (supposedly).

But searching is easier here. And the readership here is wider and better.

Things would be different if I ran the zoo.

Will there be a 750 word event next year? I have a story which should fit both Pink Orchid and 750 words. Hope they overlap.
